[Location: Sanctuary/Visual] It's not fair!

Okay. It'd been way too fucking long since Cassie got to see her idkmybffBilly and after the crazy shit she'd gone through in the past couple weeks, she was intent on changing that. She wasn't at 100% after her 'run in' with John, but she was better. Cassie dressed 'warmly' and made her way to the nearest tram station. Cassie had a good feeling that Billy was going to be at the Sanctuary, tinkering away with something, so she decided to surprise him. On the tram ride, Cassie tapped her booted toes against the floor, watching out the window. There were soft murmurs coming from the extras, their version of talking.

When the tram reached the station nearest the Sanctuary, Cassie hopped off, glad to be leaving the tram. As long as the extras had been around, they were still creepy as fuck. Cassie entered the Sanctuary, making her way up the stairs to the floor Billy's room was on, humming a few bars of an AC/DC song that she hadn't heard in forever. Reaching the door, Cassie knocked on it a couple times, before announcing, in her cheeriest voice, "Billyyyyyy, I've come to hang out! Let's hatch a pizza and watch crappy Sci-Fi movies!"

Cassie waited a few moments before knocking again. "You better not be asleep in there, ya ass. It's almost four in the afternoon!" A pit, dark and cold began growing in her stomach. Cassie placed her hand on the doorknob, twisting it and pushing the door open. What she saw made her heart drop the handful of floors to the lobby. In an extreme contrast to Billy's usual genius mess, the room was completely clean. Like it'd never been used. Did he move without telling her? Cassie pulled her tablet from her hoodie pocket, scrolling for Billy's name on the contact list. But she couldn't find it. "...the hellassballs?" Cassie muttered, frowning a little. She switched over to the map function, searching for Billy's dot. After looking the map over three times, realization began to dawn on her.

"Oh, no. Oh, fuck no," Cassie whispered hoarsely, her grip tightening on the tablet, causing it to switch to the visual function without her knowledge. "No, no, no, nononono. He can't be gone. He fucking can't. No!" Cassie's rambling rose in volume and pitch as it continued. She let off an almost banshee-like shriek and turned, throwing the tablet across the room. The tablet recorded a shot of the ceiling for several minutes as the sound of Cassie tearing apart the room in her despair and frustration was heard. Her distraught denial being vocalized with numerous curse words, her shouting 'no', over and over again, and sobbing.

The sounds slowed to a stop and Cassie knelt in the middle of the room, her face in her hands. Her side ached where John had stabbed her, having aggravated the injury in her temper tantrum. But it didn't hurt nearly as much as the big, empty pit in her chest. "Fucking god, no....."

You have no idea how much it costs to reupholster a car. The worst part is finding a mechanic who can keep their mouth shut.

Eric pocketed the tablet, wondering what the hell he was doing. In the meantime, he lounged back on the living room couch until the knock came. He'd forgotten just how long it took those minus incredibly expensive sports cars or supernatural speed to get around this place. With a sigh, he called from his seat, "It's open."

Yeah, his caring tank was running on empty just from the initial invite. If Cassie was expecting him to have manners enough to open the door, then too bad.

Surprisingly enough, they're not that impossible to find.

He watched silently as Cass came towards him, one eyebrow arched slightly as he waited for her to say something. When nothing appeared to be coming, Eric opened his mouth as she sat down. But then she sprung that cuddling and crying on him and damned if he knew what to do about it. If anyone had walked in at that moment, he would have looked really stupid with his mouth hanging open like that.

So he shut it with a snap, and simply waited for this unpleasant thing to run its course (for lack of better options).

Eric kept completely still, in that way only dead things can be - there's no movement for breath or heartbeat, or even blinking. He just sat there, arms not moving to hold her or comfort her or even pat her on the back. They stayed stretched along the back of the couch, and his eyes stayed on the top of Cassie's head.

"Are you almost finished?" ...What? At least his tone isn't condescending, merely inquisitive.

Now there was eyerolling. "I wasn't trying to be rude," and face it, Cass, he can be pretty damn rude when he wants to be, "and it wasn't as if I twisted your arm into coming here." Then, after a significant delay and in a dry, sarcastic tone: "Ouch."

As for her real question, Eric shrugged as he brought one hand to rest on his knee. "I do not know," he said quietly. The next wasn't quite said with a growl, but it's terribly close. "If I did, then things would be entirely different." That hand was now a fist, if Cassie would care to notice.

Eric gave her a look that plainly said, 'Well, duh'. But his nice, silent snarking was again undone by Cassie's need to keep touching him. Seriously, what was up with humans and their constant need for contact? He arched an eyebrow, first staring at the hand on his wrist, then at Cassie. After a moment or so of this, he replied.

