Case #3 [Visual | Location: Shelley]

Kate had been pacing in her room since she recovered from the glitch, trying to determine how to best address the situation. She was pretty mortified by her actions, especially with her "family." She wasn't sure how to act around Reid at all, not to mention the way she'd completely mothered River and Ax. Finally, Kate turned on the tablet, then cleared her throat and took a deep breath before she spoke.

"So, uh...I realize now that I was glitched. Needless to say, I had no idea what was going on, though it seems like I was only one of a few who didn't...you know what, that doesn't even matter.

I just...I want to say thank you to everyone who knew about the glitch and showed me kindness. Especially Spe-Reid, River, and Ax. I...just thank you."

Kate buried her face in her hands.

"I kind of wish I didn't remember everything that happened."

Spencer smiled, thinking of her.

"She's a co-worker of mine. A friend."

JJ was wonderful. She always thought of him, making sure he was ok during and after cases. He missed her quite a bit.

Kate grinned, resolutely ignoring the tiny niggling hint of jealousy.

"A friend, huh? Just a friend? Sounds like more."

Spencer blushed and smiled wistfully. That ship had sailed.

"No, she's... just a friend. She's married and has a baby. I'm his godfather."

"Oh."

Yeah, Spencer was definitely into this JJ person, whether he'd admit it or not.

"So, you have a girlfriend back home?"

"Oh! Uh.. no.. definitely not..."

Spencer hadn't had what could be termed as anything close to a girlfriend since college.

"Do you have a boyfriend, then?"

Kate's mind immediately sprang to Castle, and she smiled a bit, but shook her head.

"No, I don't."

Spencer nodded, but noted the expression on her face. She had somebody in mind. He didn't press the issue. After all, what did he care? What did it matter if Beckett was in love with somebody back home?

They lapsed into silence as he gazed back at the floor.
