Selina Kyle has a new hat.

She's sitting outside of a cafe sipping at a cup of coffee. Wrapped up inside a shawl, she's warding off the brisk chill of the day. It is trying to creep up into her bones, even with the sun shining down on her. Keeping her hands wrapped around the cup, she watches all of the people, or 'people', if you will, walking by.

This place is strange and she doesn't entirely know what she thinks of it.

Yeah that made him wonder how screwed up this guy was if he was the better balanced of the two. "You miiiiight..." He prompted, giving her an out, though he knew those words. He didn't say them daily about Pepper.

"Why do I feel I've been almost insulted?"

"You haven't been insulted, you just like being flashy. I'm more of a hang out in the shadows sort," she says with a smile. Yeah, he gives her an out but she's just going to push right on without going back. Having finished stripping this unit, she stands up, looking around.

"And somehow this car that is worth a mint stays in the shadows," he asked, curiosity etched on his features. Definitely was amusing to him, to say the least.

He moved over, already starting to open another, wishing there was a better way to do this. "Figure one more before we might get looked at here." He wasn't risking putting her through that.

"It's black, for one thing," she says with a small smile. Standing up, she follows him over to the next AC unit.

"Sure."

"So no imagination in this guy, is there," he asked, dropping down to one knee and working to open the unit. "Must make for boring... nights."

Selina makes her way over and chuckles, "Never so that I've noticed the lack. He's extremely focused on whatever he's ... doing." Kneeling, she helps start to dismantle the outsides and then the inside.

"Oh that's so sad. He has you snowed," he said, actually tsking as if he had any clue what was going between her and this guy. "So were you in love with him? Was that it?"

"If anyone has anyone snowed, I've snowed him. There is no way a man like him and a woman like me...." she stops talking before she, again says more than she's intending to say.

"I don't know. Sometimes I think so."

Those last words are very quiet indeed.

"You mean like a woman like Pepper and a man like me," he asked, believing that. They were not meant to be together. He knew that much.

"And now? With distance? Do you not believe you do?"

"Not that I know much about your Pepper but I really don't think we're comparable," she says with a small smile. "She sounds like an entirely respectable woman."

"Oh, I didn't know before I came here. Distance makes it a little clearer but I'm still not sure." I don't know what love is supposed to be, I can't claim to know if I'm in it.

"She is." He wouldn't argue that. "Much more than I ever will be. I was meaning more that if she and I can overcome those things, why would I note believe you and this shadowy man with the car couldn't," he asked.

He wasn't much of a romantic but he did believe that. Now he did.

"So... Get back and make your move." He hadn't been there long enough not to believe eventually they could get home.

"I don't know, even, if I want to make a move, Tony," Selina says with a small smile. "And it would be like you getting serious with a streetwalker turned thief."

He shrugged. "And? See, that wouldn't bother me. I got involved with my former secretary though, didn't I? So I don't see the problem. Why wouldn't you want to?"

"There are like three or four more social rungs between a secretary and me, Tony. And with a secretary it is scandalous. With me... it is... It is possibly disastrous," she says with a small shrug.

"He's possessive and I don't like being a possession."
