It's been a couple days since the attack and her phone call to Don, and Mattie's feeling better physically, but still a little wrung out emotionally. Mostly that manifests in being very quiet and trying convince Don to let her cook meals for him, and a noticeable absence of tiny sternfaces. There's a lot on her mind, however, and one or two questions in particular keep coming up.

So she turns to her tablet, and the Taxon community, for answers. She's curled up against the headboard of Don's bed, wrapped in her father's coat over her nightgown, with a small white gauze bandage on her neck.

"What happens when a vampire bites you? And how are you to tell if you are seeing one?"


[Location for Don, visual or voice as you like for everyone else. Let's say this is backdated to around May 9 so Mattie hasn't been languishing all this time.

ETA: Don may be hovering around and keeping an eye on conversations, expect possible threadjacking. ;)]

Mattie's hand goes up immediately to cover the bandage. "How much is most of your blood? What happens afterward? How long does it take?"

Congratulations on apparently becoming a vampire expert, Amy.

"Oh, oh I think... five pints is how much the human body has? Maybe?" Oh Amy, why didn't you pay attention in school? "And if you had a lot taken out you certainly wouldn't look as well as you do now, so I'm sure you're fine."

As for the other questions... "I'm not sure. I really only have movies for my information, but I'm guessing if you were going to turn into one, you would have already. I think you're going to be ok."

"Five pints does seem like a fair amount." Mattie feels certain that she didn't lose five pints of blood, so she appreciates the encouragement.

"Do you know if there are any other effects? I confess I do not know much about these things, they have always seemed a pointless subject to study."

"Mmm, well when it happened to me, other than my neck being sore, I just felt a bit lightheaded. But those weren't really vampires. They were just posing as them." She shook her head. Silly fish aliens in 16th century Venice.

"Anyway, I should introduce myself. I'm Amy."

Mattie isn't sure why anyone would pose as a vampire, but until a few days ago she didn't believe vampires themselves were real.

"I am Mattie Ross. It is nice to meet you, and I am grateful for your advice."

"Sure, I was glad to help. Is someone taking care of you right now?" She didn't feel right just sitting there if the girl was fending for herself after a vampire attack.

"Yes, ma'am, I am staying with Mr. Draper, though I think he may be more shaken than I am." Judging by the amount of pacing and smoking going on, anyway.

"I'll bet! Older friends always make a fuss over the troubles their younger friends get into." She knew that from experience. "Well, I'm glad you're recovering. And no worrying, got it? I won't be seeing you sporting fangs any time soon."
