Well, now. It's true what they say, isn't it? Great minds really do think alike. He'd had thought thought almost immediately after arriving, but he'd yet to test it out. After finding out that the bracelet was the only way to get food around here, it had seemed rather self-destructive to try and remove it.

"I think you'd find you'd want it back rather quickly," Sylar said, smiling at Claire in a slight amount of amusement. "Had the same thought myself when I got here. Especially since my skin constantly trying to heal around it isn't the most pleasant feeling in the world. But without it, you'd pretty much be dependent upon someone else to get food for you."

And he hardly wanted to end up like a child begging their mommy to cook them a meal whenever he was hungry. It would end in people taking advantage. That was always how it ended.

Hearing that Sylar opted not to remove his bracelet (and his wrist along with it), only made Claire more determined to find a way to get it off. She wouldn't admit that Sylar had a point about food out loud, but with both Peter and Nathan in the city, she could ask them for help. Someone needed to get the bracelet off, if for no other reason, to see what happened when a person didn't have one.

"Without it, I might be able to get out of here," Claire explained. Her tone was firm but calm, though the calm something she was struggling against losing. Conversation of any kind with Sylar had her outraged before she could feel or think anything else. "Xander says I was here before and disappeared. He thinks I went home." It was only a theory, but it was the best news she'd heard since being in the city.

"I'm not just going to accept that I'm stuck here like the rest of you have. I'm going to find a way out."

"The rest of you. That's just one step away from you people, Claire," Sylar said, a vague amusement in his tone as the sheer indignation in her voice. She was trying so, so hard to seem as though he didn't phase her, and yet, in that attempt, it made it even more obvious to someone like Sylar who picked up on the smallest cue of body language and tone that she was less than. It was brilliant.

"Or you might just end up stuck here without the bracelet. Or end up having to carry around your former limb just to get through things," He said, chuckling to himself. "I can't tell you about whether you were here before or not. I was the only one from home here when I showed up."

Part of him missed having that freedom.

"I wasn't asking if you'd seen me." He would have rubbed it in her face by now if he had, she knew that much. And it was just as hard for her not to mention his 'Gabriel' incident from a few days before, but she was motivated by the idea that she was better than that. If Peter wouldn't let her kill him, she was going to have to learn to take the high road.

"You might be too scared to do these things, but I'm not." It helped that she was confident her hand would grow back. Her healing had worked on Peter. As far as she could tell, everything was normal for her, except the part where she was now stuck in this place with them. "Worst case scenario, Peter gets to fill the fridge once a week."

"Scared? Scared? It's hardly a matter of bravado, Claire. It's a matter of common sense," Sylar said, resisting the urge to smack his head against something hard from sheer annoyance. He wasn't at all scared to remove the body part, absolutely no hesitancy in the idea came from any sort of fear that it might be the wrong move to make, but it was merely a matter of practicality that he hadn't risked the experiment.

"And I'm pretty sure Magnus manages to keep the place stocked well enough on her own," Sylar said, arching an eyebrow at Claire with curiosity. "There are nearly a dozen of us here now to keep fed."

"Nearly a dozen minus one, I'm not staying," Claire insisted. She had spent some time looking around the city, getting familiar with the area and figuring out what her options were. Living in the same building as Sylar was arguably the worst idea that Peter could have managed to talk her into. She couldn't take it as a permanent solution. It was pretty stupid looking at it short-term, too.

"You like it here, don't you?" she asked, her tone playing it as more of an accusation than a question. He could fool all of the people in this city, just as long as he didn't get caught slicing someone's head open. And part of her was convinced that with all of the powers he'd taken and everything that he knew, if Sylar had really wanted to get out of this place, he would already be gone by now.

Well, yeah.

Just because you can grow back your appendages doesn't mean you should make habit of mutilating yourself, Claire.

I dunno. You'd be out a free pass, I expect, but I doubt much else of signifigance would happen, other than you missing a rather important appendage. If they tie one onto your bloody stump, why- that would just be cruel, wouldn't it?

Ah, that's the one! They had 'em in that, too, if I remember correctly.

Well, it's a thought, but I'd doubt it. The fact that it's a giant cave with no exits is what's keeping us from leaving. I'd work on the barriers before I started choppin' things off.

If there's no exit, then how did we get in here in the first place?
