The Doctor has to start working eventually. And while nobody hates the idea of working quite like the Doctor hates working, he hates the idea of being back in prison even more than that.

So, behold the Doctor, carrying things from a replication unit to the square where he's working on his next project. At present, the things he's creating are three-foot pieces of metal. He's spitting out a few at a time, and then moving them to a large pile where he has more already stacked up.

There's also a series of papers he's had made up sitting not far off from the stacks of sheet metal. They read: MISSING: ONE SONIC SCREWDRIVER. HONESTLY, NOW, STEALING ISN'T RIGHT AT ALL, IS IT?

Oh, he's also got a plate of pink-frosted cupcakes. A Time Lord's gotta eat, y'all.

She smiles at him, more easily this time. "Promise, Doctor. I'm alright and this is nothing. Doesn't even hurt."

Well it doesn't as long as she doesn't put pressure on it. It is still a bit tender to the touch.

He's not convinced, but he'll tuck that information in the back of his mind and keep an eye on her arms. If someone's hurting her, he'll want to find out, and soon.

"So! I'll be out again tonight, I think," he says. "But I should be back by tomorrow, again. Sadly, this thing won't be built in a day. Or even two. Bit too big."

Rose doesn't like this whole 'out again tonight' thing. She knows there's not really a lot she can do about it beside stamp her foot and huff a lot. She's possibly paranoid that he's trying to avoid her during night time hours.

"So you're going to be building this tonight?"

"Sort of, yeah," he says. His plans, of course, are a bit less than simple, but that's always the point, isn't it?

"I should be having tea with Morgana at some point, as well," he adds.

"Sort of?" Rose asks, eyebrows raising. It's silent prodding.

"Sure she's not going to have you locked up or poison you?"

Yes she is slightly worried about this. Morgana was very, very angry when she heard her on the witness stand.

"Nah," the Doctor says. "She's got a vicious streak, but I don't think she's dangerous. Well, not too terribly dangerous. Well, not always dangerous."

He sniffs. "But I'll keep in contact with you on the tablet. In case of anything dangerous."

She notices that he didn't answer her question about 'sort of'. She narrows her eyes at him, deciding whether to push it or not.

Ultimately she decides on not. For now.

"Because you do stay out of trouble badly. I don't want to have to come looking for you, Doctor." She's teasing him but she's terribly serious about coming to look for him as well.

"Do you really think Morgana is the sort to be interested in trouble?" the Doctor asks, tilting his head to the side in amusement. "She's more likely to mock my name and fret about in the castle than anything else."

"I know she doesn't like you very much, Doctor. She doesn't understand why I do and that makes me a bit nervous. I'll feel more comfortable knowing you're alright," Rose answers honestly. She doesn't honestly think that Morgana would physically hurt the Doctor but she does think Morgana would carelessly toss verbal barbs that would hurt worse than anything physical. Her Doctor is far too broken for Rose to tolerate anymore breaking if it can be avoided at all.

"Nah, she probably adores me, she just keeps it a very serious secret," the Doctor replies flippantly. He's got far too much on his mind to worry about that, at any rate.

"Have you met anyone since you arrived? Besides me, of course."

Rose shoots the Doctor a 'have you gone completely nutters' look then goes back to her counting.

"Quite a few yeah. Tara, Ruby, DG, Sam Spade. 'Course Morgana and Doul."

She doesn't think how the Doctor might use that information. She's just listing off names of people she's met.

"Mmm, Ruby, now, there's another one who doesn't like me much. Don't think I've met DG, though. Good bloke, is he?"

The Doctor started on another pile of metal, this time, long, thin poles with a sharp point at the end.

"Yeah? She seemed alright to me. Was nice enough," Rose responds, one eyebrow arching up. "She not he. She's a good bird.

Rose studies what the Doctor is replicating now. She's trying to figure out what he's building. "Goin' to be defending ourselves medieval?."

"Do you really think I'd build weapons, Rose?" the Doctor asks, sounding offended at the very idea.

"Didn't mean like that," Rose responds. "Meant more defense. Against somethin' like giant hamsters trying to stop us from leaving."

"No," the Doctor says with a smile. "No, not this time. I doubt we could face them down with a physical attack. They do enough to us without even picking up a finger. Or a paw."

"But you're brilliant. You'll figure out a way for us to get out anyway." It's the reason she doesn't feel bad for doing her own research and intending on leaving everyone else. He'll get them out. She counts a couple of sheets of metal before speaking again.

"You suppose they're actual deities? Or just people with so much power they forgot they weren't." She's sort of banking on the second one.
