It's been a couple days since the attack and her phone call to Don, and Mattie's feeling better physically, but still a little wrung out emotionally. Mostly that manifests in being very quiet and trying convince Don to let her cook meals for him, and a noticeable absence of tiny sternfaces. There's a lot on her mind, however, and one or two questions in particular keep coming up.

So she turns to her tablet, and the Taxon community, for answers. She's curled up against the headboard of Don's bed, wrapped in her father's coat over her nightgown, with a small white gauze bandage on her neck.

"What happens when a vampire bites you? And how are you to tell if you are seeing one?"

[Location for Don, visual or voice as you like for everyone else. Let's say this is backdated to around May 9 so Mattie hasn't been languishing all this time.

ETA: Don may be hovering around and keeping an eye on conversations, expect possible threadjacking. ;)]

You poor thing. You have someone lookin' after you, right? You gotta make sure you eat, it'll help.

Mr. Draper is looking after me, though I am sure I will not need looking after for much longer.

[Mattie doesn't mention that more often than not, she's the one yelling at Don to eat better.]

Everybody needs lookin' after, in our own ways. You mean Don?

Yes, do you him? He has been most helpful to me. I...it helps, being in such a strange place, to know someone like that.

Mmm-hmm. He seems real sweet. [ enjoy stalking this one, don. ] It's always nice, havin' somebody you know around.

[Mattie doesn't think she's say 'sweet', but okay. She knows people like Sookie, and they're usually nice enough if sometimes a little bit naive.] I did not know anyone here when I came. It would be nice to see someone from home, I think.

Sometimes people end up here later, honey. My friend Godric was here before me, and then a while after I got here my brother showed up. Sometimes just bein' patient is all it takes. [ and then sometimes people never come, but sookie's not saying that to a child. ]

[That possibility hadn't occurred to Mattie, but now the idea cheers her just a little. Maybe if she can't get home right away, she can at least have hope of seeing someone she knows.]

I am not very good at being patient, but I will try. I hope none of my family come here, though. They would not like it very much.

I'm not real good either, but this place makes it so you can't be much else.
