Case #1 [holo | location: the sanctuary]
Kate had been circling the crime scene, taking in every nuance to aid in her investigation. She had knelt down to inspect a footprint in the dirt, when the dirt suddenly disappeared and was replaced by a cool silver floor.
"What the hell?"
She stood up, looking around. Everything had changed. The crime scene was gone, replaced by a circular room. She spun around, confused. Where was the door? Jumping down from the platform, she sprinted to the wall, stretching her hands out to feel for a door.
"Hello? Hey, anybody here?"
She pounded on the wall, though stinging hands were her only reward. As she inspected her hands, she noticed the silver bracelet on her wrist, and immediately tried to pull it off. Heart beating rapidly, she realized it wouldn't budge.
She circled the room, panicking slightly. On her second pass around the small room, she noticed the small table. On it laid what appeared to be a remote control, but upon closer inspection it looked to be some kind of cell phone. Maybe she could call for help?
She picked it up, but there did not appear to be any way to dial. She touched various places on the screen, but nothing seemed to happen. Then she heard a sliding sound, and looked up to see a door open a few feet from her. She immediately set the device down, heading for the door. It slid shut again before she could make it.
"Dammit!"
She kicked the door for good measure, then walked back over and picked up the remote/phone/whatever it was.
The door opened. Kate looked from the door, to the device, then back to the door. She set the device down again.
The door closed. Kate picked the device up again, then grinned as the door opened.
"Ok, ok. I get it."

The voice was quickly outvoted by another voice that pointed out that the alternative to staying with Reid would be staying alone. She smiled at Reid, relieved.
"Thanks, Reid. Really."

Spencer didn't much like the idea of having a roommate. He greatly enjoyed his peace and quiet. Still he felt that he should do this favor for her. She would be out in a week or so.
He led her up the stairs to his second floor apartment and took out what looked like an ancient key, which he placed in the ancient lock on the door. Spencer ushered her inside after opening it.
"The spare room is in the back, on the left past the bathroom. Sheets and such should be in the linen closet."
Re: [location: Shelley]
"I don't have any clothes."
[location: Shelley]
"Um. Well. You can borrow some of mine.... just so you don't have to wear the same thing over and over..."
He sat down in his antique chair at his desk in the living room and began to look through his papers.
Re: [location: Shelley]
"How did you get clothes?"
[location: Shelley]
Spencer was a bit distracted by his work in front of him.
Re: [location: Shelley]
Opening the door, she gasped.
"My clothes!"
[location: Shelley]
"There was nothing in that closet the last time I looked."
An uneasy feeling had settled in the pit of her stomach. Clothing had only appeared to him after he had chosen this apartment as his permanent residence. Did the appearance of clothes mean that Kate would be staying here longer than he thought?
[location: Shelley]
"Why here, though?"
[location: Shelley]
But he had a suspicion. She had unconsciously chosen this place and the aliens had listened. Spencer shuffled back into the living room wondering why he had somehow acquired this woman. This is what he got for being helpful, apparently.
[location: Shelley]
"Listen, Reid. There's probably another empty apartment in this building, yeah? I can just move my clothes into it and get out of your hair."
It wasn't what she wanted to do, but she felt she'd overstayed her welcome.
[location: Shelley]
"I don't mind having you here for up to a week, Ms. Beckett."
But he knew it would be longer than that. Her clothes were here. This was where she wanted to be, though Spencer had no idea why.
[location: Shelley]
She tried to smile, but she knew it looked forced.
"I really don't have to stay, I can tell you aren't thrilled about it, so I can just go..."
She turned to go back to her room to gather her things.
[location: Shelley]
"Are you no longer frightened?" he asked to her retreating form.
He already knew the answer.
Re: [location: Shelley]
"I'll find a way to deal with it."
[location: Shelley]
"If you're frightened, you're welcome to stay. If you feel more comfortable, you may go."
Spencer decided to focus on what he was doing and put Beckett out of his mind. Whatever she chose was of no consequence to him anyway. He could put up with her for a week.
[location: Shelley]
She walked into the spare bedroom and closed the door. She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms and leaning back against the door.
The 'aliens' had put her clothes here. They could just move them to another location.
"I need my clothes to go to another apartment."
She walked over to the closet and looked inside. Her clothes still hung, much neater than she usually had them. She tried again.
"I need a suitcase."
She looked around the room. Nothing.
[location: Shelley]
"It's not magic, you know. It just doesn't work like that."
[location: Shelley]
"I don't know why it shouldn't work like that. That's how the clothes got here in the first place. I don't see why they can't move in the same manner."
[location: Shelley]
"When I first arrived here, I spent my first week in a hotel. I had no clothes except for the ones that I came here with and some that the manager let me borrow."
He was also despondent, but he decided to leave that bit out.
"When I found this place and decided to make it my home, I checked my closet and my clothing was there."
Spencer hoped that she would draw her own conclusion from that.
Re: [location: Shelley]
Slowly, it dawned on her. She brought her hand up to cover her mouth.
"No...Reid, I didn't intend to..."
[location: Shelley]
There was a long pause of silence.
"I told you that you're welcome to stay."
Clearly this was where she wanted to be, though it didn't have to be permanent. He didn't expect it to be.
Re: [location: Shelley]
"Thanks, again. Not just for this, but...all of it. Answering my questions, letting me stay, everything."
She flushed slightly and looked down. She was a bit embarrassed that her subconscious had decided to stay with Reid. She hoped he didn't read too much into that.
[location: Shelley]
"You're welcome."
Spencer had no idea why this had been such a big deal. Her body language had given her away as soon as she stepped into the apartment. This was more relaxed then he had seen her yet. Spencer could deal with a roommate for a little while if it meant that she wouldn't be scared.
"Anyway.. I'm going to go back to my work if that's alright. You're welcome to the bookshelves in the living room."
[location: Shelley]
"I actually think I'm going to turn in. It's been a long day. I'll probably take you up on that tomorrow, though."
