Just like last week, Ashley's tablet starts recording while she's in the throws of a nightmare. It's far closer to morning this time, and unlike the last, she's fallen asleep with the light on. Her thrashing can clearly be seen as the tablet is up on a ledge with a clear shot at her.

In her mind, Ashley can still feel the tank of water around her, the feel of the medication as it flowed through her veins, the last of her resistance being pushed out. Her mind is being forced back, her will bent into a corner of her brain, and from the looks of her thrashing, whatever nightmare she's having is far worse than the last.

The tablet records for a few minutes before Ashley suddenly sits bolt upright in bed, her eyes snapping open. Those who have actually seen her and pay attention to these sorts of things will notice that her eyes aren't blue this morning. They're red, a deep, blood red. Source Blood red. Ashley pulls herself together and leaps from the loft, landing catlike on the floor below. Eventually, the tablet feed will time out and that is all it catches of Ashley for the next week or so.

The blonde girl is on a mission and no one is safe.

[ ooc: ashley's cabal glitch is go now! she can be found anywhere in taxon, absolutely anywhere (all week, in fact), and anyone is free to tag in, even if we haven't planned anything out! i am willing to have her be seriously injured multiple times (in fact this will be necessary to helping / stopping her), so don't hold back! "Ahhhh!"

Madelyne lets out a shriek as the talons sink into her unexpectedly and seemingly from out of nowhere. Her shields absorb some of the impact but they're too little too late. There was a mind but it wasn't... well, it isn't normal, so she'd been treating it like an Extra.

Instinctively, she lashes out at her attacker. While the motion is a hand movement, what comes with it is a telekinetic strike with the impact of a city bus, "What the hell?"

It's enough to knock Ashley out of the air. She crashes to the ground, hissing like a snake. The strike hadn't exactly hurt her, but it had given her a jolt. Enough of one for her real self to start pounding on the mental walls separating her from whoever was controlling her.

Of course it didn't help shake her loose, but it would be enough to make her body pause for a moment or two before her head shot up and she stood again, looking dangerously for her adversary. Now, it was personal.

Damned right it is personal. Madelyne is now pissed off - that hurt!

"What the hell!"

She reaches out, mentally, trying to find the mind of her attacker as she looks down to inspect the damage those claws did to her midsection. There is blood but it doesn't look like major organ damage. Not that she can tell for sure and right this moment there are other pressing matters at hand.

Ashley's next move is a running teleport. Leaping off the ground, she aims a kick at the start of the teleport. When she comes out of it, the intent is to end up above Madelyn so she can knock her out of the air. If Madelyn can see it coming - there's a good second or two in between disappearance and reappearance and a bright flash of red light at either end as her body converts to pure energy and back - she can dodge it and throw off Ashley's whole plan.

As far as mental capacities go, all Madelyn will pick up is that there's a huge mental wall around Ashley's mind and her entire system is full of mind-altering medication. She's been drugged, and hard. And there's not a damn thing she can do to fight it.

Teleporting was not something Madelyne was expecting, so the kick does catch her off guard.

Not so off guard that she didn't have shields up around her. So the kick knocks her down and bounces her off a tree on the way but it doesn't seem to actually impact the redhead herself. "Damned teleporting pain in the ass."

Reaching out, she tries to grab onto the other woman telekinetically, in order to slam her into the ground. Of course, holding a teleporting for long is notoriously challenging.

Here tactics may change as the realization the other woman isn't in control of herself starts to settle in.

It's enough to do just what it was meant to, thrusting her facedown into the street below. Ow. Okay, that actually hurt, too, and it takes her a moment longer to get back up - assuming Madelyn isn't going to try to keep her down there.

Any scrapes she incurred from the pavement heal almost immediately and not even one drop of blood falls to the ground. It'll take a lot more than that to bring her down.

Right. So, not only does she teleport but she heals too. "That's just not fair." She's not seriously worried - yet. She might be if this ends up going on as a protracted running battle, though.

Madely continues to hover about 5 feet off of the ground. Reaching out, she brings her hands together, two waves of telekinetic force following the motion. If Ashley doesn't teleport out of the way, that should catch her in between the two - both a physical and a sonic attack. This might well start damaging the buildings around them.

If she gets a few moments, she'll try to untangle the other woman's mind but telepathy takes time which she hasn't had yet.

If Ashley were in her right mind at that moment, she might've suggested a trade of powers. She'd never asked for what she'd been given and certainly never wanted a repeat of why. Regardless, that was what was happening.

The attack catches her squarely between them and for a moment, she's stuck, reeling more from the sonic attack than the physical side. But it only lasts a minute and then she's teleporting out and a little farther away to observe and recover.

The Cabal had certainly never seen an attack like that before, and that would play to Madelyn's favor.

It takes a lot out of her in order to move anything at the speed of sound in order to create that small sonic boom. She's beginning to wonder if maybe those claws nicked her a little more deeply than her first impression. With the greater distance, she lifts herself back higher up into the air.

Reaching out, she tries to find the Ashley's mind again. Maybe she can help tear down the walls and counter the effects of the drugs.

Ashley takes a little longer to get herself back up and moving. She can't really feel the tickle that is Madelyn getting into her head. There's not much that can be done to help, though, and it'll take time, but there's humanity buried inside and it keeps surfacing every time she's seriously hurt. Even for a short period, it's something Ashley is grateful for.

Once she's back on her feet again, she looks to the skies and tries the teleportation kick again.

Madelyne reaches out and tries to rip down the mental walls that are holding the normal human part of Ashley in the background. As she's currently in the other woman's mind, the teleport kick isn't nearly as effective - there is still contact but Madelyne has enforced her shields in that direction.

"Oh, I don't think so."

Reaching out, she telekinetically grabs a hold of the other woman and slams her to the ground, looking to pin her there. "STAY DOWN!"

And stay down she does, Ashley crying out in pain as she's slammed onto the street. The mental blocks are pulled down just long enough for the real, sane Ashley to choke on her pain and confusion, but they don't stay down for long. It's a glitch and it won't keep Ashley there forever. Madelyn can get a good sense for the real Ashley and what this is doing to her before the walls are back up and the girl is attempting to teleport away for her escape. Self-preservation is first and foremost on her list. She doesn't have the luxury of other soldiers to help.

Madelyne is frustrated as she can't seem to hold on to the other woman's actual mind. The walls come back up and she loses her grip on her physically and mentally. It is probably a good thing, all told, she needs to send out a message to the others.

It would be very good for her to find a doctor or a healer - soon.
