The bar top was polished to a high shine, and Buffy carefully folded the damp towel she'd been using to wipe it down into a neat square.

Not nervous, nope.

Another spot gets a quick wipedown, and Buffy quickly puts the towel away before she manages to scrub a hole in the finish. She didn't really know when people tended to come in, but if she was by herself for awhile, there was always dusting, and mopping, and re-arranging, and and and...

OK, maybe a little nervous.

Jenna laughed at that, pouring out two glasses of water for them. "Relax. You should've seen me when I first started. It's a shame Fitz isn't here anymore. He'd have you relaxed in two seconds flat, too."

Not that Jenna didn't think she could do it, but Fitz had a gift for it. And she kinda still missed him.

"And it's not like being a barista in an alien-run city exactly requires a perfect resume."

Buffy smiles and raises her glass to Jenna.

"Here's to weird settings and alien kidnappings. May we all be returned to our own weirdness soon."

"Or that we get used to this weirdness. I'm starting to think I have."

And being returned to her wierdness to get stabbed and then return wasn't exactly on her list of things to repeat. Still, she raised her glass in return and gently tapped it against Buffy's before sipping.

"So, how are you adjusting?"

"Slowly but surely?" It seems to be the best answer, Buffy figures, considering the situation.

"I'm living with Willow up at the castle, and there are about a billion rooms there. I feel like we're bouncing around a little."

"That's usually how it works," Jenna answered with a smile. "You'll get more used to it the longer you're here."

Not that she particularly wanted anyone to be here for very long, but that was just how it usually ended up. An extended stay in an alien city. Literally.

"Oh, that giant castle? I'd get lost every day up there."

[buffy_slayer]

"Don't tell anyone, but I kinda did. Got a little turned around at least."

It was embarrassing, and she even had considered climbing out the window.

"Thank goodness I found my way out, otherwise I probably would have starved to death."

"Your secret is safe with me," she teased, with a grin. "And just between the two of us, I probably would never find my way around a place that big. I get turned around enough in museums."
