Coming directly from a zombie apocalyptic world into a 'fake' world run by aliens, that just so happened to be glitched with zombies didn't settle very well in Rick's stomach. Obviously these aliens weren't keeping tabs on their captives. Either that, or it was an experiment. Whatever it was Rick had noticed that plenty of the other inhabitants had little or no experience fighting zombies, much less defending themselves. And that was perfectly normal.

What bothered him was that there seemed to be no defense or enforcement group. Not only for law, but for the protection of others. Rick wasn't about to just come in and try to direct--that wasn't who he was. His concern was for his fellow city-goers. If they were stuck here they may as well have some sort of establishment. At least, that's what he'd like to have happen.

But since he was new, and very polite, Rick would make sure that he ran this by the others in Taxon. It was a decently sized place, he knew little to no one, and there was possibly other officers he could co-op with. Which is why he took out his device, took a breath, and put his thoughts to word. "I haven't been here long, but it's in my understanding that there isn't any sort of lawful or defensive establishment in the city. I understand that we aren't exactly in control ourselves...but given the recent circumstance, I think it's something that we should consider. While we may not have complete control of our lives at the moment, we can at least try and be organized."

He paused, taking a breath and swallowing. "It may save more lives next time. So, what I'm asking is, is there anyone else out there--officers, policemen, whomever, who would consider setting up such an establishment?" Another pause. "And before I forget my manners, my name is Rick Grimes. Former sheriff's deputy."

For those such instances, Rick would agree with Spencer. But it looked as if Jason was only seeking to help and he didn't mind the insecurity of the line. Right now he was looking for help, and that meant every available ear needed to hear.

"Don't sell yourself short, like I said we're not in a place to be picky and we need all the help we can get." Rick was silent for a moment about the 'serial killer' part. He was hoping that it wouldn't come to that, but who knew. Still, he nodded. "Hopefully we don't, but any help you're willing to offer is greatly appreciated."

"If we do start to have murders that appear to be related, it won't be that difficult to figure out who the unsub is, being as that we have such a small population as it is. Any newcomer especially would stand out as a potential suspect..."

Spencer missed his work. He missed solving the puzzles of people's minds.

"As I said.. I'm not.. so forceful. But I do carry a weapon and have received firearm training."

Rick couldn't help but give a small smile. He missed his work too, missed how things used to be before the zombies came, long before he arrived here. But most of all he missed his family. He could relate.

He wasn't the most forceful person either, but he did what needed to be done. "As I said, help is help, Dr. Reid. And if you'd like I can show you how to use the more complex firearms, and other techniques if you'd like."

Spencer nodded slowly.

"That... might be a good idea..."

He was very comfortable with his revolver, and the idea of using something larger scared him a bit. However, he know that it would probably be useful in a place like this.

Revolvers were good, and they'd saved Rick's life more than once. But for much bigger--more dangerous needs, a revolver wasn't going to be much help. It took more than one or two to take down a zombie. Unless you were some sort of marksman and got them clean between the eyes...

"Right then, it's settled." He thought on it a moment before speaking again. "When I go and show you we can use that as an opportunity to help the others as well. That's what it's all about. If some of the more..stubborn of the bunch see that an officer is even taking the help, it may better our chances."
