Several notes have been left around Taxon over the last few days.

Once all are delivered, the Doctor plants himself in a nondescript alley in central, smooths out his hair, and flips on the tablet to visual. He grins madly at the camera.

Of course, right before he opens his mouth to speak, music begins playing. Ah, it's that old familiar tune, the first bars to "All By Myself". The Doctor feels the music tug at his heartstrings, and he opens his mouth and says:

"No, I'm serious. I'm not singing that, stop it."

He says it with enough force, that an Extra walking behind him stops and turns to stare at him. The Doctor focuses on the tablet.

"So, rumors of my disappearance have been greatly exaggerated, of course," he says, all smug and self-satisfied, as per usual.

The Extra behind the Doctor picks up a pipe from the ground and starts towards him. The Doctor, focused on the tablet, doesn't notice.

"But! Since the Council, or whatever you call it, is doing such a fantastic job of keeping law and order, I think I might give the citizens of Taxon a head's up about the actual threat around this place."

The Extra is now right behind the Doctor, and it raises the pipe above its head.

The Doctor continues. "You should really look out for---"

The Extra slams the pipe down, and the screen goes suddenly static, then fizzes back to the Doctor, struggling with the strangely violent Extra. The Extra smacks him across the face and he falls over, out of camera range.

OOC: To those whom he's left a note, you're welcome to just meet him at HC Clements after or prior to the events with this Extra.

She's getting the message right now. Not that hearing the words wouldn't be good but it's not something she needs. Not as long as he's here. She kisses him back, not desperately this time but reaffirming the words he can't say. She tries to slow it down a little, promising him all the time they can steal.

If she can just hold onto this, hold onto the knowledge, the feeling and help him hold onto it as well, she won't hate that he has to leave. She won't like it but she won't hate it either.

He braces one hand against the wall and holds onto her tight. He feels himself slowly moving towards climax, but he doesn't want to. He doesn't want to end this, he doesn't want to leave her.

"Come with me," he says. "Away with me. We can...run. Together."

It's said in the heat of passion and he'll regret it the moment his body temperature has lowered, but right now, it feels right.

She's just as close to climax as he is and fighting it for all the same reasons. "Yes." She captures his mouth with hers again to keep him from taking it back, to keep him from arguing.

There's never any thought to it. "Anywhere you go, Doctor," she promises fervently against his mouth.

Unfortunately she won't forget he's asked.

Anywhere. He'll lead her right to her death and he knows it. Still, he holds her close and fights his body's desire to finish, fights it because he doesn't want to leave her.

He can't hold out forever, and he braces himself against the wall, crying out her name as he climaxes.

She knows it and she'll go willingly anyway. She's believed that for a long time anyway.

It's the way he cries out her name that does her in. She can't fight it anymore and her climax follows his, her leg around his hips tightening and her arms clinging to him as she buries her face in the crook of his neck, breathing hard and trying to right the world.

He holds onto her as his body shudders and relaxes, and he holds onto her even after. His eyes screw up tight, as though he can block out the rest of the universe that's intent on keeping them apart.

He opens his eyes and pulls back finally, looking down at her and memorizing her face, her flushed lips, her eyes. She's beautiful and he loves her. Why can't he stay? Why does he always have to run?

He doesn't talk, he just leans down, pressing a tender kiss to her mouth.

She knows that look. Of course it took her a little while to realize what that look was. It's the look he gives her when he doesn't think he's coming back. She returns the same sort of look but her hands smooth down his back, over his shoulders, down his chest. She's memorizing the feel of him because so long ago she memorized what he looks like.

She arches up into the kiss, not making it deeper so much as trying to make it linger. She knows what's coming and she's trying to hold him here longer. She's trying to put off that argument she doesn't think she's going to win; the one where he sticks to the offer he made her in the heat of the moment.

He thinks about the human Doctor back on the beach. If he had only one life to live, he'd want this, he thought. Holding her, making love to her, just being with her. Living out a life, one life. It would be good.

He breaks the kiss, but doesn't pull away from her.

"If we had forever," he says, brushing a finger across her cheek. "It would be---it would be brilliant."

She tilts her head just slightly into the touch and reaches up to run a finger down the bridge of his nose and over his lips. "It would be brilliant. This can be too. While we're here, we can be brilliant."

