015: The Best Way to Spread Christmas Cheer [Location: the Northern Island]
The ordinarily silent entrance hall was alive with light and noise. DG had taken advantage of the hamster's latest offer to hatch every decoration she could think of and, with a spring in her step and tinsel in her hair, she meandered through the piles of boxes and tried to work out where to start. Occasionally, she sang along to snatches of the Christmas songs that floated through the room from the CD player she'd set up in the corner. Although reinforcements would be arriving soon, she'd hatched so many things that they wouldn't be finished before Christmas if they didn't start soon.
She hadn't intended to get carried away. It had happened by accident. The city had been so maudlin lately. A lot of friends had disappeared in a relatively short space of time, and, consequently, DG was more determined than ever to make the most of the time she had with the people who were left.
"You better watch out, you better not cry," she sang, picking up a wreath for the front door, "Better not pout, I'm telling you why. Santa Claus is coming to town ..."
She didn't even know the name of the winter holiday they celebrated in the world of her birth, but she'd intended to enjoy every moment of Christmas in Taxon. In this city, there was no way of knowing what was going to happen next.
OOC: Although this is for Glitch, Tara and Willow, bonus trolling is encouraged. If you can think of an excuse for your character to be in the Northern Island, go for it! (And, yes, I have been watching Elf recently. How did you guess?)

"And...damn hamsters couldn't leave well enough alone." By now the knot was swiftly unraveling in his hands. "L-like they amplified the effect or something, so-- it was like a bad half-plat romance, one second we're kissing, the next we're declaring our undying love for each other, then a few minutes later whoosh! Back to normal."
Well, insofar as "normal" for them now meant exceedingly awkward.

Decorations forgotten, DG stepped over to Glitch and took the untangled string of lights off him. Instead, she placed her hands over his.
"It wasn't your fault, Glitch," she said, and, although her voice was soft, it left no room for argument.

"I know," he said. "But...I still feel bad though. He-- the last person he kissed was his wife, and now there was this silly, pointless thing..."
Not that it had been silly or pointless at the time, quite the opposite, but that just added insult to injury. Having their emotions toyed with for hamsterly amusement just wasn't fair.

"I'll talk to him," she said, though she had no idea what it would achieve. She knew that she had to, that was all.

"Okay," he said, nodded, and pulled her into a gentle hug (very mindful of the tinsel now). "Thank you for..." Not being angry. "-doing that, I I think he was worried about us. A bit."
In a way.

With some reluctance and a sly smile he drew away again. "All right, no getting sidetracked yet, there's work to do and and company coming over, right? Tara and...Tara and...um."

"Willow," he repeated, hoping to cement the name in his memory. "Willow the witch, and she's Tara girlfriend. Good! I'm glad they're here for each other. And, you know, here to help us with all this stuff."
He cast another look over the accumulated decorations, quietly wondering if there were any left in the hatches.

"Do you think we've got enough?"
While they were in piles on the floor, it looked as if they had plenty of decorations. It might be different when they were finally up.

With a grin he retrieved a loose sprig and nestled it into his hair. "There, now I'm feeling festive."

The only decoration that she wouldn't hatch - and wouldn't put up anywhere in the Northern Island - would be mistletoe.
