x13 [accidental visual] darling I want to destroy you

((Expect either or both Time Lords to answer replies. lol.

Warning: Swordfighting, lots of stabbing, and blood in the Doctor-Master thread.))

When the visual switches on the only thing it momentarily shows is the wall that the tablet slammed into, and then as it slowly drags away the shaky view reveals two Time Lords, bloodied, bruised, and breathing heavily. There's a vicious look in the Master's eyes, the visual brushing across the side of his face and catching a small spatter of red before dropping back down.

The tablet sits fittingly minimized in the Master's bracelet, but it displays the scene: the Master and the Doctor, fencing foils brandished, and a quiet Taxon street around them (certainly if they had at one time had company, their fight has long since chased it away). Their is nothing innocent about this fight anymore. They are both out to win, and they'll both fight dirty to get it.

"Really, Doctor," the Master drawls, "you can do better than that." Because mocking an angry Time Lord is always a brilliant idea.

If any brave soul were to comment on what in Taxon's name they thought they were doing... well. It may at least distract them from losing all their blood on the streets.

Without thinking, Morgana quips back. "Your footwork should be easily sorted," she's not critical, just factual, "because you are a good dancer."

It's at this moment Morgana recognizes the Doctor's dueling partner.

The Doctor bursts into laughter. "You'd need the proper music to set to---"

Wait.

He freezes mid-thrust and looks over at Morgana. He knows how she knows that and the Master can't know.

The earlier statement was accidental. This man, the Master, Morgana has seen before -- inside the Doctor's head. He was dancing with the woman in the red dress. Thus, she has to stop looking at the Master, who, she hopes, has no idea the significance of her statement.

Wisely, Morgana does not add to her earlier faux pas, and plays it off as if she was actually talking to the Doctor. "You will just have to do without music, Doctor. If this was a proper tournament, you would have better luck."

"I have enough luck, thank you," the Doctor says. He throws another few attacks towards the Master. He can't panic. He can't focus on Morgana. He can't let the Master know. He can't know. He can't know.

"Pay attention, would you?" he snaps at his opponent.

Taking a step back, casually, as if to stay clear of the fight, Morgana looks back and forth between the two. She doesn't know much about their relationship, other than the Doctor thinks the Master might spread rumours, and that the man is important enough to leak out into the corridor of the Doctor's mind.

She's staying though, someone will need to step in, verbally, not literally, if it looks like this duel will wind up being to the death.

"I'm paying perfect attention!" the Doctor snaps. He leaps back out of the Master's range, then moves in to attack again.

He is distracted. He wants Morgana to run away, she shouldn't be here. She shouldn't be seeing this.

But she's there, and he can't lose. He throws another swing, and a punch towards the Master's face. He can't lose.

It's clear the tone of the duel altered after the recognized the Master, and she knows, or at least, she thinks, this is a continuation of some previous grievance, to which she is not privy.

"I can assure you," she addresses the Master with confidence in her words, but without any indication of recognition or significance, "I am little more than an observer. If he loses, it will not be on my account. It will be due more to his footwork,” see, that dancing comment earlier was definitely about the Doctor.

"My footwork is just fine," the Doctor snaps. When the first punch connects, he decides to throw another, just for good measure.

"But distracting is a good word. Morgana, leave!"

"He is not my pet convict, sir." Morgana almost makes a comment about Rose, but now that the recognition has settled in, the other man makes her slightly nervous. He may be smaller than the Doctor, but he feels (whether it is her own impression, or the Doctor's memories, she could not tell) more dangerous.

And the Doctor is dangerous enough. He is also someone Morgana feels inclined to disagree with at almost every given opportunity. Maybe she can be of equal distraction to the Master, who is looking rather the worse for wear, with his bloodied nose. She addresses him. "You should be careful the Doctor not break you too much."

If she were at home, her presence would have been enough to bring the tone of the duel back down to something resembling reasonable. Fights rarely turned this brutal front of ladies. As it stands, Morgana's fairly confident she'd going to be mopping up someone's blood in a few minutes.

She's in danger, he knows this. If the Master works out that Morgana means something to the Doctor, she's dead. She's worse than dead. He needs to get her away from all of this.

He struggles to try to knock the rapier out of the Master's hand, to try to buy himself a moment or two of time.

The close quarters combat has Morgana stepping forward -- but still out of the furthest reach of either of the rapiers. Two men and sharp objects that close, never ends well, and she would rather not see anyone lose an eye.

In fact, this whole event has gone on long enough. The Doctor is fighting like he's desperate (although why he would be confounds Morgana entirely) and the Master is clearly seething.

