after this.
The Doctor leaves Rose sleeping after a while and heads to the console. He promised he wouldn't take them from Taxon until Rose woke up, and he plans to keep that promise. He'll say goodbye to Rose, send her back to her world, and then take everyone else back. Everyone except the Master. He can't give him back to the timeline, he just can't. He needs to convince himself that he's wrong, but that will take time.
But, there's something he needs to do in Taxon, first. Someone he has to give some very sad information to.
He steers the TARDIS towards another room in HC Clements, one with another victim of the Master's resting up. Vaguely, he recognizes that going to visit Morgana while Rose is sleeping won't look very good to Rose, who is already suspecting he's up to more than he actually is, but he can't just run away from this. Not this time.
He parks the TARDIS in the middle of the room and heads towards the door.

He lets Guinevere take charge since he's mostly there for protection purposes and it's Guinevere who has a much more vested interest in how Morgana is doing being her maid-in-waiting and close friend.
That's not to say he's not concerned for Morgana and doesn't also want to make sure she's okay. It's just...he hides it better.

Her statement is a pleasantry, really, and politeness that is expected even given the situation. He has done so much to help them and all the others despite her catching him blaming himself for the whole thing. Either way, Gwen could not judge someone she knew so little of. He is a friend of Morgana's and is looking after her now; That is enough for him to earn her good graces.
"Is Morgana well? I have clothes and things for her," she says, reiterating the already known in her anxiousness as she clutches at the bag's strap.
Re: [ location: hc clements ]
How is he supposed to phrase this? Casey seems open-minded, but it took an age to explain mental walking to Morgana. Gwen might not understand. Still, he has to try.
"The Master hurt her. Psychically. Sort of like...magic, I guess, is the best way to explain it."
[ location: hc clements ]
"So the Master's gotten inside her mind and screwed her up bad, huh? That guy's a real piece of work. Is she a danger to herself? To Guinevere here?"
[ location: hc clements ]
"...Why would he have done something like this to her?" she's quick with her question, watching the Doctor ever closely as she awaits his answer.
Guinevere was hardly a bold girl but, with her hands still clenched on her strap and a raising of her chin, she channeled the countenance she admired in Morgana. She did find strength enough in herself to do it on occasion, but more often then not it was in the face of a very different man. Today the Doctor would have to do.
"I must see her," she insists finally, faltering one a fraction beneath her worry.
Re: [ location: hc clements ]
The 'was' is important, because after this, the Doctor doesn't think Morgana will consider him her friend ever again.
He nods to Casey. "So, yeah, right piece of work he is. And I don't---I don't think it's a good idea. Not yet, let her rest."
[ location: hc clements ]
Guinevere's not gonna like that last part. He steps closer to her and looks to her for a decision. He'll back whatever she decides, but first, he offers his opinion.
"I've seen cases like this before. Morgana might not want you to see her like that. She'll be saying and doing things she doesn't mean because she's...uh...mind-sick."
He tosses the Doctor a look which says 'Yeah, couldn't think of anything better, sorry'.
[ location: hc clements ]
But then they are each giving her reasons not to see Morgana. As if Guinevere hasn't been the one there for her each and every time she's been plagued by nightmares. Were this anything like frantic days her friend spent in fear of leaving her bed and speaking storms and death and dragons...well, Gwen would know how to handle it, if this is like all of Morgana's worst days.
"I have seen her through the most trying of mind sicknesses in all my years of knowing her," she says, addressing each of them. It's less of the soft pleading from before as she speaks to them as sternly as she can manage. She's only succeeded once, and this needs to succeed again if she wants to see Morgana. "So I know precisely what she needs right now, Doctor, be it rest or someone to hold her hand."
Re: [ location: hc clements ]
"She's not how she usually is, Gwen. She's---it's not good."
[ location: hc clements ]
"It's your call. But I'm with the Doc. I reckon it's a bad idea."
He turns to address the Doctor again. "If she's heading in there, I'm coming in too. Just in case." He should be able to tell from Casey's expression what he means by that.
[ location: hc clements ]
It's really the only thing that could tip this in her favor. Morgana has always had the utmost concern for her, and in the face of the recent events she could easily be worried for Gwen and Arthur. Unfortunately the prince's whereabouts were still a point of concern, but perhaps seeing Gwen would help the situation more than hurt it.
She glances to Casey momentarily and nods a silent thank you to him.
Re: [ location: hc clements ]
"But if anything happens, Casey, you get her out of there, yeah?"
[ location: hc clements ]
He doesn't have his tranquilizer gun on him, but he figures he'll be able to handle Morgana if she gets violent. If it comes to that. Knowing Guinevere she won't want Morgana hurt even to protect her, so he's not gonna use force unless there's no other option.
Probably just carrying her out of the room would do the trick.
[ location: hc clements ]
Guinevere will make good on any promise if it means she can make sure Morgana is well taken care of. She is not certain why there is so much concern; the Morgana she knew is always gentle and kind with her even if she's rarely such with others, even at her worst.
Re: [ location: hc clements ]
"She's not entirely herself, if I make the suggestion that you two should leave, trust me and get her out of there," he whispers.
The Master is cruel, and he's not sure if he'll go so far as to hurt Gwen in order to hurt Morgana in order to hurt the Doctor, but complicated schemes with very little chance of success were always the Master's forte.

He follows after Guinevere, keeping close.

The rooms at HC Clements are quite different from the palace. She wonders as she enters the room and heads for the couch where Morgana lies whether or not it is properly comfortable for her. Morgana seemed to be resting well enough as-is, despite looking particularly tired, much more tired than she had been when Gwen first arrived. She takes note of the bandage at her wrist and takes a seat a the edge of the couch, slipping the bag off of her shoulder.
"Morgana...?" She says very softly, not wanting to disturb her if it is unnecessary.
Re: [ location: hc clements ]
He has to live, though. The Doctor knows this.
He steps over to Guinevere and nods. "She's exhausted," he says. "She might wake up for you, but she wouldn't for me."
Re: [ location: hc clements ]
So, she looks at Gwen, and offers the weakest of smiles that would not pass for anything other than gratitude that she's here.
It also helps that her head feels clear, not free of him, but a moment of clarity.
Tentatively, she tries to sit up, but winces at a her head not appreciating the movement, so she gives up. Not that she would say it aloud, but she was going to hug her friend, and instead settles for taking a hand.
"I am so happy to see you are all right."
There is dead silence from anyone else, at the moment.

"I should say the same to you," her voice is still soft, as if raising it would cause distress. "I figured the Doctor was ill-equipped for your tastes, so I was sure to bring some of your things. You emerald dress, in particular, and your brush among other things."
If anything she'd like to rush her back to the Royal Chambers by some means and have her recover in the comfort of her own room, but she knows that isn't entirely possible.
