The vampire could've sworn he heard hoof beats in the distance a moment ago, but that wasn't what caught his attention. For all he knew, someone had brought a horse with them when they were pulled into Taxon. What did, was the scent of blood thick on the air. It grabbed hold of his attention and demanded it's focus, pulling him in as he drew nearer to the source of the heavy stench.

He was rewarded with a most horrific sight (or one that would be to someone who wasn't ridiculously desensitized to such things due having done much worse in his day): the headless body of an Extra.

Angel knelt next to it, reaching out to touch his fingertips to the blood that pooled around the body. "Still warm," he stated aloud.

...which meant that this beheading had just happened. Which also meant whoever or whatever did this could still be nearby. But, where was the head?

Possibly. Or maybe they need it for something - food, a ritual. Could be a number of things.

Ten bucks says Metropolis isn't around, either.

Okay, definitely not my area of expertise when it comes to crime-fighting. Where's Batman when you need him?

Might be something supernatural, might not. Could be someone with a really twisted obsession. Sometimes humans get darker than the demons the accuse of the things they, themselves, excel at.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but... do you mind if I come take a look? Maybe I can figure out what it was weapon-wise that beheaded this guy and maybe give the detective-types here a starting point. Or, who knows, maybe there's something beyond the normal spectrum that humans would miss and I can pick up.

[ he doesn't? that's a little surprising - pleasantly surprisingly, but still a surprise. usually people are more eager to put the blame on those who are different without even taking into consideration the possibility of their own people having a hand in something. ]

I am one the detective types, but more eyes and opinions means reaching a conclusion faster; so please, by all means. There's no sense in not working together on this. If whatever this is is attacking Extras, we could be next.

[ and, sure enough, in a little less than a minute, there's a girl floating next to angel in jeans and a gotham knights sweatshirt looking down at the body with a faint grimace. she tucks a piece of hair behind her ear before giving angel a small smile. ]

I'm Kara, by the way. Kara Zor-El. And before you ask, no I'm not human. Yes, I am from another planet which means you have met an alien from outer space.

[ his eyebrows shoot up for a moment; not in surprise, but in recognition. he heard about her from spike and now has a face to go with the name. ]

Angel. Vampire. Really have room to talk in the not human arena.

[ he smiles all the same - brief, almost in an obligatory way. welcome to angel's social awkwardness, kara. ]

Vampire... so you're like Spike and Godric?

[ eeeeenteresting. this makes three vamps she's talked to in taxon. she's definitely a little curious about him, but her curiosity will have to wait until later.

kara turns back to the headless corpse and her eyes seem to almost glow as she frowns and looks down on it, swallowing hard as if that will keep her stomach from churning. ]

There's nothing really unusual about the body itself. No weird things in the pockets or in the skin and nothing around the actual site of decapitation that shows up under x-rays. I could scan it on a microscopic level, but I get the feeling this was a hit and run more than anything else. [ batman would be so proud. ]

I'm like Spike, not so much like Godric. Godric's type of vampire differs from the kind Spike and I are.

[ he'd be more than happy to answer any questions later that don't go beyond the boundaries of what he's willing to share with people, for there's common knowledge that's easily accessible to those who know what books to look in and then there's that which isn't. ]

[ it's kind of sad how honestly nonchalant that question is. between being in this place for months and everything that goes on back in the dcu, it's a valid question, but that doesn't make the normality of it any less strange. ]

They don't call me Supergirl for nothing. [ she taps the s-shield on her belt buckle. ] This thing is usually on my shirt and cape.

And, technically speaking, I can see into most of the EM wavelength as well as seeing through things. I don't get to use the powers with my eyes very much as I'm more of the "hit the giant robot 'til it falls" kind of a hero back home, but it comes in handy every once in a while.

Different universe. Godric and I are both vampires, but there are some minor differences like strength limitations and fang placement.

[ godric's fangs were on his upper maxillary lateral incisors, where angel's where on his upper maxillary canines, with his incisors sharpened as well. the elder vampire also only had to click his fangs into place, which contrasted against angel's need to shift completely into a different, more demonic face for his fangs to be present. ]

That's pretty impressive. You guys have to deal with giant robots often?

Which would explain why I didn't have to hold back with Godric when I fought him and why Spike breaks easier.

[ there's a slight smirk on her face as she imagines spike's indignant response to that comment. but it's true; she held back more when she sparred with him than the time she beat the crap out of godric and let him wail on her. ]

Often enough that I can say that without it being sarcastic.

[ angel nods. ] To give you a frame of reference, I'm about a hundred times stronger than a human. Godric is a hundred times stronger than me. He could tear me to pieces before I had time to blink, if he wanted. [ yet, angel doesn't seem threatened by the notion. he likes godric and has a lot of respect for him - more than he's willing to admit. ]

Goes well with how often I find myself covered in demon goo.

Yeah, but the tearing to pieces thing has a lot to do with speed, too.

[ she blinks and turns a raised eyebrow at angel. ] Demon goo? Is that a codeword for something or do demons in your world just have weird consistencies to their blood?

Got that; Godric's just got...more of that.

[ and could keep it up for longer, angel imagined. ]

Yeah, some demons are just...gooey. And tend to explode a bit when you kill them. Hence the covered in demon goo.

Eugh. Even more reason to be thankful for the no killing rule in my business back home.
