"Good morning Taxon, and isn't it a grand, wonderful, glorious day? Can't you just feel the hum of spring in the air?" It's entirely reasonable to assume that Hermes' good mood is catching. Certainly, the barely restrained laughter and glee in his voice is the infectious sort. "How is everyone and their uncles, dogs, or uncles' dogs doing today?"

It had been hard for Godric to miss the fact that his bracelet had changed very abruptly, and now had a little screen on it that read 'ECONOMY SIMULATION ENGAGED, PLEASE SPEND YOUR CREDITS WISELY.' It also informs him that he has 850 credits. He's actually taking a good first look at it when Hermes pops up on his tablet screen. Timing; gods have it.

"I suppose this is what you're so enthused about?" he asks, flashing his bracelet at the screen.

"Yes, you dear, beautiful man, yes." Come on, Godric, isn't an economy the greatest thing you've ever seen? Or felt? Better than anything in the whole, wide world? :D? :D? :D?

"I can see again and it's all, it's like, have you ever had a fizzy candy? You should. They should make them for vampires. It would be brilliant. But all of this, and the whir and hum and click, and it's just that effervescent and I love the feel and the word 'effervescent'.

Amused, Godric shakes his head a little. Hermes is practically having fits over this, and it's endearing in a way that just doesn't suit a god's dignity. Godric should not be mentally comparing Hermes to a puppy.

"I'm sure Eric will be thrilled as well. Now that the situation has changed, he'll probably want to speak with you again." But it's morning, and Eric is probably already asleep, so it'll have to wait until later.

"And with an economy comes work. It seems a great many people are now in need of work." Which gives Godric a clever idea, a thoughtful expression crossing over his face quick as a glance. Though he's neither thrilled nor disappointed about this new economy, he knows very well how to work with one, and he's already coming up with ways to make money. A lot of money.

It doesn't just feel great, but it also gives him a stronger purpose in life and a better shot at getting regular, hearty offerings.

"I can't wait. Do you know how nice it is to buy a coffee? That little, fluttery feeling?" There's another doofy, slow smile as he shakes his head. "Sorry, Godric, I've been feeling a little, ah, loopy? Not quite tipsy, but sort of the same thing. I'll be fine soon, but, well, I almost feel like I could make something new. Like, really truly new."

And quite a few of those offerings will be coming from Godric.

He's not really understanding the food references, but he can extrapolate from what he does know. There's a sense of pride when one eats what one kills, and though working is not quite the same as hunting, the same basic principle can still apply.

"Even if you can, would it be a good idea? This may all take some time to work itself out. You don't want to drain your reserves." Excitement is all well and good, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Some caution is the best policy, until things start to take shape.

"I know, I know, I can't and shouldn't actually do anything without reason, but I feel that I almost can and even if nothing comes of it, I want to celebrate and revel in it." Admittedly, he's only been cut off from that part of providence for a few weeks, but it was a great and gaping loss.

"Mmmm, so, what do you plan to do now? How or where will you work?"

"The place I brought with me is a high-end hotel. I've been avoiding it up until now," he doesn't mention why, "but I'm sure I can do something useful with it. It also occurred to me that people will need jobs, and probably employees. A staffing agency seems like a wise business venture."

It's going to absolutely slay Godric when he figures out he can't actually save any of the money he earns.

Pft. All he has to do is max out his credits at the end of each month and get the hatches to bring out some sort of hard currency -- savings problem solved and economy jumpstarted.

"I like it. If I can help in any way, let me know? I design a mean business card."

This is all assuming that hard currency isn't just completely worthless. Maybe he'll start claiming real estate instead, before the aliens think to start charging for housing.

"Of course. I'm sure I'll have need of some assistance at one point or another. I'll be sure to bring lamb." He quirks a wry smile, but of course he's perfectly serious.

It's reasonable to assume that others will want to save their earnings and that the best way to do that is through either hard currency or barter. In theory, it ought to work.

"You are a joy and delight, Godric.

Would be better if we weren't trapped in Taxon.

Every day can always be better, but this is one of the best I've had in a while. I'd suggest not looking a gift horse in the mouth, but I've got a bit of bias there, don't you agree?

What's made your day so wonderful, then?

"The spring is sprung, the grass is riz, and all folks can work at their biz...ness." Okay, so it doesn't quite work.

[there's a VERY long pause]

I'm sorry, what?

The economy, Doctor.

[and cue another pause]

You're excited about money?

Yes. Oh, yes. It's been far too quiet without.

Quiet? What do you mean, quiet?

I don't we've had a proper introduction, have we?

I'm the Doctor, just the Doctor, and the only providence I know of is either in America or on the outer quadrant of Almos 7.

Wrong flavour of providence, Doctor. I have a connection to travel, finance, roosters, tortoises, nude wrestling, hospitality to strangers, innovation, and a whole host of other things.

"Yes," she answers simply in relation to being able to feel the hum of spring in the air. Quite serious about being able to feel it, too.

"It's it delightful? Delicious? Delectable as cake?"

She considers the descriptive words he offers, but settles on: "More...warming, though I suppose delightful could work for that."