She wonders when she went from fighting for the rest of her life to settling for here. She's pretty sure it was right about the time their relationship went too good to be true.

"We can't stay here," he says. "We're prisoners here, Rose, and you've got a brilliant life out there. It's just waiting for you."

He presses a kiss to her fingertip when it touches his lips. How is he supposed to just give her up? In moments like this, the universe seems so small. Just them, together.

She nods, more for the sake of not arguing with him. "I know." It's just a whisper that conveys how much she hates that she knows this. She bites her lips, trying to make some sense of all her thoughts and emotions. "Maybe this is our--We won't get forever so maybe this is--maybe this is our forever. All this emotion and all this that should last forever crammed into this little slice of time here."

Or maybe that's just what she wants to believe. They get a reward for everything they've done; everything they've gone through and how far they've come.

He takes her hand and places it above his left heart. He closes his eyes. Forever is something they can't have, never. But it's something they both want. And maybe, here---

"I can't stop trying," he says. "To get us away, but---as long as we are here. You have my heart."

Her eyes get teary and she closes them, just feeling the thump-thump of his heart beneath her hand. She slides her free hand to rest over his right heart. "What about the other one, Doctor. Do I get that one too?"

"Oi," he says, offering her a small, cheeky smile. "I need something for me, you know."

She laughs softly, very quietly and dips her head to kiss both sides of his chest.

"Alright. I s'pose I'll settle for just one." She licks her lips, looking back up to him. "You've always had mine. Take care of it 'cause I've just got the one."

He's sad, then, and he does his very best not to show it. She gives him her heart, but one day she'll give it to someone else. She'll give it to someone else and he'll stand there, helpless to stop her.

He hates this life as a servant to time. He hates the way time works for him.

"I will," he lies, because it is easier to lie.

She hates the way he feels so bound not to change things; so trapped in what will be, what must be and what has been. She tilts her head up, pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth.

"I trust you."

And not with just her heart. With everything.

He finally moves back from her, feeling almost pained at the lack of contact. The books he needs are still on the other side of the room, but he can't make himself go to pick them up, not yet.

"Sorry," he says, feeling suddenly very awkward. "I should've---gotten a prophylactic or---something---"

Caught up in the moment, as it were, even the Doctor made mistakes.

Rose shakes her head although she does feel a little flutter of nerves in the pit of her stomach. A baby would only make everything worse. Especially here. "It's--we'll remember next time. Probably not all that--" she stops short because she doesn't know that they aren't very compatible. She's just assuming. She forces a smile and reaches out to take his hand, more to keep him near than anything. "Should have said something. Wasn't thinking clearly. Ought to see about taking the pill anyway."

"Right, we might not be," he says, gesturing to her and then to himself. "Course we might be and, well--"

He clears his throat. "Yeah, some sort of pill-thing---yeah, that might be best."

Rose ducks her head and runs her free hand through her hair. "Right. Then I'll get on the pill. Bit less for us to worry about."

And they could use less to worry about. Especially if they were going to end up in situations like this.

A little panic seizes him. What if they are compatible and he just---they just---what if? Too many things to worry about, having that stick in the back of his mind only makes everything seem more frightening.

"A-And well, I, um, I don't have any...sexual diseases or anything, I'm not particularly active..."

Yeah she's having that little panic attack too. She doesn't mind doing the domestic thing as long as it's just her and him but add the idea of a baby into the mix and it makes her twitchy. She squeezes her eyes tight shut a moment. Will not think about that right now.

She opens her eyes just in time to blush pink. "R-right. N-no I didn't think--and me nothing since--just--not that you want to hear about--me either."

"We should really have had this conversation before this point," the Doctor theorizes. "And we still should, if we're going to, well, be----"

Be what? A couple? The Doctor couldn't even keep himself still for five minutes, much less be able to sustain anything resembling a relationship with anyone. And there were things he had to work out (his attraction to Morgana, for one, something he should probably talk to Rose about at some point. Or possibly take to his grave, one or the other.)

"We'll have tea and talk about it," Rose answers. Although there's not much else to say beyond her telling him when she's on the pill. She doesn't care if they label what they are she just wants to continue being what they are.

Yeah well the problem with the second one is it never stays that way so talking might be best.
