[Carlton turned on his tablet to the voice setting, not really feeling like showing his face currently. He had plans to shape Taxon up - not that he had shared them with anyone. The latest tablet buzz about yet another set of attacks had only helped him decide that there was no time like the present. He was in this Taxon place - so he might as well do the only thing he was good at. Maybe there would be a few who might join up? If not, he could do it alone. Or die trying.]

Alright, folks. I've only been here a little while now, but it's already easy to see that you all need a little law and a lot of order around this place.

So here's where I come in. Detective Carlton Lassiter, Santa Barbara Police Department. If you're interested in shaping this place up, feel free to contact me with this. Thing. Otherwise, keep your nose clean.

[Cartlon sighs, but decides that he has nothing better to do just yet. He only hopes that the tablet has call waiting in case someone more worth of his time wants to talk to him]

Interesting [There is hesitance in his voice] How about I lock up people who step out of line, and we try to keep the killing down to a minimum?

[He stops and thinks about all the things Cassie had told him about. He had promised to be more open minded. But this? It was ridiculous! Sighing, Carlton tries to put his doubt aside]

Alright, so let's say I believe you. These. Demons. They could get out of my prisons. How exactly do I keep them? [He stops for a moment, then rushes to add] Without killing them. Unless it was necessary.

Death isn't preferable?

Not..always. [He doesn't really know how to answer that question] It's not my first choice.

No one said anything about king, buddy. I've just noticed that you folks could use some help keeping things under control.

...Unless you like the number of wounded racking up every week. I don't know if you've heard the public calls or not, but this place isn't exactly sunshine and rainbows.

Not a fan, no, but there's not much someone like you can do about it, unless you're some sort of 'cop of the supernatural'.

You know, I've noticed something. The only people who have a problem with the way I come off are the ones I need to keep an eye on. Weird how that works out, huh? [It's okay, Dean, Lassiter just thinks you're a punk.]

I'm a cop, which means there's plenty I can do about it. [Yeah, he ignored your supernatural addition there.]

Bet whatever you'd like. While you're busy with your thumb up your ass, I'll be working on a way to shape this place up.

[Dramatic pause. Oh, Lassie]

And if you decide you really want to help, I'll be at the station.

[Laughing forever.]

Oh, great, we got a TV show cop on our hands. Next thing you know, you're gonna be feeding me some crappy pun about the most recent attack.

No, what you've got is someone sick of living in chaos. What would you rather I do, kid? Just sit back and hope nothing nasty comes lumbering my way? Everyone's got something they're good at. This is mine. If I'm not supposed to do that, then what exactly would you suggest?

[This might be more effective if he planned to listen to the answer]

[It would be, but Dean's going to reply anyway. In an almost scarily cheerful tone.]

First of all, you call me kid again, and I'll shoot you in the leg. Second, you got no idea what I do for a living, so don't assume. Y'know what they say about assuming, right?

[This is his 'Oooh I'm so scared' face. Learn it, love it.]

Alright, scout, don't get your panties in a twist. You're assuming about me and my abilities already, so unless you want to play the part of the pot in tonight's production, I suggest you quit while you're ahead.

Let me guess. You've got some problem with cops. Someone towed your precious car and you just couldn't get laid on prom night. So now you've got this beef with anyone carrying a badge. Am I close?

Yeah, I'm assuming about your abilities, 'cause I'm pretty damn sure you've never gone face-to-face with a vampire before. And no, I got a problem with cops who are too big for their britches. And with cops who try to do my job for me, and fail miserably at it.

[That would be the sound of Dean turning off his feed and getting up to go find Lassiter. Dean does not back down from a challenge.]

[Meanwhile, Lassiter passively cleaned his gun at his desk - not in the least worried about Dean or his loud and scary attitude.]

I'm very serious, sir. I have every intention of trying to make Taxon a safer place. I'm not sure what's so wrong with that.

I'd like to know jsut waht you think we're doing around here.

Ma'am, I've only been here a short time, and in that time I've seen a lot of blood spilled. I don't know about you, but I have no intention of letting that kind of thing continue. Now, I'm a trained police officer, and this, this place brought me my station. I've got the tool and the desire to set things right. That's all.

I'm hardly saying that it's a unacceptable desire; indeed- you should be considered noble for it. But I think that a little more than law and order will be required here- at least in most cases.

Yeah, so I've been told. Whatever it is that's going on in this place, I've got to try.