"Gentleman," she's loud enough to be heard over the sounds of the swords striking and the two men grunting at their efforts. "Enough is enough! Call it a draw!"

She debates pulling out her tablet but who would she possibly contact to deal with such things? For the first time in Taxon, Morgana wishes she carried more than just a dagger.

[OOC: Posting order shot to hell for expediency's sake.]

"Morgana, get out of here!" the Doctor shouts in her direction. This isn't any of her business, and he'll be damned if she's going to get hurt over it.

Not that he cares. Well, not that he'd admit he cares.

He darts away from the Master and barrels towards her.

"There a part of 'run' you don't understand?"

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-05-04 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The sudden turn of events, the Doctor rushing towards her, both surprises, and if she were to admit it (she won't) scares her.

Another thing it does is have Morgana scramble back about ten feet or so, right up against the wall of the nearest building.

Even if she were inclined (she isn't) to follow any of the Doctor's orders at the moment, there's nowhere for her to run so she takes another tactic.

"What are you doing?" It's full of self-righteous anger that he would rush at someone clearly unarmed. It's better than any other emotion leaking through to offset the balance of power even further.

"Morgana, I'm really, really sorry about this," he says, and he grabs her arm, tugging her towards the nearest storefront.

She is trying to get herself killed, he thinks, and the moment the Master realizes hurting her will be to his advantage, he will. The Doctor can't allow that. He promised himself he'd protect Morgana.

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-05-05 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Doctor, let go of me!" It's as officious as she could possibly sound.

This is the moment where Morgana, with cause, would punch him -- or, at least, put in some semblance of a struggle. The problem is usually when she is being manhandled, there aren't swords being held by the other party. Plus, he's grabbed the arm that she would traditionally use to grab her dagger.

She tries pulling away, but the Doctor is actually frightening her, and she can't judge the angle of the swing of the rapier, if she pushed him, so there is a lot less effort than she would like to put into it.

The door to the store is open, and the Extras are paying little attention to the commotion outside.

And the Doctor is a lot stronger than he looks. Since ordering didn't work, pleading might, because his grip is going to leave bruises. "Please Doctor, let me go."

[identity profile] rude-not-ginger.livejournal.com 2010-05-05 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
He looks startled by her pleading, but he can't just leave her out here. He can't. He doesn't want to hurt her, but she will get hurt if she sticks around. He releases her into the store.

"You're going to hate me for this, and that's fine," he says. "But I'm not letting you get hurt, Morgana. You need to stay alive, even if you don't seem to realize that."

He looks at the Extras and puts on his best commanding voice. "Do not let this girl leave this store, do you understand?"

Re: [Location: Random Street now called Foe Yay Circle)

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-05-05 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Now released, Morgana feels justified in snarling, "What are they going to do, Doctor? Are they going to politely ask me to stay?"

She's realized the Extras are soulless, but also harmless so she makes a move towards the the door.

[identity profile] rude-not-ginger.livejournal.com 2010-05-05 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
He pulls the door shut and puts the sonic to the lock. It welds it shut.

"I'm sorry," he calls in. "I'm so sorry."

But with that, he turns and bolts back to the Master, back to the fight at hand.

Re: [Location: Random Street now called Foe Yay Circle)

[identity profile] magicalskeptic.livejournal.com 2010-05-05 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
At first, Morgana cannot believe what she's positive she's just seen. As she watches the Doctor rush back to the Master, she tries the door handle, even though she knows it won't turn.

The Doctor has locked her in. He's seen. He knows how much such a thing disturbs her, and the fact he's not only witnessed it first hand, but is now using that knowledge against her, is the only thing that keeps her panic in check.

She turns to the Extras and tries to move to around them. Like cattle, or sheep being herded, they stay together, making it impossible for her to get by. In fact they are also making it difficult to see the continuation of the duel, and Morgana loses sight of it altogether.

This would be humorous, if Morgana could find a space in her mind for an emotion other than anger and panic. It's like a pendulum, which emotion is dominant at any given moment.

It must take a good quarter of an hour, before Morgana, ducks behind the counter, away from the Extras, and through the back room. There, a stock-boy tries to grab at her (thus teaching her the Extras can touch without asking, but not hurt) but doesn't get the hold he needs to keep her there.

Also, the dagger pointed at him makes him stop, just for a moment. It is more like he is distracted by how shiny it is, than fear of anything she may do with it.

The exit Morgana does find opens out to a back alley, that runs the whole distance of the street. She runs down it, but can no longer hear the telltale sounds of a duel, when she finally finds a break in the buildings, giving her a chance to look out into the street.
