The sound of a shower going and a slightly foggy video is all that can be made out at first, when the tablet spontaneously turns itself on. When the shower turns off, a blurred male figure walks out of the bathroom, allowing the steamy air out and the tablet to defog. After a minute, Eric walks back in with a white towel around his waist while finishing drying his hair with another, smaller towel. He's completely oblivious to the broadcasting tablet as he stands at the sink preparing to brush his teeth. He may be a vampire, but even they have hygiene habits. And having clean teeth and breath that doesn't smell like old blood is part of his daily routine.

It takes a minute or two to thoroughly brush, making sure he gets his fangs clean too. Sure he could easily use his vampire speed to do it in under 20 seconds with the same results, but today he doesn't mind going slow. Once that's done he takes his comb and slicks his hair back, getting rid of the few tangles that had formed from towel drying. It's as he's doing this that he pauses and it's clear he's focusing on something. With narrowed eyes, he leans forward a little and combs his fingers through his hair, lifting it up so he can see what he's looking at better.

"Oh great," he says, obviously annoyed, "just what I need."

There's about half an inch of new hair growth that's a shade darker than the blond hair he sporting now. He blames it all on Pam. She was the one who wanted to dye it a lighter blond to begin with and now he has to maintain it. And since she's not here, who can he get to dye it again? She's the only one he trusts with his hair.

"What?" He's taken out of his woe is me and my hair moment at the sound of her voice. Shit. He really wishes the tablet would stop doing that. It's like it purposely chooses to turn itself on when he's either naked or doing something like this.

"I'm not shaving my hair, Sookie."

[ she's still refusing to tell you why she's so pissed, eric, but that doesn't mean she can't take it out on you anyway. ]

"If I really wanted someone to butcher my hair, yes, that would be an option." He gives the tablet a look that says he thinks Sookie is dumb for asking such a question.

"Pam usually does my hair for me. She insists on it."

"I'd like to see you try to deny Pam something when she clearly has certain plans. She can be very stubborn." He should know, having spent over a hundred years with her. The hair argument is one they've been having for decades.

Well, she is at that.

"You could grow it out again." Godric is well aware that without Pam, Eric's hair is in dire straights. But once upon a time it grew wild and was never dyed.

"I could, but surprisingly enough this style has grown on me." Though, without Pam, he is at a bit of a loss as to what to do with it at the moment. It was his own fault they went this short to begin with, but the dye job was all on his child.

The shower catches her attention more than anything, and Kaylee plays polite for the first portion of the broadcast and doesn't peak (just in case, you know, it's someone who would freak out if there was peaking). As soon as the mechanic realizes that it's Eric wandering around in a towel, however, she's all smiles at the tablet.

"Would it be so bad, lettin' it grow out to normal?"

He looks down at the tablet, not in the least surprised to find it broadcasting. Honestly, nothing that thing does really surprises him by now. "Not at all," he says with a smile. "Though, I'd never hear the end of it from Pam if I didn't at least attempt to maintain this look after she cut and dyed it for me."

As long as Eric isn't worried about it, Kaylee sure as hell isn't going to be. Not while she's got some nice scenery to look at...

"And there's the kicker. Could always just remind her that it was either that or lettin' one of the Extras do it."

He chuckles. He'll be the first to admit that his child could be kind of scary when she's annoyed, but it's one of the things he loves best about her. "I doubt she would take that as an excuse, but I'll be sure to tell her that should she turn up here."

He turns back to the mirror to scrutinize his hair one last time before putting it out of his mind for now. "So, Kaylee, how have you been?" He's not a fan of small talk, but he is interested.

"Least she'll know you considered it, yeah? And you already take better care of it than half the folks here, so she can't say you ain't been tryin'." She's included in that not-so-fussy half, but that's partly because the only person besides her ma who's ever touched her hair is Inara, and neither of them are exactly present.

She's pulled back from her sad little realization by Eric's question. "It's been alright," she replies honestly. "Quiet, without the Cap'n and Tony about..."

Eric never met either of those men, but he can certainly sympathize with Kaylee. He has no doubt his life in Taxon would be a lot less quiet if Pam were there to give him a verbal slapping every now and then.

"Well, if the quiet ever gets to be too much for you, I'd be happy to remedy that." He flashes her a charming smile. She's good company and welcome to visit the nest. No doubt Godric would agree with that, especially if River came along too.

It's probably for the better that he didn't. Kaylee doesn't want to think about how Mal might have reacted to her bringing home a vampire friend for a special tour of Serenity.

The mechanic laughs softly, and returns his smile with a small one of her own. "Might just have to take you up on that, one'a these days. 'Specially if the snow keeps goin' the way it is. Gonna start havin' to dig ourselves outta here if it keeps up like this, and I bet you can imagine what River's like with a shovel..."

"When the snow gets like this it's better to stay indoors. Preferably by the fire." He's spent many times in the past doing exactly that when the weather was bad enough and the technology wasn't up to 21st century standards. Thank god the cold doesn't affect him anymore.

"Mmm, all nice 'n cozy..." Give her a fire to curl up next to with a hot cup of tea and some parts to work on and Kaylee's fairly sure she'd be content for hours. "'M definitely sold on the idea of that."
