...okay, what in the Nome King's kitchen was all of that about?

[ Good morning, Taxon, and welcome back to (relative) normal. Glitch sounds more annoyed than freaked out, but there is a level of freakage there nonetheless. ]

ooc: Yep, the month-ish of various horrors is behind us. Open for domestic shenanigans with DG and Cain, and voice/visual/what-have-you tiems with everyone else :D

Mid-century kitsch.

[Beat.]

You looked like Floop. [This is said with no small amount of childish disgust.]

There were unfortunate choices.

[Stylistically speaking. It's what lead to the Flooping.]

I cut your class.

[It's safe to say that now, because now there is no trouble. Awesome.]

[Does River need to give him a lecture about carcinogens? Because she probably could. Or at least give him a list of horrible facts.]

It was historically significant.

Are you?

[She isn't really okay, but she's not going to readily volunteer that information.]

...I'm not really sure who the Nome King is, but that would be Hollywood's idea of what the fifties were like in America.

Not really. There's a habit in the movies of getting rid of the gross parts of history so they can-- sorry. That was probably more than you wanted to know.

Beats me.

...

...

Is this the sort of thing I can expect from this place?

[He manages not to heave a great big sigh, but it's a close call.]

Central. Trying not to feel a stranger in my new home.

[Yes he found himself a place to live. It is not a shabby ruin of a cottage, nor is it a fifties' styled house with an explosive basement.]

I feel like a squatter.

[For a moment, it almost feels like he needs the familiarity of it, despite how alien he felt when he last spent time at the Northern Island]

How about I come over for coffee every now and then?

[Oh look! A compromise!]

[He might've known. He should have known, with Glitch it's never about anything other than now. The future's out there and it'll get here soon enough, and the past is in the past, and he's forgotten so much of it... What else is left but the here and now when you're likely to forget you ever made plans for next week?]

...fine.

I don't know.

It was ... kind of fun.

[As long as she ignored the part about working in the Hilltop cafe, anyway.]

You're more fun when you're you.

On the tram. I'm heading back to the Northern Island.

A few minutes later, DG - who had seized the first opportunity to swap the skirts and blouses of the glitch for jeans and a t shirt - stepped into the Northern Island.

There really was no place like home.

The glitch - she still maintained that they needed a more appropriate name for them - had been relatively harmless by Taxon's standards, but there was a lot to be said for having your memories intact.

"Glitch?"

Without a doubt. As soon as she spotted Glitch, DG ran forward and threw her arms around his neck. For the first time in a long time, they were themselves again. They were going to be able to spend time together as themselves.

She'd missed that familiar smile. She didn't want to let go.
