III [VISUAL/LOCATION: THE ANGRY SKUNK BAR] WHEN WE WAKE UP SO FAR AWAY FROM HOME.
Kensei wasn't sure exactly what sort of situation that he'd stumbled into. This certainly wasn't Japan, and unless London had changed a lot since he'd last been home, it was hardly England, either. What Hiro had explained to him about time traveling, he didn't really understand very well. But he would have figured that if Hiro had been the one to send him here, the little pipsqueak would have come along as well. It was hardly like Carp to leave him stranded in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nothing to help him.
Well, there was that one time with the Ronin, but that was more an exercise for him to realize that he could do this on his own and not technically abandonment.
Having stumbled back to the building that was marked on the...box thing that he'd found stuffed in his pocket, Kensei looked oddly around at the surroundings that he found himself in, narrowing his eyes in confusion. Oh, this...wasn't good. This wasn't good at all.
"All right, Carp. The joke is over. You can come out now."
They had to get back to Otsu. Whitebeard was apt to take his absence as an opportunity to attack.

"Adam?" Peter stepped into the bar, glancing around. Why the hell Adam brought a bar, he would never get. Then again he never understood why he brought Primatech.
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"Nobody here by that name," He said before following it up. The man didn't exactly look lost, so maybe... "You didn't happen to see a small Japanese chap anywhere nearby, did you? I...seem to have lost him. Or he's lost me. Either way."

"You've got the wrong man, my friend," Kensei said as he crossed over, clapping Peter lightly on the shoulder. "I do so hope that you find this Adam fellow that you're looking for, but I do have to get going. Wherever Hiro has gotten off to, I need to find him. I am not very attached to the idea of being stuck somewhere as an anachronism if it can be helped."
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"So your name is...?"
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"Takezo Kensei, swordsman of Otsu."
Kensei paused, furrowing his brow as he looked over at Peter a slight confusing settling into his voice, "So. If Hiro is not here, exactly how did I get here?"
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"You sort of came here earlier." Peter explained. "Er, Kensei, I mean... when you showed up? You were how you are in my time. This is going to be really confusing but, I know the future you."
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"Your future is rather far removed from mine. I'm afraid I will have gone to meet my maker several centuries before then, my friend. You must have me confused with someone else."
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"You... have an ability, don't you?" He asked hesitantly. "Something that you've never seen anyone else do, right?"
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"I heal from any wound," Kensei said, inclining his head towards the other man, a quirk of a smile on his face. Only, it was less sarcastic than Peter would have been used to. It was almost...delighted, fresh and at ease with the whole thing. His whole body language was actually far lighter, less burdened than Adam's. He actually looked...happy.
"It is something that has saved me more than once, I will tell you," Kensei said with a laugh, clapping Peter on the shoulder with a smile. "So, how do you know Carp? He pop randomly into your life and say he was there to make you into a hero, too?"
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"He popped up in a train and told me that I had to save a cheerleader to save the world. Sort of implying it'd make me a hero." There was an honest shrug. "Hiro is originally from my time - the future. He apparently went back and met you."
He'd miss the ability he had already, but he figured that right now? Things were a bit more important than seeing sound. Peter gave a pat to Kensei's arm, pausing a moment as he absorbed his ability. With a grin he moved over to the counter and began looking for a near empty bottle of alcohol. Peter looked back over at him over his shoulder, still grinning.
"I have an ability too. Not like Hiro, but..." He slammed the bottle down on the bar top and watched it shatter. Taking the glass that was still in his hand, he shoved the glass right into his arm. Peter winced slightly at it, it never really stopped hurting no matter how many times he did it.
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"That's... Wow," He said, laughing as his expression turned sympathetic at the wince. "It does sting horribly, doesn't it? Try and imagine 90 samurai blades trying to hack you into little pieces all at the same time. I was...very lucky that things grew back."
He'd been very lucky never to lose the arm that he'd been wielding his sword with. He'd lost the other multiple times. And he'd been lucky that each time it grew back had staggered the Ronin long enough for him to be able to take down two or three more and slowly hack his way to the fire scroll. Still. He'd been very lucky to get out of there alive.
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"And yeah, I mimic." He looked back over at him as he placed the bloody bottle on the counter. "Used to be able to copy a lot of abilities at once... but now I can only do it one at a time. I had to give u p the one I had in order to show this off." And he most likely wouldn't have it ever again in Taxon. Which stung on some level inside. Emma's ability was rare in Taxon. No one else had it and... he just threw it away like it was nothing. God sakes, when did he become like this with people's abilities?
"But... thing is? Your ability keeps you alive. For a really long time. Hiro and I actually come from about four hundred years in your future. And I meet you, four hundred years from now."
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"But that's no possible," Kensei said, staring at Peter with wide eyes. "No man lives that long." No man since the time of the Great Flood had been considered perfect enough to be allowed such an extended lifespan. Blinking vaguely at Peter, Kensei laughed, a weak and slightly maniac sound before he shook his head and smiled up at him.
"Carp put you up to this, didn't he? A little practical joke to see how gullible I am. Am I right?"
[location: the angry skunk bar]
"I wish." Peter smiled sheepishly. "There is a way to stop your ability, but... without doing it? You can live on, forever. I know it's a lot to take in and digest. But it's true. I swear."
[location: the angry skunk bar]
And he had four hundred years worth of life ahead of him. No, not four hundred year, an eternity. It was simply a matter of four hundred years having passed. The look in his eyes softened after a moment, a vague smile spreading across his face as a realization sunk it.
"At least in four hundred years, I will still have someone I can depend on wholeheartedly. If Hiro is from your time originally."
[location: the angry skunk bar]
Except he knew that Adam and Hiro somehow had a falling out. That they no longer got along. Something happened, he didn't know what, in order to break that. And it seemed like it was just a long slow decent. Peter looked away as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
"You're not the only one that can live that long, you know."
