III [VISUAL/LOCATION: THE ANGRY SKUNK BAR] WHEN WE WAKE UP SO FAR AWAY FROM HOME.

Kensei wasn't sure exactly what sort of situation that he'd stumbled into. This certainly wasn't Japan, and unless London had changed a lot since he'd last been home, it was hardly England, either. What Hiro had explained to him about time traveling, he didn't really understand very well. But he would have figured that if Hiro had been the one to send him here, the little pipsqueak would have come along as well. It was hardly like Carp to leave him stranded in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nothing to help him.

Well, there was that one time with the Ronin, but that was more an exercise for him to realize that he could do this on his own and not technically abandonment.

Having stumbled back to the building that was marked on the...box thing that he'd found stuffed in his pocket, Kensei looked oddly around at the surroundings that he found himself in, narrowing his eyes in confusion. Oh, this...wasn't good. This wasn't good at all.

"All right, Carp. The joke is over. You can come out now."

They had to get back to Otsu. Whitebeard was apt to take his absence as an opportunity to attack.

Peter wanted to speak with Adam again. If he could forgive Nathan, allow Sylar another chance, and a million of other things he could do? Peter knew he should give Adam another chance. It was only fair. Even if he was wary the guy would snap again and want to kill all of humanity. Or a good chunk of it.

"Adam?" Peter stepped into the bar, glancing around. Why the hell Adam brought a bar, he would never get. Then again he never understood why he brought Primatech.

He looked over at Adam, blinking slightly. "No... no Japanese people here from what I know of." A pause as he bit his lip in thought. "Your name is Adam. Adam Monroe. One of the tons of names you've used over time."

"Hiro?" Peter looked back at him, wide eyed. "Hiro isn't here... you're not going to find him." He glanced down at Adam's dress then raised his eyebrows slightly. Peter didn't know anything about Adam's past. Not anything that would suggest being... a samurai.

"So your name is...?"

The longer this discussion went on, the more he was starting to worry. Maybe Adam glitched to how he was... however long ago it was? It'd make sense. There seemed to be a lot of Taxon screwing around lately. He reached up and scratched his forehead slightly. Oh boy.

"You sort of came here earlier." Peter explained. "Er, Kensei, I mean... when you showed up? You were how you are in my time. This is going to be really confusing but, I know the future you."

His eyebrow went up at the cloth tugging, but he ultimately let out a sigh. He shook his head at what Adam-er-Kensei was talking about. Either he had no idea about his ability, or he didn't know that he couldn't ... die. Peter felt like the bearer of bad news. Which, he hated being.

"You... have an ability, don't you?" He asked hesitantly. "Something that you've never seen anyone else do, right?"

Peter couldn't help but laugh. Even if he was a bit derailed by how happy the man in front of him was. Back in the cells in the Company, he was hardly ever this happy. It wasn't so much as disturbing, as just ... odd.

"He popped up in a train and told me that I had to save a cheerleader to save the world. Sort of implying it'd make me a hero." There was an honest shrug. "Hiro is originally from my time - the future. He apparently went back and met you."

He'd miss the ability he had already, but he figured that right now? Things were a bit more important than seeing sound. Peter gave a pat to Kensei's arm, pausing a moment as he absorbed his ability. With a grin he moved over to the counter and began looking for a near empty bottle of alcohol. Peter looked back over at him over his shoulder, still grinning.

"I have an ability too. Not like Hiro, but..." He slammed the bottle down on the bar top and watched it shatter. Taking the glass that was still in his hand, he shoved the glass right into his arm. Peter winced slightly at it, it never really stopped hurting no matter how many times he did it.

"Well, I've fallen off the top of a building and died... and had to move the bottom half of my body and my foot back into place." Peter shrugged at the explanation. It stung, and was nothing like getting stabbed by samurai blades, but was the closest thing he had. Peter then pulled the bottle out of his arm, watching as it healed. Same exact as Claire's ability.

"And yeah, I mimic." He looked back over at him as he placed the bloody bottle on the counter. "Used to be able to copy a lot of abilities at once... but now I can only do it one at a time. I had to give u p the one I had in order to show this off." And he most likely wouldn't have it ever again in Taxon. Which stung on some level inside. Emma's ability was rare in Taxon. No one else had it and... he just threw it away like it was nothing. God sakes, when did he become like this with people's abilities?

"But... thing is? Your ability keeps you alive. For a really long time. Hiro and I actually come from about four hundred years in your future. And I meet you, four hundred years from now."

Peter had decided he wasn't going to ask why he called him Carp. It was probably a Japanese joke that he wouldn't get, anyways. Which he always wondered why Adam had run off to Japan. What was so wrong with Britain? Japan was no where near Europe, even four hundred years ago.

"I wish." Peter smiled sheepishly. "There is a way to stop your ability, but... without doing it? You can live on, forever. I know it's a lot to take in and digest. But it's true. I swear."

"Yeah... at least there's that."

Except he knew that Adam and Hiro somehow had a falling out. That they no longer got along. Something happened, he didn't know what, in order to break that. And it seemed like it was just a long slow decent. Peter looked away as he shoved his hands in his pockets.

"You're not the only one that can live that long, you know."
