006: [Location: Hyperion Hotel] Like the Prom, Only with Legal Alcohol Supply

Party time!

Cordelia, clad in her chosen outfit for the night, made final rounds inside the hotel to make sure everything was perfect. The decorations were subdued and classy - thanks to both Dawn and Fred, and even the garden was opened so that those who wished to step out and inhale the fake Taxon air could do so. There were tons of wine, beer, scotch, vodka - and if Doyle's selections weren't enough, there's a hatch conveniently behind the refreshments table.

The hotel lobby was cleared of all the furniture, so that the mingling and the dancing could take place more comfortably. If people wanted to take a tour of the hotel, they were welcomed to do so save for three rooms: Fred's, Angel's, and Wesley's office. For not-so-obvious-but-quite-sentimental reasons.

[OOC: This party takes place after the Liar Liar glitch took effect. Mingle! Threadjack! Interrupt! Have fun!]

"The bridge -- command center, if you will," he said. "I've got my chair and my ready room, but it's not really the same without the whole package, if you know what I mean."

"A few times," Kirk grinned. He did like attention, after all, especially attention from a pretty girl. "But you could stand to mention it more. You did a good job with this party. People were needing this kind of moral boost."

Himself included.

"Maybe," he said with a casual sort of shrug. Maybe in a big yes sort of way. He was down -- frustrated, restless, bored, angry...oh, the list went on. Kirk wasn't about to admit to any of that, though. Good thing he was a pretty damn good actor himself.

Changing the topic towards those weird things that kept happening to them, Kirk lifted his wrist and pulled back the jacket and sleeve to expose his bracelet. "I think it might be this thing that's doing it to us -- those glitches."

Kirk would gladly accept this award. Can't guarantee he'll be willing to wear a tux for the ceremony, though.

Oh, dammit. Maybe that wasn't the best change of topic, after all. He'd gone and upset her. Frowning at himself for such a tactless move, he reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Hey. Don't apologize. I get it. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little freaked out by all this, too. It's hard not to be. We'll figure the glitches and this place out. It's just going to take some time."

Kirk laughed, removing his hand. "Remind me to tell you about the time I was almost eating by a hengrauggi, then. That'll freak anyone out."

He eyed her. "Something tells me, Cordelia, that you're not as delicate as you appear to be." Just like he wasn't as stupid as he appeared to be.

He eyed her curiously. "Why Cordelia, is that challenge?"
