Beth had a lot on her mind.

She was always quite skilled when it came to mapping out a story. She pulled out all of the stops - tracking down leads, trading information with (or sidestepping) the police, bribing her way into the morgue. And it always worked. Her story always came together, the ends always justified the means.

Which was why everything about Taxon was driving her crazy. There was little to no information about the city and who ran it. Every time she thought she had the smallest of leads, she found herself at another dead end. How was that possible (how was any of it possible - that was another question entirely)? Everyone and everything left some sort of trail, had some sort of past. Not to mention everyone that had been brought here. How were people kidnapped in a way that left no trace? That gave no clue about their kidnappers?

All of these thoughts had been bombarding her since she arrived. And, if she was going to continue to let them lead her down this insane, seemingly never-ending road, she needed coffee.
