008. [ accidental visual / location: helen's lab ] that you'll find me, that you'll see me.

The Halloween Party had gone better than she hoped, even expected. The party ended and the events unfolded with the large green creature and retrieving Ashley. And then it was returning to work as normal. Rather, as it had been, as opposed to normal. Long hours going back and forth between her lab and her office. Hardly seeing anyone, except when Henry had found the Cabal Laboratory. Which had done little more than fan the flame.

Helen found herself up all night again. Continually testing the sample of blood that Claire had so kindly given her. Trying to learn how it worked when dealing with other samples. The results seemed to say that no matter the blood type, Claire's could bond with it and repair it. A universal donor. She then mixed a sample of Ashley's previous blood and Claire's, letting it settle before looking for the results.

Except she had fallen asleep with her forehead pressed to her hands. Having terrible sleep patterns were completely different from pure fatigue and exhaustion. Though her dreams were hardly ones that would lighten her mood, it took her a few moments to realize she had dozen off. And that it was now morning, given the sunlight coming in from the glass roof above.

Adam had isolated himself from everyone. Kensei had been a talkative and open individual, but in such a setting where he hadn't been able to get a footing in anything, Kensei had closed himself up in the bar that was apparently where he was living and drank. He'd been rather unfortunately disappointed to find that alcohol, the one solace that he had had in a life that had had no direction, wasn't there to comfort his confusion this time. It had simply left him with a burn on his tongue and less alcohol to show for it.

Adam had been grateful when he had woken up as himself, just the memory of his conversation with Peter and the pathetic behavior that his old self had lapsed into stuck in his mind, but other than that, no embarrassment to show for the situation. He had hidden from the potential embarrassment for a day or two more before he had felt himself prompted by the image that flashed on his tablet to say something.

"Rise and shine, sunshine," Adam trilled into the tablet, propping his head up on her corner of the bar as he grinned at the groggy picture he was presented with. "All work and no play makes Jill a dull girl."

After Peter had told Ashley about how her mother had worked she'd wanted to talk to her mom about it - her mom might have been working non stop for her but she wouldn't be able to help if she worked herself completely into the ground. Ashley had waited until after Halloween and all events following had ended, choosing her moment and words carefully.

Her mom's lab was Ashley's first point of call rather than one on the way like it used to be. Ashley didn't speak straight away after entering the room, not wanting to make her do something wrong. This time however Ashley didn't speak at all, she simply left just to cone back a few minutes later with a blanket to wrap around her mother's shoulders.

Ashley gave her mother a smile back before shaking her head slightly. "I haven't slept that much since I became..." Maybe she didn't need to as much, for the moment anyway. "You on the other hand." Her expression became one that was a lot more serious. Her mom might argue her reasons for a lack of sleep but Ashley would refuse to budge on it: someone needed to look after her if she wasn't right now.

That was a lot quicker than Ashley had expected - either she'd had some help or there'd been a lot more nights like this.

"After you've slept." Something about this was sending a little feeling of hesitation through her. Ashley wanted this but to try it and it not work? That might hurt.

"What if something went wrong because you hadn't slept?" It was doubtful but still possible and something that she definitely wanted to rule out.

Wasn't that a familiar situation? Mohinder would be doing the same thing, if he was actually sleeping. He wondered what Dr. Magnus was working so diligently on. He'd produced newer equipment through the aid of a hatch, but he hadn't really had anything to work on yet. Just tons of files to sort through- information about his own transformation, and the box of files about Coyote Sands. Not that it was

"You might be more comfortable in a bed," Mohinder said gently. He didn't want to wake her if she was in a deep sleep, but- it was merely the truth. Plus, he was curious about what she was working so hard on.

"Well enough," he replied, with a tired smile. "This is, honestly, as idle as I've ever been- I guess that's true of most people in this city."

He knit his fingers together and rested them on the desk as he watched Helen. "May I ask what it is you're testing? No need to tell me if you'd rather not, but- I have to admit, I'm curious."

[ooc: Grrr, apologies for the random sentence fragment up there. ]

His eyes widened when he heard about that. But that was what it almost always came down to, wasn't it? Claire's blood. He was also surprised to hear about Helen's daughter, because she had told him she'd lost her. But in this place, other times could be accessed and perhaps Helen had more than one daughter, anyway. He wasn't about to ask.

"Well, regenerative blood does seem to be exceedingly effective in a number of situations. I'd say you have a very good chance of success." He smiled. "I'm missing a great deal of my notes, but I do have a few things related to that subject- I could certainly share them, if you think it would help. What is it you're trying to manipulate, if I might ask?"

He took in this information with a narrowing of eyes as he thought about it, and a slight nod. "I am terribly sorry about your daughter," he said quietly, looking up to meet Helen's eyes. He'd brought out his own power, forcibly. There had been so many side effects, but at least he'd known he'd done that to himself. Ashley hadn't even had that.

After a moment, he continued. "That- I think you may have a really good chance there. Obviously, I have no experience with vampiric creatures. However, regenerative blood seems to try and reset everything to it's original state. As long as you can convince it that the original state is your daughter's original DNA, you can set her back to 'normal' with it." The convincing was the hard part, though, and he knew that was why she wasn't sleeping. "I know it might take me a bit to catch up, but- could you use any help? I'm quite good at centrifuging, I'm told." He smiled rather brightly at that. If he had someone he could actually help, he'd feel a lot better here.

One of the first things Henry did on waking up was do a run through of the Sanctuary security systems. Not the same as the more usual tooth-brushing, but much more important. Even in this place, he thought.

Which was how he'd caught Magnus asleep. A quick glance at the image from her lab and he knew she'd likely been there all night.

It only took him a couple minutes to get down there, but it was long enough for Magnus to wake up, "You know, the Big Guy would have bought you breakfast in the morning."

"I slept alright," he did, most of the time, though never for long. Five or six hours a night was pretty average and even then he'd often pass out looking over notes on his computer in bed. "You, however, tried to sleep here. Let someone else cook. Hell, use the hatches. Sausage and egg mcmuffins and hashbrowns for everyone."

"What?" He had expected this reaction, and to be honest? He didn't even mind it. "The food's not so bad. Okay, sometimes the chicken is still a bit raw in the middle, but whatever doesn't kill us?"

"Only some of the time," he broke into a grin, letting her know that he had been, mostly, joking. "Seriously, you should get some actual sleep. I'll take care of breakfast."
