004 [holo] Goa'uld Trapping 101 [Location: Speares (North) - Vacant Building]
If he was previously bothered by the nature of Taxon(or Tax-son as he calls it.), it seems to be the furthest from his mind. Threat assessment comes first, it makes for nice black and white priorities he can wrap his mind around. He's scouted out a nice empty building; the inside of it looks much like a indoor car park, just without the cars. It has several large concrete pillars that would be perfect cover.
The area is open enough, for getting clear shots from cover. In the back of his mind he hopes it won't come to that. But if he does, Daniel had already gotten his hands on a couple of zat guns. Then on O'Neill's most recent trip to the replicator hatches, he procured a few very important items. First he got himself a whole mess of in'tar rounds(non-lethal) for his P-90 and nine-mil. He still has his lethal rounds at easy access but... you know, he kinda likes Vala. And he is always promising to try it 'Daniel's way' first. Finally, the most important thing is a forcefield trap.
He set the device up where it would be obscured until activated. Also placing it a nice central location a cocky Goa'uld bent on destoying imprudent little humans would likely stand. The remote for the shield device he's already handed over to Daniel. Whom is of course working with him for this. He gives Daniel a short nod once everything is in place.
Jack himself has outfitted himself in his somewhat typical combat gear, opting for black over his usual greens. He easily falls back into his old blacks ops training.
Of course, all of that was not transmitted. The next part is: he turns on his the holo function for his tablet, first addressing everyone but Vala/Qetesh in a locked transmission, "All right, kids. Colonel Jack O'Neill here." He's crouched down in his black uniform with his hand on his weapon. "Ya got my location there on your map. I'm going to say this once: Stay. the. Hell. Away." He shifts on one knee, "If you choose to ignore that advice. You're our back-up."
"Me and Daniel have years of experience with the Goa'uld. We have a way to neutralize her." Jack gestures with a hand, "if you got in your mind to help, do not. I repeat, do not engage Qetesh without my or his go ahead." He raises a finger and says sternly, "If so much as one of you can't follow that simple order, I don't care if you're not in the military, I will shoot you myself. If you think you can do better, wait until we're done."
"And Daniel would like me to remind you folks, we want her alive. So play nice."
He purposely left out too many details in the semi-public transmission, in the event that Vala/Qetesh managed to hack her way through a locked transmission. He mentioned nothing about the forcefield trap.
THAT little speech out of the way, a speech he hopes doesn't live to regret it. Actually he hopes he doesn't die and regret it. He let out a sigh then messed with his tablet for feed Vala/Qetesh a direct message, "Ketish, babe!"
He beamed his most sarcastic smile, "It's been ages! How ya doing? Must be tough having no Jaffa around to do your bidding. Guess that means you gotta come crush us yourself. Or you know..." he shrugs mockingly, "...just sit there on your thrown tossing empty threats. Not that I mind... with you staying where you are it's like you're not even here. Kinda nice there I bet. What with all your servants--" He grins then snaps his fingers, "Oh, wait! You don't have any servants either."
Yes, it was entirely nesscery to mock her.
(ooc: Of course, you guys can completely ignore O'Neill's advice and run in guns blazin'. He just won't be happy with you~)

Memories of Sha're and Amonet are beginning to resurface and he does his best to push them back. They can't cloud his mind. Not right now.
Daniel looks up when Jack... well, starts acting like Jack, and raises an eyebrow at him like 'do you have to?'
no subject
In other words Jack, don't fuck with her, she means business.
It's an open challenge, and she's more than willing to take him up on it. Whatever trick he thinks he has up his sleeve, it can't possibly be a serious threat to her.
"It can be arranged that my threats are not so empty, if you'd prefer." she snarls, "So far I have allowed these simpletons to live, are you volunteering to put an end to my benevolence?"
no subject
"Volunteering?" Jack grins wide, "Hell, Ketish, I think you know me better than that! I'm insisting. Big difference there."
Yeah, he can't control it. He just has to be snarky at snake heads. It's what he does.
"So what'd ya say? Come and smite me. You know you want to." Jack, the cause of all his own worst problems.

