The time had come. Charlotte left John in charge of setting up the bar, giving him only the one request that he have a decent selection of beer, and did the work of dialing up the food. She knew she was going way over board. For all she knew no one might show up, even though she'd gotten a bit of a response to her invite. How could people resist, though. Food, drink, Dean's music, kittens? Okay, and an ex-vampire, but that wasn't his fault.

Pushing that thought away, she continued laying out the food and the carefully crafted warding spells that would protect it from the kittens. They had been given run of most of the patio, but not the yard, and not the food area. That meant they'd still be popping in and out of people's laps, but at least they wouldn't do it to plates.

When everything was ready, Charlotte ran up to change into skinny jeans, a crisp white button down and a ridiculously shiny pair of cowboy boots. Not unlike Dawn, not that she knew it, Charlotte was having too much fun with the fashion options the replicators afforded. Properly armored for the event, she headed back to the patio to wait for their first guests.

Charlotte was starting to wonder about Vala, but in a 'I should buy you a few rounds and as' kind of way. She was just plain interesting. Still, Charlotte chuckled at the question. "No, I didn't. I just put up the party sign and people showed." She looked around at all the people mingling. "I must have good timing, that's all. We've been here long enough to need this."

She took a long drink. "It's a community, of sorts."

Honestly, give Vala an opportunity to talk about herself and she'll be on a roll. Whether it'll be the whole truth and nothing but the truth is another matter entirely. What she isn't very good at is, is remembering to be interested in other people.

"Well I know I do." This coming from the woman who's got a date lined up for nearly every night this week. Unfortunately none of them the date she was hoping for, but that hasn't stopped her having a good time.

"If I'm stuck here any longer, I think I might go insane." It's debatable how much change that would entail however. With that she pours herself and Charlotte a Margarita each. "Bottoms up!"

Have some vaguely lime flavored tequila Charlotte. None of this surreptitious drink spiking for Vala, she's quite open about it.

Charlotte took a long drag off the drink, hiding her cough at the strength of the not quite a margarita. Still, it had good tequila in it, so Charlotte was happy enough. "That's why the party, at least partly. If we go crazy just from being here, we'll never get out. That's not acceptable." Or course, in Taxon she had her kittens, and John, and didn't have her father, so she had to admit that it wasn't the worst thing that had ever happened to her.

Sexual assault not withstanding.
