"Provided he treats you well - as he seems to - that certainly seems to be the case." He gives Charlotte a small smile and looks back at John. All the comments about marriage and whatnot were bringing up thoughts of his Josette, and he did his best to push them back.

"Yes, I'm all too aware of that," he replies to John's comment about "a very good woman."
