Cordelia wakes up with a start, sitting upright on her bed with her hands clutching her blanket like a lifeline. For several moments she looks around her in alarm, wondering where the hell she is and where the others are, wondering if this is another one of those times she unfortunately opened her eyes only to be sliced and diced again and--

Then she rests her head on her hands, and breathes. It's over now. It's over and done with and they're all safe but the images are still burned in her brain, like a vision that's been put on eternal loop.

Slowly - mindful of the pains that plague her - Cordelia gets out of bed. She looks down at herself, sees the numerous bandages that are wrapped around her body, and sighs.

And here she thought she'd be safe in Taxon. Pfft.

She gets up, and walks over to the mirror. Cordelia looks at her reflection, and bites her lip.

God.

"Mummy girl much?" she whispers.

Because I was wondering if you'd bought any good ones lately?

[Bugger that, he can't even pretend that's interesting.]

Well, you're dating Angel, and we'll probably be working together. Why wouldn't I want to?

Because you're Spike and it's weird?

[ she then relents. ] Uh... okay. You're right. I like shoes, and branded clothes. Oh, and magazines, can't ever forget those.

What about you, what do you like?

You of all people should know that me with a soul is different from me without.

[So the difference is less pronounced than it is with Angel. Doesn't mean it's not there.]

Me? I like, uh, fighting demons. My shows on the telly. Things like that.

And let's not forget the fact that I don't know you that well, Spike. Aside from being a badass vampire who tortures other vamps when you're without a soul, and that you're singing love songs to Buffy when you're with one, I don't exactly have that much experience with you to be able to tell the difference.

[ she sighs ] Which shows? Maybe we like something in common.

But you've seen Angel and Angelus. I'm just saying. I might be Spike, but I am different from back then. Besides singing love songs to Buffy, which I really don't do that often. And did once before I got my soul. [Okay, maybe it is pretty frequently, relatively speaking.]

[ all this important talk about souls and vampires who have them are abandoned for the sake of a snort and a very important question: ]

How is it a good show for you? It's a soap opera!

Well, yeah, but it's got all that supernatural stuff in it. Plus, it's addicting. Couldn't just stop watching with Timmy down the bloody well.

[ she chuckles. ] And here I thought you're a bit far from being a dork, dorkus.

I'm not a dork. [Not for over a century. Most of the time.] Anyway, your boyfriend likes Barry Manilow.

Tell me something I don't know. No, seriously.

I'm just saying, he's got far worse tastes.

I'm sorry, but from where I'm standing, loving Passions and Barry Manilow pretty much puts you two on the same dumb spot.
