[opposite event] This is a story all about how Taxon got flipped, turned upside down.

The idea, as it had been initially presented, was for citizens to experience what it was like to walk in someone else's shoes. In practice it became discovering what it was like to walk in their own shoes, if their taste in shoes were suddenly quite different from normal. The footwear still fit and was comfy, but the style was quite different.

For two weeks the prisoners of Taxon swapped their utilitarian Doc Martin's for trendy Louboutins (or vice versa) and all manner of shenanigans reigned.

[ OOC: Trying something new! this is basically a LOG POST where everyone can consolidate their opposite plot doings in one location for optimal organization. How it will work:
→ tag in with your character being affected by the opposite plot.
→ include the dates they will be affected!
→ others will tag you with reactions, and you can tag them!

You are of course free to make your own posts as well. Have fun! ]

"Just looking out for the people I care about."

The people of Taxon. The ones she was sent here to protect, to comfort, to shelter, to turn on their lights if their power went out. Maybe perform light shows, if the entertainment made people happy.

"But you don't care about anyone," Party points out with much tact and social grace. A wonderful experince he's sure to remember after all of this.

"That's pretty much what we bonded over when I picked you up. Remember?"

Her head tilts to the side.

"Then you don't know me at all," she answers, but for some reason she can't quite grasp, his statements shake her. She ignores it, not letting this one get the best of her. "I remember you whisking me away and trying to get me to join your band of killers," she continues, showing that you could never take too many liberties with interpretation.

The real Party Poison would probably be annoyed. Angered, even, at her statement. It bothers him, somehow, but for reasons he's mistaken for in this little glitch. Nope, he thinks he feels bad just because Gwen's accused him of being odd. Wrongly, too.

"I'm never a killer. Or, maybe I was a little violent, but it's only what I learned. How to survive.... Shit, we once kinda bonded over that. Why be--"

He trails off. "I mean, we don't know each other. That's why I want to get to know you more."

"Surviving is important," she says, steadily. "But not at the expense of others, of what's right."

That's what selflessness was all about, right? Putting yourself at risk for others, caring only about them.

But she looks at Party, carefully. She'd been on the wrong path, once. Maybe Party had, too. He was less boisterous, less hyper, less lingo-spouting, after all. "The only thing you need to know about me is right on my chest," she says, deadpan.

She means, of course, the letters E.G. planted on her outfit, but oblivious Electro Girl is oblivious.

Glitched or not, Party's a 20-something year old guy with a crush that can be seen from space, according to Kobra Kid.

"...I..."

He falters, and his face is red, and he looks at her chest before hazel eyes quickly look back up at her eyes. Or, not quite her eyes. More her chin, because he isn't sure that was a proper thing to do.

"...I don't know how to respond," He answers earnestly, staring.

She looks down at the letters, and looks up again. She holds her gloveless hands up, her face a wordless expression of 'Isn't it obvious?', and lowers them back down to her sides.

What is he, stupid?

"It's what I am. What I've always wanted to be, even if I didn't know it."

Well, now. That just confuses the poor Killjoy even more, and he finally looks up at Gwen with a tiny, unsure smile.

"A girl?" He asks, voice timid.

[identity profile] freaks-myword.livejournal.com 2011-10-22 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
There! He had half of it, at least.

"Yes!" She says, loud and suddenly and triumphantly. She is just a girl, one who was born to help people with her special powers. "A special girl."

What the hell?

Party's timid smile becomes more sheepish, and for a brief moment he takes on Kobra Kid's still-yet-awkward mannerisms, flashing a tentative grin before returning back to the sheepish curl of the lips.

"Well, you are," He agrees, and then tilts his head to the side. "And now you fight crime, is that what this is?"

[identity profile] freaks-myword.livejournal.com 2011-10-22 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Exactly," she says, satisfied, as if everything has come together into one neat little puzzle. "I use my powers for good."

"Well, I'm a good person, too," Party insists, trying to leave the confusion somewhere behind him. "Really! The whole blowing things up because I'm frustrated was all teenage angst. I'm too old to be doing that sort of stuff now."

And, a shy smile.

"But I'm happy you're looking out for me. Even if you think I'm doing illegal things."

"You do look a little...healthier," Gwen concedes, nodding at him. She changed, why shouldn't he? It doesn't mean she won't watch him.

"Someone in this place needs to watch out for that stuff," she says with a prideful shrug.

[identity profile] poisonousparty.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
That would have set Party off on another rant, but instead, he simply smiles at her words. "You've changed," He says, and there's a pleasant tone. That's a compliment, at least to this one.

"I just think it'd be easier if everyone was a little happier about all this," He confesses. "Focus on here instead of all that couldn't be. So you're doing a good job."

It's an interesting outlook, and one that Gwen never would have suspected coming from Party Poison's mouth, and she finds herself nodding in agreement.

Whereas the old Gwen would have given a skeptical look--all raised eyebrows and knowing smirk, and made some smartass remark--Electro Girl smiles proudly. "Thank you. You make sure to behave yourself, Party--Gerard."

"Gee's okay, too. I...Yeah." Gwen and Gee. Party's smile widens, but even with a tie on he knows when he's being an awkward womanly mess.

"Electro Girl, I mean. Mikey and I, we won't get in your hair. But if something big comes up, let me know. I know how to jimmy more than a few things. You're a better fighter than me, but.." He trails off, shrugging.

Gwen is skeptical, but she manages a small smile at Party's offering. It was nice to have someone as backup, if she ever needed it. After all, she couldn't do absolutely everything herself, could she?

Well, yeah, she totally good. Superpowers, remember? But it was an option she'd file away, nonetheless, for later. If it steered Party even further from his path of bombings and killjoying, then that was killing two birds with one stone.

"I'll remember that." What's that? A sincere smile? "Thanks."

[identity profile] poisonousparty.livejournal.com 2011-11-01 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
A sincere smile that makes Party Poison's heart flutter, even glitched, and he can't help the totally goofy, caught-off guard smile.

"I mean--bombs and..guns and..I'd only pick that sort of stuff up if you really needed it, Gwen." He pauses for a very long moment (or what it feels like to him) and looks at Gwen, ridiculous superhero outfit, ridiculous personality change, and can't help but beam.

"Got your back."
