006: [Location: Hyperion Hotel] Like the Prom, Only with Legal Alcohol Supply

Party time!

Cordelia, clad in her chosen outfit for the night, made final rounds inside the hotel to make sure everything was perfect. The decorations were subdued and classy - thanks to both Dawn and Fred, and even the garden was opened so that those who wished to step out and inhale the fake Taxon air could do so. There were tons of wine, beer, scotch, vodka - and if Doyle's selections weren't enough, there's a hatch conveniently behind the refreshments table.

The hotel lobby was cleared of all the furniture, so that the mingling and the dancing could take place more comfortably. If people wanted to take a tour of the hotel, they were welcomed to do so save for three rooms: Fred's, Angel's, and Wesley's office. For not-so-obvious-but-quite-sentimental reasons.

[OOC: This party takes place after the Liar Liar glitch took effect. Mingle! Threadjack! Interrupt! Have fun!]

Dawn blushes hard, but Giles gets an entirely pleased smile. "Look at you, all smooth and complimentary." It means 'thank you'. And also 'thank you dad', but that is, as always, not how they roll. And as for looks: just wait until Chuck shows up.

"Yes! Of course yes."

"I do try, upon occasion" And there's a slightly nostalgic smile that means 'you're welcome' and 'I'm so delighted to have you as a daughter' and is just as unlikely to be expressed. As for Chuck... well he's less likely to be liked then Dean.

Without another word he leads her with a hand to the small of the back to the area that's been set aside for dancing, or at least there aren't any people in that part of the lobby. He turns to face her, then bows slightly at the waist. "My lady," he says, holding out his hand to her.

"Not a complaint, here. I am always in favor of more exaggerated and yet awesome compliments." They're good with the unspoken. Maybe it's a Watcher thing. And Chuck isn't looking like he's going to be Mr. Popular. Sigh, Dawnling. Get thee better taste in boys.

"Dork." But Dawn takes his hand with a slight curtsy that manages to only be halfway awkward. Then they're dancing, and this part she can do without any awkward. Buffy can do backflips and break things with her pinky, but Dawn can dance.

Chuck had better watch himself, or being popular will be the least of his concerns.

The first dance leads into a second, because the moment is so perfect he doesn't want it to end. Someone watching might be reminded of a father daughter dance at a wedding, for these two move together in a way that speaks of familiarity, and talk and tease each other in the way of family.

It's only when the next song is a fast one, and not to Giles's liking, that he reluctantly breaks away.

"That was the most enjoyable dance I've ever had," he says. And then, just for the hell of it, he kisses Dawn's cheek before letting it go.