"I suppose it's possible." More than possible for Pam - she had always, always come when he'd called, when he needed her. She would come back. She had to. His stubborn train of thought was momentarily derailed by the ache ringing across the bond, especially coupled with more tears. Damn it, he thought she was done with that part. "What is it now?"

He shouldn't have to get used to it. You should all just stop being so weird and then there wouldn't even be this awkward nonsense. It's all your fault, Cassie, yours and your whole stupid species'.

Annoyed wasn't exactly the right word, but Eric was definitely falling in that neighborhood. He sighed, holding back another eyeroll as he turned in his seat to look at Cassie sulking a few cushions over. "No, really. What is it."

Because Godric has unintentionally incredible timing, Godric chose that moment to walk in. Cassie was an unexpected guest, if not an unwelcome one, and the picture she made curled up on the opposite end of the couch from Eric was one of annoyance and sadness. Eric, on the other hand, looked -- and felt -- mildly upset and disgruntled. What in the world...?

"What's wrong?" It was a general question, addressed to the room, since he really wasn't sure who did what or why, and no one was apparently happy.

No, you, Cassie.

"I can, yes. But I'm not telepathic, I don't know what triggered this. I thought you were finished." Because obviously humans had quotas for this sort of thing - you can cry for x amount of time, and then you're done. Really, Eric? Really?

And when Godric stepped in, he immediately turned to the other vampire and blinked innocently. "A friend of hers," he added neutrally.

"Ah," he replied intelligently. He was momentarily thrown by the fact that there was no reason that the disappearance of a friend of Cassie's should affect Eric so. Surely if Eric knew this Billy, he would have mentioned him by now. They tended to gossip exchange notes about pretty much everything that went on in Taxon.

Or maybe Eric was just annoyed because he didn't know how to deal with a crying Cassie? Sadly, Godric wasn't sure he could do too much better.

"I'm sorry, Cassie." He sounded sincere enough as he walked over to the couch.

No you, Cassie. Forever. Which Eric can legitimately promise - he can do this longer than you.

"What did I do?" he asked, brow furrowing with irritation. He moved over to make room for Godric to sit between himself and Cassie. Eric gave her a withering look - how was he supposed to know about this 'best friend' status when Cassie hadn't shared that particular bit of information.

Godric was ashamed that he felt some smug satisfaction that Billy was gone when Cassie implied he may have been more than a friend. Cassie was in pain because this Billy had disappeared, it was no time to get territorial.

He sat between Eric and Cassie and got the distinct impression he was sitting in the line of fire. He looked between the two questioningly. Yes Cassie, what did Eric do? Because Eric seemed about as clueless as Godric.

Hate the game, not the player, baby.

"I didn't say you were stupid so don't twist my words," he said defensively. "I was simply wondering if there was some kind of estimate. And I told you I wasn't trying to be rude then."

Eric's mouth thinned into a grim line at the mere mention of Godric leaving, but not before some all too obvious fear flashed across his face. He wordlessly turned away from Cassie, staring a hole into the wall opposite the couch while simultaneously moving a little closer to Godric. That wasn't going to happen, he told himself. Not again. It just wasn't.

Godric stiffened immediately when Cassie brought up the possibility of his own disappearance. It was something he knew they'd both thought about, and the idea didn't bring either of them any pleasure. For Godric's part, he would forever regret it if he were forced to leave Eric alone in this place. Taxon was a gilded cage, but a cage nonetheless.

He let one of his hands drop to the couch between them, his arm pressing up against Eric's as if he could keep them from being separated by physical contact alone.

"Cassie," he tried cautiously, "No one is trying to belittle your feelings." There was no need to strike so deep.

Eric grabbed hold of the end of Godric's sleeve and held on, like that would do anything. The rational part of Eric's mind dryly noted that Cassie didn't really know how much of a low blow her words were, as he had never mentioned the specifics of the manner in which Godric had come to Taxon in the first place.

But that part was quickly ignored for the other part of Eric that was more than willing to let Cass leave and jump off a cliff for all he cared. So he was just going to sit there in silence, ignoring the idiot, sniffling human in his nest.

...Yeah, Eric can be kind of incredibly stubborn and sullen when the occasion called for it.

Godric was torn. Cassie was hurting, and Godric knew she didn't understand just how hurtful her words were, but their effects were undeniable. His own mood had been suddenly brought down, made worse by Eric's emotions, and if Cassie stayed, he didn't know he would be capable of giving any comfort.

No, he knew he wouldn't. Godric wasn't all that fantastic at providing human comfort in the first place, much less in a situation like this.

"Cassie, I'm sorry your friend is gone. I wish you weren't in pain." He wanted to make it clear he wasn't angry, that he cared, but he didn't insist that she stay.
