[Location: Edge of the Speares District][Voice] Someone was wearing their bad idea jeans
[Well, that was a bad fucking idea cherry to top the sundae of bad fucking ideas. Cassie'd stumbled across that Adria bitch and had actually picked a fight with that...fucking superpower-handed bitch. And Cassie got, maybe, two lucky hits in. The rest of the time she was getting her ass handed to her. She'd just managed to get away and fucking ached all over. She was lightheaded and wanted to pass the fuck out.
Can't.
Not far enough away.
Leaving her van where it was, parked a block or two away from where Adria had been preaching, Cassie made her way down an alley until she was sure that Adria wasn't following. At some point, when she was making her way down the alley, her tablet - which was attached to her wrist - turned on, activating the voice mode. She slumped to the ground, crying out quietly at the pain that lanced through her.]
Fuck me running.....
Can't.

Fuck me running.....
[voice]
[Cassie coughs once, twice, glancing down at her wrist, hurting too much to lift her arm to turn it off.]
Rocketman....
Think I did somethin' really fucking stupid....
[voice]
[He doesn't even bother to correct her, wow this is bad.]
I've heard that, before. Stupid enough to need a doctor? [That rustling sound is him rummaging through drawers for anything he might need because he is so totally coming to get Cassie's dumb ass.]
Don't bother lying. Where are you?
[voice]
I dunno. Maybe. Bitch did some strange-ass fuckin' handglowy thing.
[A small sound is heard. A whimper as she attempted to get up while fighting off the need to pass out.]
Speares. I'm in Speares. In some fucking alley.
[voice]
[Simon is used to stupid people doing stupid things which he is then required to fix, don't worry.]
Yes, I'll bring my 'strange-ass handglowy thing' vaccinations.
[Sharply, upon hearing the whimper] Do not move. I'll be there in a few minutes. Concentrate on your breathing, don't pass out, and keep me informed if anything worsens drastically before I arrive.
[voice]
[Cassie chuckled again, weakly]
Again with the being a smart-ass.
[She nods a little, as if he could see her.] I'll try, Rocketman. [Cassie grows quiet, her eyes slipping closed as she concentrated on her breathing. Keeping it even. Not passing out.]
[voice]
What makes you think I don't have some?
[Protip: he doesn't.]
Now, you said an alley in Speares. What are you near? Buildings, landmarks, anything. If this is all the fight you're putting up, I'd rather be able to find you quickly than waste valuable time searching for you.
[voice]
Sarcasm's easy to read when I can just hear your voice, handsome.
I'm maybe a block south from the Deadmobile. Big white van. Can't miss it.
[Not gonna pass out. Nope. Uh-uh.]
[voice]
...Right.
[Out the door, not running at all it's a light jog, shut up, and then:]
Cassie. Cassie! Keep talking. And don't call me that ridiculous nickname again.
[Trying to goad her? Never.]
[voice]
You know I'm gonna. Can't stop it, Simon.
[Hey, she said the right name. For now. Muahaha.]
[voice]
[Clearly, the best way to keep her talking is to get snippy.]
I was unaware that the genetic anomalies on Earth that Was included a predisposition towards having a truly horrific sense of humor. Is it a family trait, or were you all merely insane?
[voice]
[She's quiet for a long moment before chuckling humorlessly.]
It's a family trait that I'm insane. No, really. I didn't get to tell you...my story.
[She's quiet for another long moment. This time, she sort of dozed off for half a second.]
You really will think I'm nuts and wanna lock me away.
[voice]
[But the increase in his rate of breath should prove that yes, he is running now.]
Complicated childhood? [Yes, because now is the time for wry humor, good job Simon.] I'm hardly one to level accusations of insanity.
[Never mind that there are a few people who would say differently, sorry he just is a little slow sometimes.]
As far as locking people away goes, I should point out both a lack of adequate facilities and my personal dislike of the practice as it pertains to people who are not actively trying to harm my sister or myself. [Yes, now it's Sharing Time] In fact, I'd go so far as to say I don't see things the way I used to when it comes to... 'locking people up'.
[His voice sharpens slightly] Does this story pertain to your medical treatment at all?
[voice]
Complicated life in general. Started when I was young, kept going. Still going, actually.
So you've grown as a person, eh, Rocketman? [She clears her throat at his question.]
No, it doesn't. Ain't gotta worry your pretty little head about it. [She swallowed hard, and a small grunt is heard.]
[voice]
Hmmm. I suppose on a certain level, I can empathize.
...It was something of an enforced growing, but yes.
[He's about to respond with something predictably snippy about his head not being 'pretty' when that grunt comes through, loud and clear.] Did I not say do not move?
[voice]
It's a really low level, doc. [Cassie added quietly, her brow furrowing a little. There weren't very many people...like at all, who could understand what she's gone through.]
I haven't moved, Mr. Snippy. Just fucking hurts. [Cassie may have snapped juuuust a little bit. But she doesn't mean it, Simon, honest.]
