034: [ location : the sky ] the blues walked in and met me

It's not the first time Buffy's woken up with a shiny new set of memories, but the other times haven't been like this. The other times she hadn't found out that she's a monster. A vampire. A thing.

Losing her powers for two months, the ordeal with Angelus, losing Dean, going through that cruel glitch with Ethan, losing Giles for the second time... the combined weight of the past year spent in Taxon is finally beginning to take its toll on her, and in epic fashion.

Which is why she's decided to take matters into her own hands. Literally. Anyone looking up at the sky will see an odd, vaguely discernible blur, flying into an invisible barrier, impacting hard and then bouncing off again, only to repeat the action. Over and over. She's trying to break through the wall, and it isn't working.

[ooc: canon bump to issue #33, but before the big Twilight reveal. Gonna be slowtagging on this one due to hiatus, but there we go. ALSO she has her tablet with her, so is contactable.]

[ kirk's never been very good with emotions. he stumbles and trips over words and is better at displaying how he feels with actions rather than with words (which, in a way, has him rather understanding of buffy's reaction, even if he can't see what sparked her to respond in such a manner). with gaila, whenever things got like this, to a point where his throat started feeling tight and that general feeling of discomfort with a situation set in, he'd make up an excuse and leave her to deal with it on her own. he'd be lying if he said he didn't feel that urge now, but what he felt for buffy was stronger than what he had for the orion and that drove him to remain gazing up at her and to open his mouth and say more. ]

Do what? Babe, come down here. Talk to me.

[ location: castle summers ] wow notifs, fail more please? ~_~

Kirk steps back to give her room to enter, discarding his tablet on a nearby table. He feels he should say something, especially since he wanted her to come back down and talk to him, but can't find the proper words. Instead of standing there awkwardly and internally debating, he goes to her and pulls her into his arms. Physical comfort will have to do until he can say something that doesn't sound foolish and out of place— better with actions than words, after all.

[ location: castle summers ] it really is sometimes.

Thankfully, she speaks first and spares him the humiliation of saying the wrong thing. It's better, he feels, that she's offering this up of her own accord and he's not coaxing it out of her. He'd rather he tell it to him because she wants to and not because he wants her to.

Kirk draws back enough to see her face, rubbing his palms up and down along her arms. "And?"

You'll have to give him a minute, Buffy, as he's going to just sort of stare and blink as his scientific-inclined mind tries to make sense of what she just said. Power from dead slayers, absorbing them like a vampire. It...really isn't going to make as much sense to him as it does to people who are used to the supernatural, no matter how much he's warmed up to the world Buffy lives in. Acknowledging the existence of vampires and magic doesn't mean he understands how that all works.

He is, however, sympathetic. Very sympathetic to the implications of what's happening to her. Kirk can only imagine what knowing that your power is that which isn't yours and comes at the sacrifice of others is like.

"Oh, Buffy," he cups her cheek in one hand. "That's... Are you certain?"