Striding out purposefully she makes her way to their location, sweeping through the streets of Taxon like she already owns the place. God help anyone who she passes...
no subject
"Fuck." He utters momentarily, knowing he's forgotten something important and goes to check his pockets, when Qetesh approaches. Now there's a woman on a mission, he thinks, stepping back out of her way, wondering who the hell she is. He barely manages to raise an eyebrow at her, not to mention the outfit before he finds him self flying through the air and hurtling towards the wall of a nearby building.
The crack as his head slams into the stone, is enough to tell him he's in serious danger of dying here. He can barely focus and work out what the hell just happened before she's standing over him, the last thing he sees before he blacks out completely is Qetesh's face smiling at him from above.
no subject
Except he doesn't look much up to walking, but he's still breathing at least. Qetesh slaps him into consciousness for the transmission as she turns the tablet back on, locked to just Jack and Daniel who she knows is there.
"My apologies," the visual shows the dying man on their screen, "I was a little distracted." The sword comes into view as it pierces his chest. The blood starts to spill from his lips and she withdraws her weapon and cuts transmission again.
no subject
He shifts where he is, "Son of a bitch..." He had almost foolishly hoped for no causalities.
He then turns to look at Daniel to see how well he's holding up. He knows it's like Sha're all over again. Jack knows the feeling well himself with what happened with Skaara... only that had a better end, sorta. He gives him a look that says, 'can you handle this?' He is pretty sure he can but... he has to check. After that he makes a hand signal to take up positions.
no subject
At the signal, Daniel takes up his zat gun, the shield's remote and an in'tar already tucked into his belt, and heads out of sight.
no subject
"You waste your time on this futile fight," she sneers. "Your time would have been better spent, convincing those ignorant humans to accept their fate gracefully and with some dignity intact."
no subject
"Oh, I wouldn't call it futile exactly," he calls out, "Maybe a little ill-advised and crazy," Jack turns out from the cover of his pillar to get a few shots off. Without a pause for thought he moves to his next cover position.... just a little bit closer to the trap.
"Hey, Ketish? Can you do something about the voice?" he very carefully peeks out from his spot, "It's really starting to grate."
no subject
He shifts silently, listening for his cue and hoping to God that Jack doesn't do anything stupid. Daniel trusts Jack with his life, but he knows his style.
no subject
"If you weren't so ill-advised and crazy, then I might have considered sparing you. I'm sure you fully intend to spare me, hardly a threat at all." As far as she's concerned this is just a suicide mission, if she keeps the shield up she's got nothing to lose, are they seriously expecting her to drop it?
no subject
Not one of his brightest moves. He is standing free of cover like a nice big target. Of course, he is standing right where the trap is. He figures she'll do one of those throws with her hand device as she approaches. Thus knocking him aside and out of the trap just before it's activated.
He lowers his gun enough to be a smart ass, "Might want to check your host's memories there, Ketish. I'll cut your snaky ass out myself. Rather not, but hey, given the choice..." He takes a couple more steps back, "We both know she would rather die than spent one more second with you."
Jack subtly signals to Daniel. He wants that shield up at the first chance he gets.

So she stops a few feet short of the 'mark', before raising her hand and smirking at Jack, the hand device poised but not doing anything as yet.
"She's already managed seven years, you're not going to spoil mine and Vala's little reunion just yet are you?" Really she's just talking to see what he does. She tilts her head expectantly, eyes flashing.
no subject
"Seven years too many if you ask me," one hand slips behind him. He flips out his knife. Like what he's done in the past, he throws it. He doesn't aim for anything too vital, just something to get her attention. Likewise he hopes she doesn't have a new model of personal defense shield. After the knife is away he hunkers down in some cover inside the trap.
no subject
"Seven, they say on your Earth, is unlucky. It is for you, at least." Have Qetesh's hand device directed at your head Jack as she closes the gap, the intensity increasing as she nears.
no subject
The hand device drops him to his knees a short second later. His weapon falling to his side. He strains under the effect of the technology, even with his brains getting scrambled his mind is more on the mission. They can't risk her running around, "DANIEL!" Which translates in Jack-speak as 'spring the damn trap! I don't care if I'm in it'
no subject
Once the trap activates, he steps out.
no subject
The bloody knife still in her hand, and her own blood soaking her front now she kicks his gun that was still within reach away and only then, holding Jack on the brink of collapse does she turn to Daniel.
"Release me and I'll spare him," she growls, feeling her own strength subsiding at the severity of her injury. She grimaces against it. "One chance Daniel, just one chance."
no subject
"Don't," a very strained word directed at Daniel. Jack is left with little he can do but try to talk Daniel in the other direction, "Daniel, don't..."
no subject
It won't stop him, though, from pulling the zat gun from his belt, activating it and firing through the one-way shield at the Goa'uld.
no subject
Her shield was useless in here, and she couldn't send anything out. Jack's own knife in her hand and holding him paralysed still with her hand device, Qetesh goes to drive the knife into him right as the sooner than expected zat shot hits her.
no subject
The zat blast bought him just enough leeway to leach forward. It's not much but it does avoid a knife to the heart. The knife goes deep into his shoulder instead, "Daa'ah!" If he and Vala survive this they'll each have a nice shoulder scar to show for it. At any rate, some of that zat blast translates into him due to proximity, he promptly crumples forward, a hand instinctively already on the knife.
Yep, everything went according to plan.
