The tablet switches on to reveal Amy waving her hands in the air and shaking her booty as a generic pop song plays in the background. Once she discovered that Taxon was now broadcasting radio stations she was all geared up to have the stereo on in the background all the time.

But of course, one couldn't expect the aliens to know what people wanted to hear, so everything had been instrumentals from movies, with the occasional song with lyrics. Amy was tuning in sporadically as a result. There was only so many times she could listen to those overdramatic ballads from movies where someone's lover dies.

She's lucked out today though. Right now the aliens were playing a soundtrack that feels vaguely familiar to her, like from a movie she loved as a kid, and even though that movie was filled with pop songs and was cheesy with a capital C, it's making her feel nostalgic. Hence the dancing and singing like a mad woman.

Her mane of ginger hair is whipping around her head, and the knick knacks on the shelves are shaking as she really gets into it. The song comes to an end and she stops suddenly, out of breath and trying to tame her locks. It's only now that she notices the tablet has been recording, but instead of being embarrassed at being caught, she skips over and picks it up.

"These songs are taking me back!" The next song, from the same pop group as the previous, starts playing and Amy's head bobs from side to side. "I know the songs will go back to rubbish soon, so I have to enjoy this while I can. Does anyone know if this is all the aliens are going to play? Can't we, I don't know, call a request line or something?"

I thought so, but I didn't want to assume. Must be nice, living overseas. I've never left the country before. The United States, that is.

Not much different than America, I'd reckon. Besides, I moved to England when I was little, and the village I come from is bor-ring.

[ liz chuckles. ]

Can't be any more boring than Roswell.

Roswell? Wait, that's the place in the desert with those aliens... [She trailed off and laughed.] Well at least now you know that aliens are real, huh?

[ liz laughs too, despite the awkward on her end. oh, she knew that aliens were real before she was brought here. her ex-boyfriend was in the famed 1947 crash. these aliens are just a different brand of. what is her life. ]

I guess there's that. Wonder if it'll get me on the six o'clock news, should I ever go home.

Oo, maybe. It might even get you on Oprah. [She pauses.] Ehm, that joke only works if you're from a time that has Oprah. Are you?

Of course we have Oprah! Why wouldn't we?

[ she gets it, but playing normal is the default. ]

[Amy laughs.] In case you haven't noticed yet, we're not all kidnapped from the same time and place. There's a couple people here who usually live out in spaceships, and people from other worlds. But hey, it's nice to have another person from the time of The Oprah among our ranks.

[ liz can't help but laugh as well. ]

I noticed, I just... I try not to think about it too much? It kind of makes my head spin.

Ah, that I can understand. I've seen some things that have done my head in. But I suppose I adapt pretty quick. You will too, after awhile here, though I hope your stay isn't too long. Nice as it is to get to know people here, I don't think anyone wants to be here, so I wish for them to get back home like they want.

Do you want to go back home?

Yeah, course I do. Though... home is relative. I want to get back to my husband and my friend. We were traveling together.

You're married? Oh my god, I'm so sorry. That must be hard, being away from him.

[ liz feels a pang of something in regards to being away from max, but she swallows it. they were over, after all. she made that decision before school let out for the summer. ]

[She lets out a bitter little laugh.] Yeah, I'm undecided if it'd be better to have him here stuck with me or not. Though come to think of it, he'd probably settle in a sight easier than I did.

There's nothing wrong with wanting the ones you love by your side.

[ liz parker, you hypocrite. ]

Yeah, but it's not exactly like I'm on holiday, is it? It's more like, "Oh yeah, c'mon! Be a prisoner with me and have things trying to kill you all the time." [She thinks that over.] Well, we've dealt with things trying to kill us before, but we could at least escape in the end. Here there's no escape.
