No surprise that Kirk's currently in the bar. ...well, a little considering his ex works here, but he's fine and dandy with ducking out if he catches sight of her. He's not drunk or even close to being tipsy, but there's a glass in his hand and a curious glance being sent towards Cordelia for that odd statement he picked up on as he walked by. Just odd enough to make him stop, turn around and approach.

"Trouble in paradise?"

Cordelia lowers the bottle and glances up. "Oh hey, Tiberius! What's up? How are you?" She gives him a full blown grin that's just too bright and big to be sincere. "What are you doing here?"

Spike is there for pretty much the same reason. He walks over to her and sits down with his own bottle of tequila.

"I'm remembering why I hated him," he says, sounding almost cheerful. He takes a big gulp of tequila and glances over at her. "You know it'll wear off, right? And hopefully soon?"

Good thing you brought your own, Spike, as Cordelia's totally not in the mood to share her bottle.

"Please. I've been in Taxon longer than you; of course I know it'll wear off." That doesn't stop her from chugging a hefty amount of tequila, though.

Oh dear lord, it's Cordelia. Buffy would do the avoidance thing, except for how she works here. And serving people booze is kind of her job. Thus, she's going to brave an encounter. After all, it's not like she's enjoying Angel's glitch any more than Cordelia is, and she doesn't like seeing Cordelia all depressed.

"Would you like a glass with that?" She asks, in a way that somehow manages to be disapproving but sympathetic at the same time.

Cordelia looks up and frowns openly. Gee. Of all the places she could end up in, in Taxon - she just had to be in a place where Buffy is, too.

Wait, why is Buffy here, anyway? "What are you doing here?" she asks, her tone not friendly at the very least. It's nothing personal, Buffy, but you're probably the last person Cordelia wants to see right now, given the circumstances.

"Oh, I'm just stealing the cash register." Buffy answers with casual sarcasm, not even batting an eyelid. Of course, she hadn't been expecting a friendly reception, but she can't help but feel a little annoyed all the same.

"Also, I work here. Since a while now. I'm surprised Lorne didn't tell you." She waves the drinks tray at her side as an illustration, in case Cordelia needs further confirmation.

...oh. That'll explain why Buffy knows Lorne, which would've been her next question anyway.

"Yeah, well. Your name just didn't come up. In between the talks of 'oh my god we're going to die' and 'Wes is in a coma', didn't really know how to pop in 'Buffy' in the middle of it all."

Cordelia keeps her eyes glued at the tequila bottle as she speaks. God, she knows she's being unfair, but she can't help it. And it just feels too good to let it all loose like this instead of keeping it all inside.

Buffy is this close to just walking away from the conversation, before she gets too worked up and says things she'll eventually regret saying, but something in Cordelia's answer distracts her from her rising irritation.

"Wesley's in a coma? How did-- what happened?"

Cordelia sucks in a deep breath and slumps further in her chair, as it was possible. "His... um. Head got hit, or something." She shakes her head. "I wasn't really paying attention when his doctor gave the explanation." Mainly because she was looking at Wes the whole time and was desperately wishing the damned man will open his eyes soon.

She waves a hand. "He's staying at Dr. Jones' surgery, if you want to go visit. Careful, though. Crazy blue chick's there, like a watchdog. Watchbitch, even."

"Guess that makes you easier to console than Connor, who seems convinced it'll last two months." He takes another gulp. Tequila, a Taxon necessity.

"I'll beat him up for you, if you want." Actually, he already did that. "Well, all right, I'd be doing it for me, but it can be for you too. Plenty of violence to go around."

"...oh god," she whispers, running her hands through her hair and cradling her face afterward. "I didn't even think about Connor. How is he, by the way?" And it's weird that they are practically thinking along the same lines.

"Can't blame the kid, you know. Angel's last glitch lasted that long." Her tone is nonchalant, but there's an undercurrent of real worry, there. "And no. Your violence is good but..." Cordelia doesn't want to see him hurt. No, actually-- "I just... don't want to see him, for as long as this stupid thing lasts, though. Can you, um... do that?" Her last word is a whispered, "Please?"

"Murdering punching bags last I saw, and definitely not happy. Not that any of us are." A small, paranoid voice in the back of his head wants to suggest that maybe Buffy will be happy of this development and glad that Angel's in love with her again and then leave Spike for her, like Drusilla did when Angelus joined them so shortly after the point in time Angel thinks it is. Time for more tequila. Buffy's not like Dru. She wouldn't be that cruel. And Spike's more than an Angel replacement, he's almost sure of it.

"That's what he said. I still think we should wait a little longer before worrying about that happening again." He glances at her when she asks the next part, then nods. "Yeah, sure, I can keep him away." Which will probably also involve violence, but it can be violence somewhere Cordelia isn't.

Tony really has no reason to be in Caritas except for the fact that it's a bar, and bars mean alcohol. And right now, he's definitely in the mood for a drink. Never mind the fact that he's been in that mood for the past forty-five minutes to an hour.

He's chosen to go without a glass, and is just drinking from a bottle of vodka, when he happens to hear a muttered comment from the table next to him. He glances over, and with eyebrows raised, says, "I'm pretty sure bottles don't talk back, so if you're tired of broody vampires, you could just talk to me."

Great pickup line, Stark. He knows he's never seen this woman before, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere.

Oh, come on, girl. We're trapped in some alien hell-hole and you're drinking without me?

Lorne notices Cordelia with her tequila bottle across the room. He'd noticed the very strange transmission from Angel earlier, which probably didn't bode well for her well-being. Maybe a song will cheer her up along with the tequila?

He waits for the Extra on stage to finish his song, then takes over the mic. "I'd like to dedicate this song to a girl who makes it through, no matter what." He smiles, then launches into a song.

Gunn! Am I glad to hear you. Come on, I need company and you'd very much be welcomed in my little corner of gloom and doom.

Buffy must be, a part of her wants to say. But Spike is like Buffy's number one fan and just...

Cordelia sighs. "Good. Him looking so lost and broodier and Buffy-centric is something I don't think I can handle right now."

Cordelia's pretty sure she hasn't seem him before this, either, so she smiles at him and says, "Sure! Whatd'you want to talk about?"

Cordelia almost tears up at the song. A girl who always makes it through? God, sometimes she thinks she can't, because the world found it funny and appropriate to dump everything on her shoulders until she buckles and breaks.

Like now.

She smiles at Lorne - her first real, genuine smile - and waves him to come closer.

Uh, sure. Give me a couple minutes, though. Still getting the hang of this weird map thing.

The prospect of having to deal with Illyria isn't exactly tempting, and of course Buffy and Wesley have never been anything even faintly resembling close, but it's definitely something to consider - especially if she can get Spike to go with her. "Thanks, I'll think about it." She nods, with a pronounced frown. There's a perceptible pause, before she takes a deep breath and cuts straight to the elephant in the room.

"Listen, Cordelia, about this Angel thing, you should know that I'm not-- nothing's going on. I'm just... doing my very best to avoid him. This isn't fun for me either."

Like that's so hard.

She freezes right in the middle of reaching for her bottle of tequila. Cordelia bites her lip, then grabs her bottle. "Oh, I don't care about him," she says flippantly, then downs a hefty amount of tequila.

After the nasty effects of that has stopped, she continues with, "He can go drown himself in his Buffy-colored world for all I care."
