The vampire could've sworn he heard hoof beats in the distance a moment ago, but that wasn't what caught his attention. For all he knew, someone had brought a horse with them when they were pulled into Taxon. What did, was the scent of blood thick on the air. It grabbed hold of his attention and demanded it's focus, pulling him in as he drew nearer to the source of the heavy stench.

He was rewarded with a most horrific sight (or one that would be to someone who wasn't ridiculously desensitized to such things due having done much worse in his day): the headless body of an Extra.

Angel knelt next to it, reaching out to touch his fingertips to the blood that pooled around the body. "Still warm," he stated aloud.

...which meant that this beheading had just happened. Which also meant whoever or whatever did this could still be nearby. But, where was the head?

[You know, just when Angela was getting used to the idea of a nice vampire who no longer feeds on humans, she gets to see this on her tablet. A decapitated Extra, a vampire who looks far too calm about it, and commentary on his favorite snack. Could you blame her for assuming things?

[ oh angela, angel didn't do this. ...he's done things like this, but not in a very long time and he's not about to offer that bit of horrifying past information after the way you reacted to the game face. it's still too early in this CR for the 'rampaged my way through europe and into the history books' talk just yet. good leap, though. if he were in her shoes, he would've made the same assumption. vampire + bloody body? what else could it be? ]

[Brennan is not assuming Angel is responsible for this; not only has he assured her before that he doesn't drink from humans (if Extras count as such), it would also make no rational sense. Why would a vampire bother to decapitate someone and be so wasteful with the blood? However, decapitation means bone damage, and that piques her interest.

With no small amount of hopefulness, Brennan speaks up while eyeing the corpse.]

Would you happen to require assistance with that?

[ the vampire all but snaps his head up when she speaks up on the tablet, almost as if he has to force his gaze off the body. it's not that he's horrified, it's the blood. angel's control is firm, but that much wasted blood demands attention and calls out to the more primal parts of his demon. ]

[ while angela has seen a lot of horrible sights in her time, both before her gift was tapped back into and after, she doesn't recall ever having seen a decapitated body before. her eyes go a little wide at the scene, then she addresses angel. ]

[ so she dates a vampire, but hasn't really been exposed to much of the grittier side of things yet, aside from vicki having been killed in front of her. someone having been beheaded is completely out of her realm of experience thus far. ]

Anya does not look particularly phased by the sight. She's seen and done a lot worse, and doesn't even regret it. "Did you do that?"

The woman looks vaguely familiar, but Angel can't quite put his finger on where he's seen her before. That, of course, is pushed aside in favor of focusing on the matter at hand and grimacing a bit at his question. If not for how valid a question that is, he would be offended.

"No," he answers. "I didn't. Something else did."
