V. [ location: sunnydale beach ] was searching for that something.

The party seemed to be winding down. So just as he had promised, Peter went back into the fray of people and found Max. With a playful grin he led her to the back of the foyer of Magnus's Sanctuary and down the stairs that led to the garage. He had no idea which bike was her's, so he let her handle finding it as he set the gates to open so they could leave. Peter had a rather childlike grin as he slipped onto the bike behind Max, following her instructions on how to operate it. It wasn't like Peter had driven a motorcycle before.

It was rather successful as they ended up driving out of the Sanctuary's front yard and gates, turning to go down on the roads of Taxon. The night air was crisp and the eerie feeling that the city gave on Halloween seemed to fit. At least their captors had a good sense of theatrics, he supposed. Rubbing in the sense of irony, as Peter tended to do, the two ended up at the Sunnydale Beach. Because clearly, going to a beach on Halloween was the best of ideas.

The two pulled up on the bike and Peter put his feet on the ground to stop it. He tilted his hat up to look at her with a triumphant and somewhat cocky grin, though he looked up at the eerie moon as well. This place was just down right creepy at night like this.

[ ooc; open to everyone~ Max will be glitching in the thread into a mermaid. So feel free to reply to this post with noticing the mermaid antics going on! Car will be throwing up tags to it. There's a part of the thread that's marked as [VISUAL] to show when it kicks in for you guys.

Truthfully, despite her costume, Max didn't really like beaches. Mainly because she hadn't ever been to one and the memories she had associated with large bodies water were not exactly happy. Not that Peter would have known how she felt about them (there weren't many that did), but the idea of being so close to one made her feel a little uneasy.

Whatever. It wasn't like they had to go in the water.

"You did pretty well for a beginner," she said with a grin at Peter after turning the bike off. She nodded to the kickstand, indicating she wanted him to set it - she would have done it herself if her costume allowed her feet to move freely.

And he had. It had been a little awkward, but he'd managed to pick up on her cues pretty well.

The cold didn't bother her too much, but she appreciated the jacket anyway and slipped it around her shoulders. (As best she could, anyway - the jacket was long and Peter was slightly taller than she was.)

"You always come to the beach when it's mid-fall and a full moon?"

That got him a raised eyebrow. "Sue you for what?"

That struck Max as pretty weird. Especially since the guy had decided not to sue. In her experience, people used whatever ways they could to squeeze someone out of a few bucks.

"Least he didn't screw you out of any money," she said as she kept walking...

And then winced, knees buckling a bit as pain shot through her legs, passing as quickly as it came.

"Sonofabitch..."

She took the support gratefully, gripping his forearms as she tried to stand up, but she was finding it hard to for some reason. It wasn't another seizure - after the initial pain, she felt fine. So why couldn't she stand up?

Max looked up at Peter, staring back and frowning. "What's wrong...?"

And then she looked down and saw what he was staring at.

She had a tail. The skirt of her costume had been replaced with scales and fins.

She looked back up at Peter, eyes wide and panicked.

"What the hell?!"

"Oh, really? Couldn't tell that from the tail or anything."

She didn't mean to be bitchy, really, but suddenly becoming her costume was freaking her out.

She sat down (with his help), looking in disbelief at her tail. It hadn't even occurred to her to look at her chest, but as she was moved she could feel what was covering her chest shift slightly and realized that she was now being covered up by shells instead of fabric. Thank God Peter had given her his jacket - she'd feel pretty close to naked without it.

"I can't believe this place."

"So what, everyone's gonna turn into their costumes now?" Max asked, slipping her arms into the sleeves of the jacket. "Wait, if that's the case, then why aren't you glitching?"

"Lucky us," she said, huffing as she sat back, her hands braced behind her. She looked at Peter curiously. "Who was it Nathan glitched into?"

"So what, he came dressed in his regular clothes and called it a costume?"

"Sure he wasn't just playing up the part?"

"...But then your girlfriend grew a tail," she said, gesturing to where her legs were supposed to be.

Max sighed, pushing a hand through her hair. "How long do you think it'll last?"
