xxviii [ location: somewhere in speares ] / [ visual ].
The vampire could've sworn he heard hoof beats in the distance a moment ago, but that wasn't what caught his attention. For all he knew, someone had brought a horse with them when they were pulled into Taxon. What did, was the scent of blood thick on the air. It grabbed hold of his attention and demanded it's focus, pulling him in as he drew nearer to the source of the heavy stench.
He was rewarded with a most horrific sight (or one that would be to someone who wasn't ridiculously desensitized to such things due having done much worse in his day): the headless body of an Extra.
Angel knelt next to it, reaching out to touch his fingertips to the blood that pooled around the body. "Still warm," he stated aloud.
...which meant that this beheading had just happened. Which also meant whoever or whatever did this could still be nearby. But, where was the head?

Where are-- no, wait. I got your location. Give me a few minutes.

New for Taxon, at least. [ and he nods at that next part, but that goes unseen. he's waiting. ]

...if it was indeed random, and not just a deed by some lunatic out there.
Cordelia parked her car on the side, got out, and approached the vampire. She grimaced at the sight of the headless body, then glanced around for the missing head.
"God. Who'd do something like that here?"

He wasn't sure which of those options he preferred. Whatever it was, there was no telling if the threat was limited strictly to the Extras or if the captive population was next.

Why didn't she have a vision about this? She looked up at the fake sky and said, "You know, it's times like these that I doubt the PTBs are actually still out there. One would think that something like that--" She motioned to the dead body, "--would have warranted at least a warning."

That's what Angel would like to know. Sometimes he believed the Powers could reach them, others he didn't. Now, he was leaning more towards the latter. "Maybe we weren't meant to be warned."

She sighed. "Figures. Now there's a chance heads will roll - literally." As long as whatever's doing it kept to the Extras, then things would be okay. Or... not okay okay, but the alternative - of them being the victims - was even worse.
"You think we should... I don't know, do something about the body?" And on that note, "Also, um... are you okay?"
