5% [location: Shelley; Spencer's... beautiful two story home??]
After spending a week in a female body, Spencer had been thrilled to finally wake up as himself again. He was all out of sorts yesterday. He tried to read and work on running his stats of arrivals and departures, but he couldn't concentrate. Around 9 o'clock, he fell into bed.
This morning, he woke to the sensation that there was somebody in bed with him. He nearly fell out of the bed when he realized that it was Beckett. Quietly, so as not to wake her, he had slipped from his room into... a house? His apartment had turned quite suddenly into something that it was not last night. His furniture was now art deco and he had a television - one that he suspected only showed programs in black and white.
Spencer had made his way to the kitchen and brewed a cup of coffee in an ancient looking pot (which somehow worked like it was brand new). Now he stood staring out the large window in the kitchen, clutching his mug of coffee and contemplating the beautiful manicured green lawn in front of him, which stretched to a white picket fence.
He pushed his glasses up his nose and wrapped his robe further around him. Spencer had no idea what to make or this, or what to make of waking up to find Beckett sleeping beside him.
[OOC - This is for Spencer, Kate, River, Ax and Kara to have their family shenanigans. Although, any friendly neighbors who want to stop by are also welcome.]

"I-I never felt that way..."
His head was spinning as he tried to process what he was feeling. In his mind, he tried to apply logic to this situation and found himself with more questions than answers in the process.

She looked at him over her shoulder as she stood at the sink.
"Want to dry while I wash?"
no subject
He grabbed a towel hanging from the stove and dried each dish as she handed it to him. Spencer felt awkward standing next to her like this. All of these feelings were giving him a headache.
"You know... the boss told me that he won't be needing me until later this afternoon... and I have a bit of a headache, so I might lie back down for a while..."
no subject
"I knew you weren't feeling well."
She took the dish from him and turned him toward the stairs.
"Go on up. I'll bring you an aspirin and some water."
no subject
"Actually, you know, my headache is subsiding... I think I'm going to read in bed for a while..."
He headed up the stairs, hoping that she wouldn't follow him.

She didn't want to believe it, but he was behaving so strangely. She had to at least rule it out as a possibility. She gave him time to get settled upstairs, then got a glass of water and the bottle of aspirin and walked up to the bedroom. Spencer was sitting up on his side of the bed, immersed in a Time magazine.
"Feeling better?"
no subject
"Oh.. yes, a bit. I think I'll take that aspirin anyway."
He washed the pill down with the glass of water, then smiled at her.
"Thank you, dear."
Spencer went back to his magazine, hoping that she would be satisfied that he was well now.
no subject
"What are you reading?"
no subject
"It's about two British scientists, Watson and Crick, who are proposing that human DNA takes the form of a double helix..."
It was quite fascinating, reading such an early account of DNA, back when they had no idea just how useful it would be.
no subject
"Interesting. You know, the kids won't be up for a while yet...and we're both up early..."
no subject
"W-What are you suggesting?"
He knew exactly what she was suggesting and had no idea how he was going to get out of it.
no subject
"We have some time...and it's been over a week since..."
no subject
"You know... m-my head is hurting again..."
He rubbed his temples.
"I don't think this is a good time..."
no subject
"You said you were feeling better."
She let her robe slide off her shoulder.
no subject
"I was but.. I think I should just rest.. and read..."
He swallowed hard.
no subject
"Spencer, are you...you're not..."
She searched his eyes.
"You still find me...desirable?"
no subject
"Of course I do Bec--Kate. You're beautiful..."
no subject
"I can't believe I'm asking this, but...is there someone else, Spencer? Is that why you're acting so strange?"
no subject
He sighed. He had no idea what excuse to give her next.
"I love you.."
Spencer said it so casually that he surprised himself.
"I just haven't been feeling very well lately.... I promise it's the truth, Kate."
He paused. He had to give her something or she would get more upset.
"W-Would you like to cuddle?"
no subject
"I'm being silly, aren't I?"
She leaned in and kissed him softly, then curled up next to him and put her head on his chest.
"Let's cuddle."
no subject
"I could never step out on you, Kate... you know that..."
Spencer settled down with her, gently stroking her hair. He closed his eyes, hoping she wouldn't notice how fast his heart was pounding. It was too much, having her close like this. He didn't want to think about what he might be feeling - and he certainly didn't want to feel it.
no subject
"Spencer, your heart is racing! Please tell me what's wrong!"
no subject
He was at a loss. Spencer hated lying to her, but he felt he had no choice. Still, it was better than the truth - not that she would believe the truth anyway. His last option was to have sex with her and that was certainly not happening.
"It's my job. I've been so stressed lately. That's why the boss let me have the morning off, so that I could maybe relax a bit. You know 35% of agents are actually retired by my age."
no subject
"Your job is stressful. Maybe you should take the whole day off."
She pressed closer to him and put her arm around his waist.
"Let me pamper you all day."
no subject
He hated to admit how delightful that sounded.
