003: ACCIDENTAL VISUAL//LOCATION: ENTERPRISE BRIDGE [i feel like a monster]

If anyone were watching Uhura step onto the bridge of the Enterprise, they wouldn't have assumed that anything was amiss. And nothing was, until the doors slid shut behind her and she took a look around.

This wasn't the bridge she knew. It looked the same, but there were things about it that were...off. But she couldn't put her finger on why things weren't right, and it irritated her.

Frowning, she started heading over to her station, then stopped suddenly and looked down at herself. And what was wrong there was more obvious - this wasn't the right uniform at all. The skirt was the right length, but it was all one dress, not the midriff-baring top and skirt she was used to.

She looked up and around, trying to find some more clues that would tell her where she was and what was happening. And then she spotted it on the main viewscreen.

"NCC 17-01?" Her disgust and anger was ill-disguised, hands clenched into fists as her eyes narrowed. "U.S.S. Enterprise? What the hell is happening here?"

[OOC: uhura's finally been glitched! she is now the mirror version of herself, meaning she'll be quick to anger and that there's the possibility of her getting aggressive/violent, but i will be sure to clear things with you before she does anything to your character. proceed with caution and have fun. :)

also, my apologies for taking so long to get this up and thanks for your patience! ♥]

With a roll of his too-blue eyes, he held his hands up in a mock boob grabby way for demonstration. "That. Come on, I know you're just--"

Hold on a second. On duty? He'd assigned minimal shifts that involved checking basic systems, doing maintenance, and recording weekly logs to be stored within the ship's computers that would be presented to Starfleet Command if they ever got out of Taxon, but this wasn't one of the hours he expected anyone to be on the ship; no one was on duty and certainly not him.

"Look, I might spend a little too much time here, but I'm not on duty and you don't have the authority to lecture me on that, Lieutenant."

Kirk reached into a pocket on the inside of his jacket, pulling out a phaser. Had someone gotten through the security systems and sabotaged the ship and attacked Uhura in the process? But, he had it set up so that the computer would alert him on his tablet no matter where he was if someone even attempted to get through the barriers put up to safeguard the Enterprise. Why wasn't he alerted to that?

"What something? Is someone on board-- Did they hurt you?"

"Recognize what?" His eyes trailed over her. Nothing seemed out of place and he only knew so from a year wasted trying to get her attention in a way she would never look at him, something he was long over and had focused more on trying to get her first name out of her, something that wasn't even really achieved, only witnessed during a tender moment between her and Spock. The scenario surrounding that moment had made finally hearing her say it feel more like something he had intruded upon rather than a victory to be celebrated.

There was something wrong with her uniform? He allowed his eyes to trail across her form from head to toe once more, not seeing a thing that was out of place. And just as he was starting to think she'd hit her head and was going to duck out to see if Bones was in sickbay to take a look at her, she seized his wrist and dragged him to the front of the bridge, where Kirk promptly wrenched his hand out of her grasp and backed up towards his ready room. The door slid open, but he didn't go inside, merely stood in the doorway and unknowingly under a sprig of mistletoe.

"Something is very wrong with you, Uhura. I think you should go to sickbay."

Kirk had a response to her turning that accusation around on him formed somewhere in his head, but the words wouldn't move from his brain to his tongue. Something that he would surely attribute to the weirdness of Taxon compelled him to do something he hadn't thought about doing since those days when a quick-to-anger security officer had broken his nose in a run down bar outside of a shipyard in Iowa; something he surely hadn't thought about doing or even wanted to, but he couldn't really stop himself from doing what he did next.

Seizing her upper arms, Kirk pulled Uhura to him and dropped his lips to hers. Oh, he was going to hate himself and the Taxon aliens for this later.

[ location: enterprise bridge ] he's just glad he's not getting the agony booth.

If she'd just ended the kiss after he'd initiated it, as he assumed she would (followed by a swift punch to the face, he was sure) after his brain registered what he was doing, it wouldn't have been that bad. The fact that she began kissing him back that intensely caught him off guard. Jim Kirk, after all, was only human and very a flawed human at that, and had had a thing for Uhura once upon a time. One couldn't blame him for stumbling back a bit into the ready room with her in tow, still locked at the lips, arms sliding around her as he returned that kiss just reverently, allowing himself to become lost in that old fantasy.

Lost in the moment, Kirk allowed this, falling back onto the couch and taking her down with him so that she ended up sort of in his lap. For now, the kissing continued, but his mind was quickly catching up to what was going on and with someone it shouldn't.

It was when Kirk drew back from the kiss enough to murmur the name of a woman he wasn't kissing but should be -- "Buffy." -- that he fully realized what he was doing. He was kissing Uhura and she was currently trying to get his jacket off him.

He seized her wrists to stop her from doing just that, maneuvering her off of him and onto the couch next to him, promptly standing and moving a few steps away to put some distance between them before whirling on her and demanding, "What the hell just happened?"

Confused? Kirk was the one who was confused. Uhura didn't like him and certainly not in this way (or so he thought) and suddenly she wanted in his pants? It didn't make any sense to him, nor did that random instinct to kiss her out of the blue like that. God, Spock was going to kill him. Buffy was going to kill him. All her talk of how horrible relationships had gone for her in the past and he goes and does this and he can't even say for sure why he did it.

"Nothing has happened before," he told her, firmly. "There was that accidental groping during that bar fight four years ago, but that doesn't even count. You're with Spock and I'm with Buffy. This... This isn't something that should be happening. At all."
