012 [ accidental video | location: hyperion hotel ] a kick in the teeth is good for some
Spike is sitting on the floor in the Hyperion lobby hunched over and concentrating hard. He's holding a deck of cards, and several other piles are in front of him on a foot stool in the solitaire set-up. He moves an ace up and stares at the cards for a little while before flipping three down. Then he moves the cards around again. This continues for a while until finally, he shifts into his vampire face. His forehead wrinkles up and his eyes turn yellow, teeth lengthening.
He growls and knocks over the table, sending cards flying. He smiles for a minute. It's vaguely satisfying, but it doesn't really help anything.
Spike sighs and lets his features go back to being human, then turns to the tablet. He notices it's already recording, but at this point it's really too late to do anything about it. He picks it up and speaks into it.
"Anyone want to fight? I'm this close to seeing if I can hatch a demon to kill, I am so bloody bored."

"Whoa."

"Yes, I'm a vampire. A real one. But I don't eat humans seeing as how I've got a soul and it's really not worth the mind-numbing guilt. Name's Spike. Did I miss anything? And who're you?"

The soul thing, now that was a little odd. Other vampires didn't have them? He could turn his emotions off if he wanted to, but just because he was capable of acting soulless didn't mean he was in the literal sense. 'Soulless creatures' was another one of those vampire myths that didn't line up with reality where he was from, like crosses and no reflections.
"I think that's it. Maybe? I wouldn't really know. I'm Stefan."

"Anyway, I generally keep my fangs in cause they're not all that attractive. They only come out when I'm..." he gestures at the wreckage. "Killing playing cards, apparently."

Stefan understood perfectly, though. His own version of a 'vampire face' would come out to play whenever he got angry or generally emotionally intense, when he was feeding or when there was the scent of blood on the air. It was instinctive and sometimes took a moment to shut back off when something turned it on.

"Are all vampires like that?"

That...was a little unsettling. The oldest vampires he knew were Katherine, Pearl and Anna, and neither of them were stuck in a permanent state of veins and bloodshot eyes. ...or had been, in the case of the had-been-staked Pearl and Anna. Lexi, too. There was a slight pang of remorse at the thought, followed soon by the ever so familiar flash of hatred for his brother.
But, let's get back on topic, here. "So they get stuck in that face thing or as bats?"

Perhaps it would've been better for him to reference a show that hadn't appeared on Fox News starting in 2009, but Stefan's unaware of the time difference present here in addition to the vampire one.
"I think the obvious ruling is that my world doesn't have them. Or if they do, someone's doing some good clean up." ...like late nights spent burying the bodies of his brother's victims. Fun times.

Spike shrugs. "You'd know better than I would."

"I can imagine. Must suck."

Like Damon doing that when they were kids. Upside to a point, with Stefan scowling at him for claiming it was better to take the blame, because their father would never believe he didn't do it, anyway.

Nice enough that he knows Angel and Cordelia don't want to leave. And if Buffy were dead instead of just on the other side of the world, Spike might feel the same.

"Being abducted by aliens aside, yeah. Guess that would be."
