Jason nodded, the slight smile still on his face. He hadn't really expected she would take them.
"There is no great mystery to the cards, really. A half-decent student of human nature, armed with a few facts about his querent and a penchant for dramatic delivery, can give a reading such as would satisfy most people.
"The art of divination and the art of the con are close cousins at best. Incestuous at worst."
He slid the deck of cards back into their box, for now.
"I myself give dull readings, as I have no penchant for drama."
