Such would be known publicly if he and Damon (and Lexi) weren't playing yet another grand round of 'just normal folk from Virginia'. In their defense, they're not evil or intending harm (...well, Damon is-- Damon and his tantrums don't count); they just want to be left alone to live in this Founders-free place.
