Spock sat down in the suggested chair. His posture was not one of relaxation, as he was focused almost entirely on the woman in front of him.

"If you wish to talk about the effects of Cadet Gaila's arrival," he said, with the air of someone testing highly unfamiliar waters, "I will endeavor to listen and, if you wish, to offer advice on the matter." He was not entirely impartial, but he was logical and his opinion could be considered useful. "However, if you would prefer to talk about other matters, I would be happy to assist in an attempt to ... distract you."

Her own attempt to offer comfort, some months ago now, had been considerably more eloquent. He did not believe Uhura would hold that against him.
