[location: John Everton's House] [OPEN TO ALL!] BLOCK PARTY!!!

The time had come. Charlotte left John in charge of setting up the bar, giving him only the one request that he have a decent selection of beer, and did the work of dialing up the food. She knew she was going way over board. For all she knew no one might show up, even though she'd gotten a bit of a response to her invite. How could people resist, though. Food, drink, Dean's music, kittens? Okay, and an ex-vampire, but that wasn't his fault.

Pushing that thought away, she continued laying out the food and the carefully crafted warding spells that would protect it from the kittens. They had been given run of most of the patio, but not the yard, and not the food area. That meant they'd still be popping in and out of people's laps, but at least they wouldn't do it to plates.

When everything was ready, Charlotte ran up to change into skinny jeans, a crisp white button down and a ridiculously shiny pair of cowboy boots. Not unlike Dawn, not that she knew it, Charlotte was having too much fun with the fashion options the replicators afforded. Properly armored for the event, she headed back to the patio to wait for their first guests.

OOC: This is an open event, folks, anyone should feel free to tag in, even if they just discover the party. Start a new thread with a label if you want or just tag in on another thread. Feel free to hop around, too. IT'S A PARTY, PEOPLE! Also, this will go on as long as people are interested, so backtag all ya like. We know people will be in and out all weekend. Have fun, drink all the booze.

Look. Up ahead.

It's a Kaylee, completely with beer bottle accessory.

Her expression's just barely noticeable, but Dean notices and gives her something of a soothing smile, trying to get her to relax. "Hey, I'm no social butterfly. I'm just as weird as you are, sweetheart."

It's around this point he notices Kaylee up ahead, and he grins widely. "Look, here. Lemme introduce you to Kaylee. She won't bite, promise."

And he'll be dragging Cassie up to Kaylee, grinning at the both of them. "Hey, Kaylee. This is Cassie. She's a friend of mine."

"But you can fake it," Cassie replies out of the corner of her mouth. "Really, really well."

He steered her towards the pretty brunette and Cassie's heart leapt into her throat. She wasn't Georgia, but she had that pretty innocence. Cassie took another sip of her orange soda. "Alright."

When he introduces the two of them, Cassie gives a polite smile and a nod. "Nice to meet you."

Innocence? Oh Cassie, if only you knew.

"Nice to meet ya too Cassie," Kaylee says back, big smile on her face.

[ooc; ... er ... keep prodding. mun fail here .__.]

Dean snorts, but doesn't reply to Cassie, as they're now right next to Kaylee. Also, he would be laughing if he knew what Cassie thought about Kaylee. Innocent is definitely not something Dean would use to describe Kaylee.

But then again, Dean isn't exactly innocent when it comes to Kaylee, so. Maybe it's a matter of perspective.

"You havin' fun, Kaylee?" Dean asks, attempting to get a conversation started. He's determined to get Cassie to be more than just polite.

And this is the part where Cassie fails. Fails so very hard. She grew quiet, looking from Dean to Kaylee. Poor Dean, if he only knew how hard it was to get Cassie to be like a normal person.

Cassie took another sip of her soda, trying to seem interested, but had this sinking feeling that she wasn't doing very well.

"Yep. 's a lotta food an' drink here." She's all about the food and booze, especially if it's free. This is of course ignoring the fact that all the hatch-food is free.

"Somethin' like this shoulda happened sooner 'stead of us talkin' mostly on the tablets an' lookin' at little holos." She turns to Cassie, who's being all quiet and drinking a soda. Well. That's not good.

"Where are ya from Cassie? Earth-that-Was, like Dean?"

[identity profile] slasher-slayer.livejournal.com 2009-07-16 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
Earth-that-Was. That's the term that that Gwen chick used. Cassie wondered if the Kaylee chick was from outer space too. Had to. Don't think many people would use that term. "Uh, yeah. I am. Can't say I'm from the same world as him," Cassie replied, glancing at Dean for a second.

She didn't know if Kaylee knew about Dean's whole 'evil-killing thing' or not, so she left it at that. And then she took another sip, because it keeps her mouth busy.

"Shiny. Seems there's a lotta folk-" or at least a lot of the ones pulled to Taxon for who knows what reason, "-from some part of Earth-that-Was. 's like you're all livin' myths an' we get to really talk at ya 'stead of just hearin' or readin' 'bout ya."

Which is pretty boring. She should know as history wasn't exactly something she paid a lot of attention to in school.

[identity profile] slasher-slayer.livejournal.com 2009-07-16 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm pretty sure no one's gonna be readings shit about me anytime soon. Or five hundred into the future. 'm not really someone you should be reading about. There's better things to fucking read," Cassie said, flashing a humorless smirk, taking another drink.

"So, what is it you do?" Yes, ask other people about themselves so they can talk and you don't have to lie.

[identity profile] lilgreasemonkey.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well huh.

"I'm a mechanic. I helped my pa an' brothers out 'fore I got the offer to work on Serenity."

[identity profile] slasher-slayer.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
"A mechanic? That's cool. Job that'll actually help you in the world," Cassie found herself commenting. She wasn't being rude or bitchy. She was honest. Everybody had a car or something that had an engine that needed fixing. Kaylee'd be all right. Whether she was on the Earth-that-Was or flying out in space.

"Serenity, is that the...space ship...you're on?"

Felt so fucking weird to say that and actually mean it.
