System Glitch: In The City: Ship Ahoy! [location: Osten]

The day of July fourth was spent dealing with annoying, static-ridden transmissions from the tablets. Hisses, bleeps, pops, and occasionally what might have been an indistinguishable voice saying something unintelligible. The interruptions ceased in the evening, and the city went back to being quiet and empty.

The fifth brought more of the same, but shortly after noon something curious happened: if one consulted the map, they'd note a dot out in the ocean. Zooming in on the dot showed that it was not one but many dots, each with a familiar name attached, and observation would show that the dots were headed toward a never-before-used ferry terminal on the Osten waterfront.

Go meet your people, Taxon, and send them to get showers post haste!

ooc: The ferry terminal is a proper building so our vampires aren't in danger of going foom.

Azkadellia caught that, the addendum that she had been on ground at some point, and she ached to ask questions but if she hadn't with Glitch, then she certainly wouldn't ask with Ashley.

"Oh. I... I apologize. I'm just... I feel guilty being glad everyone it back," she admitted. "I should want better for you all than being prisoners here but... I'm glad," she admitted, looking contrite for those emotions.

"Hey, don't feel bad." Ashley chewed at her bottom lip for few seconds as she considered how much she wanted to say. If Azkadellia hadn't guessed already as to her future, she was in for a world of hurt when she heard about it. And really, what did Ashley have to lose? She'd told Briar about what would happen to her if she ever left this place. What was one more person?

"For all we know, a bunch of others out there could be like me, stuck here with nothing to go home to. It's hard to want something other than a prisoner's life when the only other option is... death." She shrugged, as though it weren't a big deal that ate at her every day. "Who knew blowing myself up would actually kill me?"

Azkadellia winced at that, looking away for the briefest of moments before she nodded, looking at Ashley with understanding.

"Who knew blowing yourself up would bring you here," she said, wondering if somehow a glitch in her own world had saved her. "Least you're back here with land and your home and all."

"It's better than being torn apart." Literally. "And I had a couple of weeks with my mom, worked some things out before she got sent back home. It could be a lot worse for me."

Honestly, she was grateful in some ways. This was like a second life to her and she was determined to enjoy it as much as she could. Even if the aliens turned her into a killer again. At least she knew there were people who could take her down if she needed it.

Azkadellia thought back to the last time she'd seen her mother, the torture that Lavender Eyes had endured all because of the witch that had held Azkadellia hostage. "I think that would be something lovely to have," she admitted in a low voice. "And here, if you need anything, do ask. I'm glad to get a chance to talk to you like this, face to face and such.'

Ashley nodded, grateful for the support. "Thank you." It was strange, to be given such an offer from someone she'd tried to kill not that long ago. "And hey... sorry about the whole... thing... a while back."

Azkadellia shook her head. "You have nothing to apologize for. There was no control to be had there, nothing you could do. You were at their mercy," she pointed out.

It was still her fault it had happened in the first place, back home, but Ashley just pursed her lips and nodded. "Right. Guess that's true. And anyway, it's over. Everything's peachy now."

Azkadellia looked around at the reunions, thinking of the one she had yet to have. "Yes. Everything's peachy," she said before actually flinching. "I'm keeping you from showering and food and whatever else you need, aren't I?"

Ashley waved a hand dismissively. "After everything we just went through, I'd rather see a friendly face than shower and eat alone. You're a good distraction." She offered a smile in return, to emphasize that she really didn't mind at all.

Despite her more grave manner a moment before, Azkadellia couldn't help but smile. "I'm glad for that. Having just a glimpse of what everyone has been through while we remained here, mostly living our lives, I feel entirely as if I should find ways to be of use. Even if as a distraction."

Ashley offered a small smile at that as well. Azkadellia was doing a very good job and Ashley appreciated it. "You wanna go for coffee or something? I mean... if you have time and feel comfortable running around town with me." Ashley wouldn't blame her if she didn't.

"Coffee? I would love to." She thought about it for a second. Cain was with Paul. Glitch had slipped off, likely to look for DG and she wished him more luck than she'd had.

"Yes, I definitely have the time."

The smile on Ashley's face brightened a little more at that. She hadn't expected the acceptance and it was nice. "Great. There's probably a place in the central Sanctuary if we don't run across a cafe on our way."

She hesitantly started forward, making sure Azkadellia was actually going to come with her before she left.

Sweeping back the long skirt she wore, denim and ankle length, she turned to head for the Sanctuary. She didn't visit there often since the day since she'd arrived, but she was excited for the social interaction, something she didn't have before.

"Was it truly horrible," she suddenly asked, unable to stop herself.
