052 [text | location: around the island] on the shore just long enough to leave our clothes there
Glitch is so very happy to be back on land where he's 100% less useless. Sure it's not the city (or home) but it's better than being on that miserable boat.
In the jungle (the mighty jungle) there is a large hamster idol carved from limestone. It sits up on its haunches and smiles a benevolent hamster smile, and atop its head is a floral headdress. More interestingly: its right paw is definitely a hatch touchpad, and it holds in its left paw the traditional hatch replicator box thing.
Glitch stares at it dubiously, then slaps his hand down and thinks desperately of toothpaste. The box produces a bottle of rum, which gets tucked into the satchel he's fashioned from the sleeves of his giant white pirate shirt. He tries again, this time thinking of ball-peen (...wait, who even came up with that name?) hammer and some nails. The hatch responds with directions for making a shelter with palm fronds and vines.
After some trial and error (and another bottle of rum and some paper umbrellas), the hatch does produce useful things like a length of insulated copper wire, a Hawaiian print shirt and some Bermuda shorts, a pair of pliers, and sunscreen.
"...well, it's a start," Glitch mutters, then hauls everything back to the shady spot he's claimed a little ways from the beach. There he lays the pliers and wire down beside the metal-containing ship debris that had washed up, and set about composing a text to everyone.
That done, he heads back into the jungle for his daily swim. The island is fortunately riddled with cenotes to provide drinking water and places to cool off without getting saltwater sticky. Glitch has found a favorite with a good mix of shade and sun, water crystal clear and deep enough for diving, and just secluded enough that he can get away with skinny dipping.
That last bit is likely inaccurate.
OOC: Oh hey it's another huge note! WELCOME TO THE ISLAND enjoy your naked headcase. He will be out there every day, so go bug him or join in and fret not about continuity. Or bump into him anywhere, godmoding of that nature is go. TABLET FOLKS: there is going to be so much handwaving with this plot I can't even tell you. To the point of "let's congratulate ourselves on how awesome our geniuses and electric lady are" and moving on with end results.
This post can also be used as a log post for non-Glitch related hijinks like setting up shelters, building rafts, and other mingling.
DETAILS ON THE TEMPLE: Think Temple of Doom meets Legends of the Hidden Temple meets The Mummy. There are 100% godmodey deathtraps, the nature and degree of dangerousness is totally up to you. There are also treasures...also godmodey, but a chest stuffed with toiletries is definitely in there somewhere.
DID GLITCH HEAR DRUMMING: Yes. Yes he did, and your folks may have too. ~Details to come~.

NOTES:
- Found a hatch, marked approx. location on map. Temperamental but will give useful stuff (!SUNSCREEN!) plus random items.
- The temple: have not explored, not sure if safe, be careful if you check it out. Do not go alone.
- Swear I heard drumming last night. Might be delusional.
TO DO:
- Work w/tablets. Have more tools & materials now. Power boost? Antenna? Help appreciated.
- Go back to ship for supplies: sailcloth, rope, anything useful. Build raft for this? Volunteers? (Not it!)
- Build hammock.

[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"That's kind of sexy, you know."
Settling back, he closed his eyes, exhausted and worn out, pondering options before the heat of the day got on them.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
There is a splash as she decides that the water is just cold enough. the sound she makes might be a little more suggestive than she was intending but, damn, it feels good to have a chance to even sort of get clean - the lack of soap being a slight impediment.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
That he might have been imagining what he was hearing, well, side effect of being drowsy.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
Mostly, the sounds are sounds of someone moving through the water. She isn't splashing around on purpose but it sounds like she's trying to wash up. Maybe ducking below the surface as well.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
Despite himself, Josef was finding himself having much too much fun in their banter.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
The water feels amazing and with the little bit of the alcohol in her system, she might just be projecting that general happy feeling of contentment. The cold water, not too cold but just cold enough, catches her breath from her just enough to add to that feeling.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
He sighed, feeling the heat starting to get to be too much for him.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
There is a pause from her and perhaps she's a little more tipsy than she thought as she's picking up his discomfort. "Are you okay over there?"
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"Yep. I'm good," he called. "Just... bright out here."
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"Not so bright over here."
: [In the jungle - Not too far in]
"Madelyne! I..." He blinked at her, tense and uncertain as he watched her. "That was different."
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"Sorry. You were too hot and it is cooler over here."
She's up to just below her shoulders in the water, looking at him, a concerned look on her face. She does her best to pull her thoughts back in, reminder herself that this is why she doesn't drink. Even a little bit.
Though letting go of the control for a bit is nice.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"No. Thank you for that. Just... different. Never been moved off my own power except when heaved off something or hit by something bigger," he said, nearly smiling though his eyes were just fluttering open.
Glancing at her, he did his best to arch a brow. "I'm not going to die on your watch. Promise." He laughed though, all things considering.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
She ducks down and leans back scratching at her scalp for a few moments. It isn't like washing her hair, not really, but it feels pretty good anyway.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"When you're done," he began as she ducked under. He slumped back, waiting for her to resurface.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
Especially not when she's just finished being upset with herself about taking liberties with other people. She starts to walk up out of the water, slowly.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"Just thinking I may need to do a bit of what Mick is. Much as I would rather not turn into a creature, I may need it later."
He turns his head, watching her with a hooded gaze.
"Remind me why I gave you my shorts?"
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
Madelyne looks down at him and takes a moment to wring out her hair before she levitates the shirt toward her to put on over the not much she's wearing, "Because otherwise I'll have enough of a headache to become delirious. No one needs a delirious telepath."
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"No wait, you don't need the shirt either," he said, being a lech because it was better than being heat sick and noticing how tantalizing the water smelt on her skin.
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"Are you going to be okay?
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"I'm pushing for okay, yeah," he admitted. "I should... Just... Yeah." He frowned slightly. "Right. Okay."
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
"Is there anything you need? Can I help?"
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
Josef laughed softly. 'You don't want to ask that."
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
Madelyne looks over at Josef and arches a brow, "Well, I already did."
[In the jungle - Not too far in]
He watched her a long time. "I don't ask beautiful women for a donation before even the first date," he joked.
