I [Holo] Finding myself making every possible mistake

"—sexual intercourse, I've said it like a dozen… Xander?" Anya frowns. Xander's basement is far from a pleasant place, but it is somewhat less metallic and plus, there is Xander and juice boxes and she's pretty sure from the way he'd been staring at her that he was going to end up engaging in coitus with her, except now he's gone.

She crosses her arms and frowns. "This isn't funny! Where are you, Xander? Is this because you're friends with the Slayer? Because I don't think it's fair that I suffer just because you guys keep pissing off very powerful evil forces."

As it becomes clearer and clearer that Xander is not here, and the demon behind this is not making itself known, she shifts from foot to foot uncomfortably.

"Hello? Anyone?" She glances around, looking sulky. "I'm getting cold."

Okay, that just makes Willow frown as she tries to figure out where exactly the Sanctuary is in relation to the castle.

"What?" Distraction. "What are you talking about?" ...Actually, better question: "No, wait, what do you last remember? Why didn't I like you?"

There were a bunch of options at that point, but Willow wanted a concrete answer that would explain a lot more than she could guess.

"I assume it's because I'm a demon. Or because I tried to trick you into restoring my power center and inadvertently released vampire you onto the world. Or maybe you're just jealous that Xander is attracted to me." She folds her arms and shrugs. "Cordelia is bringing me clothing."

"Cordelia? Oh, good." At least someone is. "...Was that the last thing you saw of me? The vampire me thing?"

Wait, something needs to be addressed.

"Anya, I don't care that Xander's attracted to you. I mean, I do, because he's my best friend and you're a good girlfriend for him, but you can have him. I wouldn't be competing with you or anything."

"No, don't be ridiculous. That was--" She stops. Well, something from that little disclaimer got through. "Girlfriend? I'm a girlfriend?" She smiles a little. "A good one? Did the sex work? I mean, I really just wanted to get over him, but that sounds like a positive outcome as well."

That answers everything. Anya's... really far behind Willow. Apparently the timeline thing is really real. Not that she didn't believe Tara and Buffy... and Spike, too. But it's kind of different to actually see someone arrive like this.

"Yeah, you and Xander have been together for a long time now. You seem pretty happy. In my time, anyway. And, uh, Anya? He's yours. All yours. Not mine. O-okay? I have someone else."

"Yes, Oz, I know. But that didn't exactly stop you when he was with Cordelia." ...the dislike thing is pretty mutual in Anya's time. This may take a while.

"I know. I messed up then. But i-it's different now. I haven't been with Oz for almost two years."

Willow looks a little uncomfortable. Maybe she should wait on this whole thing. Anya doesn't look like she's going to accept any of this or get over Willow's supposed claim on Xander. A now non-existent claim.

"Oh. But you have someone else? And Xander's with me in the future?" She frowns. "I want to go home and be with him. Can't you do magic or something?"

Willow shrugs and shakes her head. "If I could, I'd be back home with Tara now."

Which... should answer the whole "who's she with now" question if Anya's paying attention. Not that Willow actually meant it as such.

Anya's busy paying attention to her own thoughts. Willow isn't as interesting. "We were about to have sex, I'm sure of it. What man can resist a naked woman? Besides the gay ones."

Lucky Willow? She shrugs again, looking a little uncomfortable. "Sorry, Anya. Xander's not here. S-should I just wait for Cordelia to find you a-and then we can talk later?"

She nods. "Yes, that sounds workable. I-- wait. Are there other people here that I know? Besides Cordelia and whatshisname the other Watcher?"

"You mean Wesley? Buffy's here, too... and probably a lot of people you might not know will know you."

"But no Xander. Is there any reason they took me and not him? Not that I wanted him to be kidnapped; thinking about bad things happening to him makes me feel upset inside, but he knows you guys better."

Willow shrugs helplessly. "I think he was here before? S-so maybe he'll turn up again? And then you can keep an eye on him, to make sure bad things don't happen to him again. Win-win situation for everyone."

"I'd like that. Except also not. Maybe." Anya scowls. "Man, I hate having feelings for people. It's so confusing and upsetting."

Have a knowing smile from Willow. "I know exactly what you mean. At least if he's here, you can enjoy each other... while running from whatever evil forces are here."

She's so helpful.

Anya nods and smiles. "Yes, I would like to enjoy him. Carnally, if possible."

"Right. Still trying not to imagine my best friend doing any of that, he'd probably want to see you, too. So, uh... go make with the getting of clothes from Cordelia."

The expression on her face right now is probably priceless. At least she's mostly used to Anya by now?

Anya doesn't seem to notice the weirdness of the expression. She just nods.

"All right. Are you living in Buffy's castle?"

"Yep. And working at Tamper and Trick."

Anya nods knowingly. "I have no idea what that means."

"Oh, it's, uh, the magic shop Tara runs." Kinda like the Magic Box, but this Anya wouldn't know what that means. Sigh. "You should drop by sometime."

Anya nods. "Perhaps I will. We need to get jobs here too? I've never had to earn money before."

"I think it works better that way." Willow hesitates. Well, that can't hurt, right? "You do it in the future. You seemed to like it pretty well."
