[Location: The streets, bitch] You don't believe, and your grievances show

Well, that had gone well. Cassie exited the nest, not crying as much or as often anymore, but definitely down in the dumps. Not only was Billy gone, but she didn't think and said a bunch of shit that made the hundreds upon hundreds year old vampires get emo. So, totally, not her intention. Not even a little bit.

Cassie started on a longish, roundabout way home, not wanting to get back there just yet. Pooch was off with that River girl, leaving Cassie alone in the house. That's why she'd gone to visit Billy. Because she was lonely and missing her bff. But he wasn't there. He wasn't anywhere. Cassie turned down a side street, hands tucked into the pockets of her hoodie, head lowered. There was the chance that Billy might come back. There was always a chance. But the odds of him remembering her when he returned? Were slim to none. And that made Cassie's stomach want to eat itself out of despair.

The sun was setting and Cassie lifted a hand to absently wipe at her cheek, feeling as if she was going to start weeping again any minute. She swallowed hard, then frowned, kicking at a rock with the toe of her boot. Not bothering to watch it skitter and bounce down the street.

((ooc: Backdated to directly after what happens at the nest in the SOB BILLY GONE thread. Yes, I'm too lazy to link it right now. Bite me. :D))

As usual, Dean is driving. He's really got nothing to do, is just killing time, listening to some Zeppelin as he cruises through the streets. It's about fifteen or so minutes after he leaves Bobby's house that he finds a familiar figure walking down the sidewalk, and it's almost like deja vu as he parks his car on the opposite of the street and gets out, walking across the road to step in pace with her.

"Hey," Dean says, leaning slightly to see her face. He's not dense; he can tell something's up. "Something wrong?"

Oh. Dean hasn't had someone important like that vanish on him-- not that he remembers, at least-- so he doesn't know how to relate. Sure, Xander vanished, but... that's not the same thing. He knows that the dorky kid and Cassie had been close since that first party.

"... Hell, I'm sorry, Cassie," Dean says, and hey, okay, he can wrap an arm around her shoulder this once, because she deserves some sort of comfort.

Dean doesn't do this often, but honestly, it seems like the right thing to do, considering the awkward friendship thing they've got going here. So he lets her do what she wants, pausing in their walk, and patting her.

He doesn't know what to say, though. So he'll just... be a silent support.

Dean has that power, apparently, to smell comforting. Which is really weird sounding, but hey, there's something about gunpowder and leather that's actually very relaxing. Dean looks down at her and grins a bit.

"Now drunk I can do." He replies, ruffling her hair a little. "C'mon. Hatches aren't fair."

Damn straight, sexiness.

Dean snorts at her question, and stuffs his hands in his jacket pocket. "Yeah, something like that. Not a drunken hobo anymore, but for when I was, yeah."

"Cassie?" Jessica was out tonight with thoughts of heading over to a bar. Maybe finding someone who reminded her a bit of Hoyt and who'd just let her talk at them for a while. It wasn't the most cheerful of thoughts, really, and she was happy when she saw the other girl. Happy 'til she realised Cassie was upset. "You okay?"

"Oh honey," she wasn't as unhappy as Cassie was, but seeing her friend like that made her frown. Jessica touched her shoulder lightly, "you want to talk about it?"

Jessica's face fell at that. People arrived and people left, she knew that. She didn't exactly have a whole lot of friends here, but if someone she knew left her? "I'm sorry."

She did a better job at the brave face thing than Jessica would have been able to. "Okay," she said, shrugging one shoulder. "Kinda antsy."

Carlton had been walking around Taxon, taking a break from his work on the Hack case. He'd taken the tram, but didn't think he'd gone too far. Lassiter was still getting used to Taxon, but it would come in time.

He glanced around and caught sight of a fairly familiar form. She was pretty much the only person he'd interacted with at length since he'd arrived. And he worried about her recovery. Both of these things might have been why he approached. A rock came rolling towards him from her direction, which he stopped with one foot.

"Bad day?" He guessed.

Carlton had never heard of someone leaving Taxon. Part of him was convinced that this was a good thing, but Cassie didn't look happy at all. Losing friends was difficult, and Carlton had to remind himself that she had been here a lot longer than he had, and as such, had developed relationships with the others in the city.

"I'm sorry." He said simply, reaching out and lightly touching her arm. He wasn't very good at this, or at least, hadn't been in the past. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

Ouch. Whether she meant it that way or not, Lassiter definitely assumed he was just a second (or third, fourth, fifth, etc) choice when Cassie was desperate. He didn't mind too much, though. He was worried about her mental, emotional, and physical health. Watching a movie and keeping an eye out for her wouldn't be so bad.

"Sure. Your place or mine?" Yes, he'd taken her advice and found a nice placed and hatched all the things a man could want for his very own bachelor pad.

"Sure do. Just down the block from the station." Lassiter knew he didn't always come off as the kind of guy who would take advice, but he had needed a place to stay and Cassie had offered sound advice. He nodded and put his hand at her back, guiding her toward his side of town.

"One condition. You can't make fun of my decorating. A lot of the stuff was there when I got there and I haven't had the time to use the hatches enough to make it my own." He gave her a small smile and even a wink. "Any movie in mind?" He added as they walked towards the nearest tram station.
