"You don't have to be embarrased about it." He was very obviously not and never had been all that ashamed for it. He couldn't precisely relate to family showing up, but...he'd be lying if he said that he hadn't dreamed of what would happen if Vanyel put in his own appearance, if he said that he didn't want to see him again, didn't want him to be here to protect him and everyone else. And Vayel was certainly protective enough that he could relate to that part.
