005: [Accidental visual/Location: Random rooftop] Remember that Hell thing? Yeah, that happened

Out of all moments for the Tablet to switch on, and Gwen barely notices.  No interruption of any skulking, or smirking, or stealing, however.  Taxon has caught her off-guard.  She's on a rooftop, staring out into the empty, stormless sky.  In her palm, she's holding a small, black ops device.  LISA, the thing that renders the freak touchable.  And she cradles it gently in her palm.

As if caught by a sudden urge, she rips off one red glove and crushes the thing in her palm, blue sparks transmitting the thing to nothing but an unimportant, indistinguishable scrap of metal.  LISA is no more.  She chucks what's left of it off the roof.

If you're wondering why her eyes are so focused, why her face is bereft of the coy, careless playfulness it usually shows, feel free to ask her, at your own risk.  Memories are flying through her head.  Now she gets what Spike said, when he arrived.  But hell if she's going to lower herself to talk to him about it.  She has an idea of what he'd say.

Cuddling with Nate, just wanting to be held, because she finally can.
The sky lighting up.  L.A. being sent to hell.
LISA malfunctioning.  Nate burnt to a crisp.
A fight in a sewer.  The son of a vampire.  Fighting by his side, fighting by his side.  Gunn, the betrayal, her betrayal.  Cordelia the Dragon.  The rooftop.  Her death.  Her sacrifice.

Every once in a while, Gwen actually yearns for a storm.  This is one of those times.

[ooc: CANON BUMP through the Angel: After The Fall comic series.]

Hard to think of a bright side when there isn't any - that sort of thing?

[Cordelia hesitates to answer for a while. Sure, there's that whole patching-him-up episode - seeing him with a metal thingy sticking out of his chest was never fun, even if she was mad at him - but then there's that angle where she was mad at him. Kinda hard to ignore that.]

Sure. Especially when I found out that he's working for the other side now. So happy, really.

Yeah. Stupid reasons. Angel really isn't big with the thinking. He's just one big, stupid, not thinking thing.

[Well, you brought the topic up, Gwen. Kinda hard to stop her now.]

I mean, one would think that those reasons would be shared with the rest of the class, you know? Except he's all 'no Cordelia, you're better off not knowing. No, Cordelia - I'm protecting you this way.' I'll tell you what I think. I think that's bullshit. If he has his reasons, then okay fine - but keeping them from me isn't really helping his case, you know? And he's not even apologizing! He's just... standing there with his ridiculously expensive suit on and sticking with his stupid plan! Well he could stick his stupid reasons up his stupid ass for all I care!

I know! I mean, he should have just... you know. Went the way Wesley did. Kept his mouth shut about working for Wolfram & Hart when he first arrived.

[She's peeved at Wes, sure, but Angel's always been the head honcho. Cordelia was sure Wesley just followed, anyway. Plus, that whole CEO angle - if Wes was the CEO, then she would be angry at him, not Angel.]

I wish Gunn was here. I'm sure he'll be telling me how he kicked those two's pansy asses if he was.

[Pause. Pause. What?]

You got a little dose of the future? How?

Is it a glitch? You think... you're glitched, or something?

[And this is the part where she remembers just how sad and so very un-Gwen-like Gwen looked earlier, in the tablet. God, what did they do to deserve a future like this? They've been working for the good guys all along, right? Helping the helpless, trying to make the world a better place, and what do they get in return? A scary future, in all its scary glory.]

Pft, Like that's a surprise.

[Because really, she would be pissed if Angel tells Gwen something while leaving her in the dark. Right now, though, her curiosity is just... well. She now begins to wonder if she's better off now that she doesn't know, or if she should continue with the poking, only to end up wishing she was still ignorant.]

Ahead of the game?

Past...? Oh, you mean timelines.

[So that... what. Left her and Fred as the only ones still living in the past? Well, of course there's Doyle but at least everyone knows what became of him. Cordelia then realizes that Fred did have an inkling of what's going to happen to her in the future - the big, blue her walking around in Taxon is a testament to that. So that leaves her as the only ignorant part of the party. Oh so much freaking yay.]

Spike's from the future, too? Well, color me surprised. Not like we got to talk much, since I pretty much booted him off the stage when he mentioned he had a soul.

[Looks like she would have to, since it's a given that Angel's being a retard. She could go to Wes, though. Or to Spike. But the desire to know is pretty much dimming.]

That's Spike for 'ya. More with the ass, less with the jack. Well, actually - a whole lot more of both. Goes to show that having a soul doesn't exactly mean being all zen about it.

Ohh. So you two have met in the future? And you pissed him off? Gee, I wonder how you managed that.

No kidding.
